There are no events leading up to the passlock security system leaving a motorist stranded at any given time. the failure happens at least once a week leaving the driver stranded at whatever location he/she cuts the car off. sometimes it will be 5min before the alarm will reset and sometimes it will be days leaving the motorist without a vehicle. nothing done to correct the problem becuase in this instance the alarm won't reset so the only alternative i was given by a gm dealership is to have the system disconnected.

2005 impala, failed instrument panel. like the other 65+ complaints, my instrument panel began failing at 75,000 miles. at first, could reset with key to acc numerous times, no longer works. unplug battery resets, but at any time starts again. it seems especially bad in cold weather. when speedometer does work, jumps from 20-40-60 mph with no change in actual speed of vehicle, or drops to 0. cost is over $500 from shadetree mechanic, $800 dealership, with no vehicle for days. now, at 90,000 the temp gauge is gone too, constantly straight down, 400+ degrees, but vehicle not running hot. am starting to fill gas tank even when not necessary, should be the next gauge to fail in the cluster. unacceptable that there is no recourse for the consumer for what a $10 part, which is why it failed in the first place. my guess is, it isn't a pricey enough car to rate a repair.

My chevy impala gauge cluster began to work inappropriately in july 2007. it started with the speedometer, i was driving to work and thought that i was going 55mph but was really going 77mph. i got a ticket and three days later the needle stopped working. two months later the temp needle and fuel needle stopped working. i continued to drive the car because the dealership where i purchased the car had closed and there was not a chevy dealership in the area. in april, 2010, my entire dash stopped working, including the message center.

My 2005 impala speedometer and temperature gauge are working when they want to. i set the cruise controll at 70 mph and car seems to do fine. i dont use the cruise controll and try to hold the car at 70 mph and got a ticket for doing 82 in a 65. after getting the ticket on 12 march the speedometer after either 20 minutes of sitting or driving does not read right says below zero, then i turn car off and on to try and reset the guages work on and off.

Speedometer stops working or shows a lower speed than actual speed. this occurs at least once a week, sometimes more often. so far has not caused an crash, yet. *cn

The speedometer is at 35 mph when the car is at a standstill. the indicated speed is incorrect when the car is moving, showing a faster speed than the car is moving. *tr
