On march 14, 2013, we were accelerating from a complete stop when the service engine light came on and a message appeared in the message console that read engine power reduced. it was difficult to get the vehicle to accelerate at first, but it then responded after a few seconds. the 'service engine light stayed on. we took it to an automobile parts store so they could pull the code with a code reader. the vehicle parts store was able to pull a code reading p2138 which is for the throttle position sensor. later on that night, i went online and did some research and discovered that there are many owners of 2008 chevy impalas with the same problem. in the past year, there have been several occasions when my 2008 chevy impala tends to buckle and jerk or hesitate when accelerating from a complete stop making difficult to nearly impossible to navigate out of the way of traffic. is there any way a recall can be issued for the throttle position sensor and the gas pedal so this issue can be resolve for all owners of 2008 chevrolet impalas? please help.

The right rear door lock works intermittenly with my power door lock system on my 2008 chevy impala. also the right front passenger door lock worked intermittenly at first and now it does not respond. i have done some research online and i know i am not the only owner of a 2008 chevrolet impala with this problem. pleas help. is there any way a recall can be issued to get this issue fixed? it is impossible to unlock the right rear door from the outside with a key because there is no key hole. there is only one key hole on to unlock a door with the car key and it is on the driver side door only.

Check engine light comes on due to constant sensor failures. the first was a faulty oil sensor. the car shut down and was unable to start or run do to a service stabilitrak code. because of theboth issues we were unable to properly secure the car and its contents. the breakdown also cause us to be stranded in extremely cold weather.

I purchased my '08 impala lt used, vehicle was in perfect condition, older owner and was a seasonal vehicle as we live in south florida this owner was a snow bird and only used the vehicle 4 months out of the year. i had the car about 7 months and then i noticed a problem with the locks, they would sometimes not lock/or unlock while using the fob, the interior lock still worked for a few more months and then everything eventually ceased. now nothing works, unless you manually lock/unlock it yourself. problem is.....i have children, small children and when doing 8 other things while getting out of the car, or parking the car and getting out it is such a pain in the a** that i have to go through this with a somewhat newer vehicle!!! i tried replacing the fuse, that didn't work. i can hear the locks click, but nothing happens. well.....i had some work done to the vehicle, new tires and an alignment and had them look into it further, they did and told me the accuators need to be replaced, $1200!!! i almost passed out right there!! for something that was not the direct cause by me how irresponsible of chevrolet to allow these parts to go bad, i did a great amount of research and found this problem with quite a few owners of this very same vehicle, this and the air flow thing that makes a horrible noise, like banging!!! that will be my next complaint!! i found that apparently, the grease from one of the componets that is next to accuator is eating away at the part causing it to deafault!! chevy needs to have this recalled, asap!!! people with small children, who keep them in the back seat could have some serious problems if they are unable to get to their kids.....especially since the locks are all the way towards the rear of the door you cant even reach it from the front seat. this is supossed to me considered a full size sedan, a family car!!!

Three months after i bought my car i got in it about 7 am to go to work. when i put my car in reverse i heard a noise so i looked at the screen and the check engine light came on and the engine power is reduced light was flashing as well and my car wouldnt go over 40 mph. i called the dealership and they said to bring it in after work and they will look at it. the first time the said it was the throttle pedal assembly so i replaced that. two weeks later the same thing happened, this time they said i had a pinched wire and they fixed it. again it came on when i had been in an accident and i was told the computer was jarred so they reset it. a month later on august 18, 2012 i was sitting at a stop sign waiting to turn right and when i went to turn my car stalled out in the middle of the road and i was almost hit by a car coming around the curve. i got scared so i turned around to go home and it stalled out on me four more times before making it 5 miles down the road. i had my 3 small children in the car with me at the time and they got pretty shaken up as well.

Both rear power door locks have failed. they are inoperable from inside the vehicle. this has caused an unsafe condition for the passengers in the rear seats of the vehicle. this in a very common problem with the 2008 impalas. chevrolet is aware of the issue, but has not started a recall to address the issue.

