| Rolling backwards at a stop.shaking/shimmying of steering wheel--had to replace rotors/brakes at my own expense because warranty expires at 36,000.i also had to replace the module because it was malfunctioning,the pistons/rings and the abs system was also malfunctioning--still at my own expense.now,i'm having problems with my steering and front end making clunking noises.i bought the car with 17,500 or so on it,and now 24,000 miles or so later i'm spending a fortune on the upkeep of an apparent lemon.sure wish chevy would do somethin about it instead of giving us the run-around. nlm | |||

| The right front brake line failed, fortunately in the driveway. inspection of the lines showed heavy corrosion on all four lines. the failure on the right front line was directly behind the engine and the hole was a large enough to drain the reservoir in 5 or 6 pedal depressions. | |||

| Car went out of control after driver put the car into gear to move it from a parked, idling position, after noticing a burning like odor. it was noted by the driver at that time that the temperature gauge was in the red zone. when the driver attempted to move the car to a safer parking area only a few feet in distance, she heard a sharp snapping sound and also felt a vibration in the steering wheel/column area. the car suddenly lurched forward, the head lights and dash lighting went completely out as the car began accelerating out of control. in addition, there was no steering or brake control. no work has been done yet to correct these problems because an insurance company is involved. *tr | |||

| Problems with the braking system at 18k miles. *ph the brakes began to vibrate and hum, the dash board lights came on which stated there was an abs and traction problem. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they found a there was a senor problem. the rear wheel senor was showing a problem which resulted from the left front strut, where connector c101 and connector c045 wires passed into the trunk under the carpet. the consumer experienced problems with the brakes on several other occasions. the consumer also experienced electrical problems with the vehicle. *jb | |||

| There are two: one: a/c overflow catch trap collects water and does not drain, causing moldy smell and requires cleaning out of trap two: front end brakes wobble - took in 3 times under warranty to have fixed and once had to pay at 12k miles to have to have rotors replaced. otherwise replied to as normal. still wobbles (i would not describe as the expected pulsing) - never completely satisfied at any time reported. now of warranty (of course) but who has time to keep taking the car back in? *nlm | |||

| Air conditioning blower motor emitted a high-pitched noise at 8,029 miles. the dealer replaced the blower motor. the same problem occured at 33,130 miles. the blower was repaired by the dealer. the brakes began to vibrate at 17,000 miles at 55 mph. the dealer repaired or replaced the rotors on the front end. this same vibration reappeared at approximately 31,000 miles. the dealer would not repair the brake rotors a second time. also at approximately 31,000 miles, the front end emitted a thudding sound at low speeds (20 mph) . the dealer would not consider this problem, though the vehicle was still within warranty mileage and time. the final diagnosis on the thudding noise under the front end was completely shot struts. | |||

| When vehicle encountered slight vibration is common highway roads surfaces, the vehicle will jump, jerk and wander from side to side, favoring the right side. the rear of the vehicle without warning will brake away and try and begin to spin first left and then right.. when road conditions are wet from mist or rain, the vehicle will constantly try to begin a right rear sliding action as if the rear of the vehicle is try to come to come around and get in front of you while in a forward motion. speeds at which this accurs is 45 to 70 miles an hour. loss of forward, directional control will accure, vehicle wanders back and forth. vehicle will fishtail on wet road conditions. very sever corner to corner tire wear. rear tires conpletely bald. constant tire rotation proves worthless. vehicle will pull to right front when brakes applied. front to rear alighnment problems. no specs available from dealership for alighnment. set rear camber, both sides by eye. an uncontroled highway spin resulted in sever vehicle damage. engine stalls at upon acceleration, slow speeds, street lights, stop sighns., etc. vehicle will roll forward while in a reverse action such as; backing out of a parking lot, drive way.,ect. purchase dealership refuses to scknowledge complaints of vehicle failures, facts, conditions. was told by general service manager that the problems and issues surrounding this vehicle and it's accident, its a legal issue of libality, that we no longer can not and will not have anything further to do with you or this vehicle. was told by service technician that in regards to the facts or conddtions surrounding this vehicles problems causing the sever tire wear conditions that, i was screwed...*ak( dot number: 1089ms tire size: p255/60r16 ) | |||

| After driving the car for approximately two weeks, a distinctive vibration began which seemed to be located in the front end of the vehicle. i took the car to the dealer who determined that the front end brake rotors were vibrating on the wheel studs. further inspection revealed that the holes in the rotors had been machined too large for the wheel studs. the dealer reported that there was no fix available. the problem continued and became worse. a second call to the dealer resulted in the dealer informing me that the problem appeared to be specific to impalas, and that other customers had reported the same problem. still no fix available. i contacted chevrolet customer service, who also confirmed problem, but refused to offer a fix. the rotors are now significantly unstable and it is affecting braking action of the car in an unsafe manner. in total, i have yalked to chevy customer service three times, and have either taken the vehicle to the dealer or contacted the dealer once a month for the entire seven months i've owned the car. in short, it appears that the 2000 impala ls has a serious defect in the front brake rotors which chevrolet simply refuses to fix. *ak | |||

| Vehicle would have hard start problems, and would stall out at any time with no warning. this has happened on numerous occasions took in & was told that they would reprogram computer, other problems w car, brakes would wear out every month, odometer reading incorrectly. dealer no willing to work on vehicle unless a cash deposit was made. finally took vehicle to another dealer and was told that problems were taken care of. car in shop for 1 week, and after return of car the same problems began occurring, with the stalling, finally occoasionallywas when son driving on freeway car died while going 65mph. son had to put in neutral and restart vehicle . then finally after 1 week transmission dropped and had to be replaced. this vehicle has had various problems since date of purchase and dealers are unable to resolve problems.*ak | |||
