| The wipers will just quit at random. this has happened several times. the heater core started leaking and had to be replaced. both ball joints went bad around 30,000 miles, one under warranty, one just after 36.000 miles. the power steering pump started leaking at the pump shaft and made a real mess of the engine compartment before it was replaced. and i didn't report yet that the intake manifold started leaking oil recently and is under repair right now. this vehicle has needed alot of repairs that a quality product wouldn't have had.*ak | |||

| Failure of windshield wipers. first they would only work if it wasn't raining (cleaning windshield), now they have stopped all together. this has caused incidence of being stranded and near crashes even on christmas day with my two children and having to get rides to and from work. there is a recall on this for all other 1995 chevrolets but not the apv seems as though since this problem is occurring on this vehicle the recall should be on it also. i could hear the motor trying to work and would sometimes be able to manually push the wipers back and forth to get them working again, but now they are locked up. *jb | |||

| When i bought my van in may of 2004 i began having problems with my windshield wipers only working sporadically, i thought i would check into it and see if might be a recall regarding my vehicle. when i went online to search i found the exact problem i was having and checked to see if i was covered, i discovered multiple gm recalls that covered the problem i was having, and online it seemed as though my van qualified. when i phoned a dealer with my vin #, i was told i was not covered under the recall. i believe that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem covered by the recall of thousands of other gm vehicles. also, i have replaced the wind shield wiper motor and still have the same problem. *jb | |||

| Windshield wipers just quit,and sometime will work for a few wipes than nothing!!! then will work just like they were desighned to do,have had to pull over , and off the the highway when rain has started because the wipers wouldn't come on!!! i never know if they are going to work properly,i thought it was because of the age of my vehicle!! but i have seen where nsta is investigaing complaints on gm wipers!! so i thought i would write and voice my concerns!!! thanks for listening. *ak | |||

| Windshield wipers have failed several intermitant times. first time in 1998 at 70 miles per hour in a rain storm, wipers stopped, took car off cruise then the resumed. several intermitent times afterward. dealer wanted $400 + to fix moter. i was sceptical becuase this is not the only gm car i have driven with wiper trouble. last big incident was last fall 1999 when the wipers stopped on the interstate with my pregnant wife and child in car -200 miles from home. i could not get them to resume. checked fuse etc. waited out storm under bridge, proceded to truck stop and bought rain-x to continue journey. when i got to destination i pulled the wiper motor and it checked out fine and the switch-ok. intermitent troubles are hard to get fixed! i took wiper motor apart, cleaned brushes, and noticed some build-up on the communicator disc, and contacts for the parking mechanism. cleaned this with light abrasive -reasembled and have had no problem since, although with the wiper's history i now use rain-x all the time. i am afraid to travel in snow with kids in vehicle. i would like to sell it but with the wiper system troubles, and the cooling system that keeps leaking -new radiator, water pump, and head gasket -mechanics say pink coolant is corrosive. i can't sell it to another, and i can't afford to keep throwing money at this van. thank you.vincent walter. *ak | |||

| Front passenger door latch has broken twice in same day, garage was not able to make it function from outside the vehicle, only the inside. today the driver's door latch also broke when opening in parking lot and now will only open from inside vehicle, leaving me access only through the side door. the electric wipers and windows have refused on several occasions to operate when raining, making it either impossible to travel in the rain or very dangerous when there was no choice but to continue on. | |||

| The wipers quit working at highway speed in heavy rain and heavy traffic. it was very dangerous, and we were fortunate that no one was injured. when i went to buy the replacement, the dealer's parts guys were very familiar with the problem. they said that if i had a pickup instead of a minivan, the part would be free, as they were made so badly that they were under recall. however, since we had a minivan, they would charge us for the same problem part. the failed part number is 22101636. the new part number is 12463017. failing ckt board number: 22122142 rev. c. replacement ckt board number: 24013536 rev. c. you need to do everything you can to get gm to recall these time-bombs-for-accidents as soon as possible. they are accidents waiting to happen. if you can get me a refund at the same time, that's fine with me. i wrote gm about this several weeks ago, and they have not bothered to respond. i can mail/fax a copy of that letter to you if you like. | |||

| I have a 1995 chevrolet lumina apv minivan. i have had windshield wiper problems for years but refused to pay $300-400 to have them repaired because i felt it to be a product defect. now, gm has a massive recall on many models but mine is excluded even though i was told by a few service people over the years that it was a chronic problem in gm minivans. i want them to include my vehicle in the recall. *nlm | |||

| The front windshield wipers don't work sporadically. this has happened since january 2000. i have taken it to a small service station, a goodyear station, and heiser chevrolet. none of them can find the problem because it doesn't happen the day they have it. i just want to know the cause so i can get it fixed. it happens during rain, snow, sleet and dry days. it only affects the front wipers. the back wiper works fine even when the front wipers will not work. the front washer fluid also does not work when the wipers do not work. i turn them on and absolutely nothing happens, no attempt to work, no noise, nothing. it's as if i never turned them on. i just keep trying them, and eventually they work as if nothing was ever wrong. this can take anywhere from 5 minutes after i start driving, to the next time i drive the vehicle. i am an accident waiting to happen. i want to know if anyone has experienced this problem, and what the solution is. thank you. | |||

| Windshield wipers only work when they want to. on going problem since i bought van. chevy says no recall was issued and it's not their problem. i have replaced the motor and still have the same problem. i can not drive if it is raining due to wipers may work but they could stop working again at any time. also wiper fluid does not work when wipers do not work. i can not tell you how many failures due to it happens everytime it rains/snows/sleets. meaning they may work or may not but if they do work they always stop. *jb | |||

| Ref: nhtsa recall no. 97v017000 some of these vehicles have a strained or separated windshield washer/wiper switch wire. this can cause the windshield washer/wiper to work intermittently and could ultimately result in inoperative wipers. this has occurred twice during operation of my vehicle while driving on interstate highways and needing the wipers during a sudden rain storm. five minutes later the wipers would be working again. i have contacted both the dealer i bought the new car from, and chevrolet (1-800-222-1020) and neither knew anything about this type of problem. *la | |||