The original equipment tires on my father's car, goodyear eagles, wore so badly on the inside that the tread split near the sidewalls & was coming off. i, a 69 year old woman, was about to leave on a trip during a downpour. fortunately, the national tire store that i use discovered the problem when doing a free pressure check or i could have had a serious problem while on the road. i know that the store didn't take advantage of me because i actually looked at the tires myself. the last tire rotation was performed by the dealer at 26,593 miles & i was not advised of uneven wear at that time.

I have a 2008 chevy impala lt with 33,619 miles on it. it has the goodyear eagle ls2 tires it came with when i bought it new in 2008. i recently had a rear leaky tire so i took it to a garage and they repaired it. while it was off the rim i noticed what looked to me to be very excessive wear to the inside sidewall of the tire. it was so unevenly worn it shocked me. i could see cords from the belts in several spots. the mechanic and i checked the other rear tire and found it to be in the same condition. he advised me to get them replaced soon as possible and to rotate the tires more often. we checked the front two tires and found them to have nearly twice as much tread and no sidewall damage that we could see. today i purchased two new tires and the mechanic who installed them suggested i get a rear wheel alignment as this make and model are notorius for rear alignment issues. being skeptical i decided to research it myself online before committing. i was shocked again to see so many people complaining of the same issue and gm's lack of response to the problem. i decided to write to this agency and voice my concerns. what if anything is being done to look into this? does someone have to be injured before anything gets done? my dad used to say whats right is right but gm's denial of a problem is not right. in this troubled economy especially, big business should be held responsible when they put out a product with issues that impact the safety and pocketbook of their customers. 2008 chevy impala $27,000. two new tires $254. future alignments and parts, labor, etc - ?

I bought my car new on june 30, 2008. in the fall of 2011 i noticed that one of the rear door locks would not actually unlock when using the fob or the unlock button on the inside of the car. now in june 2012 - neither of the rear doors will unlock unless someone is physically in the car. i have two small children - both in child safety seats and both in a harness, one is still rear-facing. to unlock the doors i either have to put my child in the front seat, lay the drivers seat down, unlock the back door, move her to the back seat and crawl across the car to unlock the passenger door (where the rear-facing seat is located) or my oldest has to crawl through the front and then unlock both doors for me. i called to see how much it would be to fix the issue and was told almost $300 each. i called gm to see if they could assist me and was told that since i was outside of the factory warranty it would be a wear and tear issue and the customer was responsible. they offered no assistance. this is a huge safety concern because there would be no way to access both harnessed children in the event of an emergency other than breaking the windows in their faces. i am very frustrated and do not know what to do at this point.

Using fob or lock/unlock buttons, the door locks randomly do not lock or unlock. it was checked, but no solution offered. with the back door locks being at the back of the door, this is a major inconvenience and can be a safety hazard for elderly and disabled individuals. it is also a safety issue when you assume the doors are locked (or unlocked), but they aren't. there should be a recall, but just like the intake manifold gasket and low quality paint issues on chevrolet vehicles in the past, i am sure there will not, and we will all continue to buy $30,000 pieces of junk!

*the dates and mileage is estimated as listed above* i bought a brand new impala in april of 2008. i was advised at my first oil change at 3000 miles that my tires needed to be rotated because they were wearing due to mileage. i did not do this because i could not believe a brand new car at 3000 miles needed a tire rotation. i was also starting to notice that the back end was sliding and felt like it was rolling, especially in ice and snow. i was advised at my second oil change (6000 miles) that my tires were almost shot and needed to be replaced. i was also informed this was because i had failed to rotate my tires. a friend who is a master mechanic felt that i needed an alignment on the car. he told me to take it back to the dealer where i bought the car and have everything replaced under warranty. in may of 2009, at approximate 6k-7k miles, i took the car to art moehn. they advised that i voided my tire warranty by not having my tires rotated. a month later i had a blowout on one of my tires. i had the tire replaced, and had an alignment done on the car. shortly thereafter, i had a new set of tires put on. in the next two years, the same thing happened. by 2011 at about 50k miles, i was on my third set of tires and had had my car aligned two times. we then found out that gm had issues with some of these 2008 impalas - with very similar stories of what i had been thru. i contacted gm customer service to ask for help with this car - requesting they fix the problem. they insisted i have yet another alignment and assessment at my cost at their specified dealer. imagine my frustration when this alignment (less than 3 mos from the previous one) yielded results that the car was already out of alignment!!! gm offered me a $1000 gift cert toward the purchase of another new gm vehicle. please help. this car is a safety hazard & needs to be fixed.

Excessive rear tire wear, rear spindle, known problem that gm should recall. gm repaired same known problem with police vehicles, same repair needs done to all vehicles. rear tires are wearing out very aggressively on the outside edges of rear tires.

While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle hesitated before jerking into gear. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure after driving it over 140 miles. after licking up the vehicle, the vehicle continues to intermittently hesitate while accelerating and would jerk in various gears. the first failure mileage was around 60000 and the currurt mileage is 88000. also sometimes would jerk from 1st gear to second gear. i have contacted the dealership again to again check out my problem. the car is still in the warranty period. after researching this problem online that other people have posted, it all seems to point to a pressure solenoid in the transmission but the dealership will not replace the part unless they can duplicate the problem.

Could not keep alignment correct. three sets of tires were ruined by 60,000 m. consequences were noise of tires, then alignment costs, and replacement of expensive tires.

With just minimialweather conditions rain and or snow was totally unstabe at any speed above 20 mph i have driven in winter weather conditions for more than 30 years this is the most dangerious and unstabe vehicle i have ever drove , it acted as if there was a broken suspension part in the rear of the vehicle , was checked by a local shop and no problem was found

Yesterday, my chevy 08 impala would not shift out of park. i contacted aaa who was unable to help me. i had my car towed to a car mechanic. he told me that the problem was that the wiresunder the gear shift lever had come unattached. i was told that even though chevy was aware of this problem there was not a recall and my manufacture's warranty would not cover it because the bumpber to bumper was over at 36, 000 miles. i had to pay $ 91 to have the wires reconnected back into the piece even though the problem is that the wires are to short to begin with and that is why they can become tangled and tear out of the connecting piece. i do not think that it is fair for the consumer to have to pay for this when it is cleary a manufature defect..

Noticed abnormal and excessive tire feathering. had researched and found previous to my own experiance that others had the same problem, so i had been monitering my own tires to see if it was a design flaw. one mechanic told me after i purchase 4 new tires, which only have 34,000 miles on a 50,000 mile rating, he would try an alignment to see if it need four new struts as he was assuming was the main problem behind the tire wear. i called a local gm service center to see if they had suggestions for me. the guy told me 4 new tires and the few others we have serviced with the same problem, an adjustment had to be made by elongating the holes to pull the tires into a good alignment, eliminating the outward camber. he found this info in a technical service bulletin. gm has recalled public service vehicles, ie police cars, of the same make and model, but has yet to see the public safety hazard behind this easily remedied issue. i was told it would cost me at-least $700 for prematurely worn tires and repairs and adjustments. imagine if i had been aware of this previous to my own incident. i would assume i still had 15-20000 miles of tread-life left and would be driving my car as if there were no problem at-all until my tires blew while driving my son back to his mothers house, causing an accident, killing my son and i as well as two others in another vehicle. there-in lays the safty issue. a prompt and thorough investigation will show it's a design flaw that is putting lives at risk. the sooner the defect is corrected, the sooner peoples lives and wallets can rest at ease. i would certainly be willing to answer any other questions regarding this issue.

Scissor jack provided by manufacturer failed. while attempting to change a flat, the jack failed while wheel was removed causing car to drop to the ground. jack use instructions reviewed an followed. surface adequately flat and solid. jack base ended up bent as did the scissor mechanism. jack failure has potential for both injury and vehicle damage.
