I was traveling to brighton, co from ft. morgan, co to seller my 2000 chevy malibu. our intended purpose was to take the funds from the sell and pick up 1996 chevy s10. prior to this trip my car had difficulting starting but never failed to start after several attempts. the car engine stalled coming off of the off ramp at around 30 mph. when the car stalled i had to manually steer the vehicle to get it to the shoulder of the road (i just had carpul tunnel surgery and it was painful to do so). after about 2 minutes i attempted to restart the car and it restarted after about the forth attempt at turning the key on waiting 30 seconds for the fuel pump and then turning the key over the rest of the way. after about 2 city blocks the car stalled again going around 20 mph. this time it took much longer before the car would start again. about 25 minutes, we let the engine cool and again it took several attempts to turn the motor over but it final did start. it traveled about a mile and stalled again going about 5 mph. this time we let the car sit for an hour and re attempted to start it. it went another mile and stalled again. we contacted a mechanic who suggested it may be the fuel regulator or the fuel pump. we have replaced the regulator and that did not work we have tested the fuel pump and it is working fine. i have read several documents involving this issue and i am still no closer to figuring out what the problem is. i only know i am not the only one having this issue. this car also has a faulty check engine light and does not appear to be over heating when it stalls. the theft light comes on intermittantly but i have check the vin on my car with chevy and there is no recall for my car. why is this happening at 115k. this could be very dangerous and i have half a mind to call a news station. i'm sure chevy would love the new advertising. please fix

The truth is all i want is my safety and my problem is very serious +the problem is listed under the nhtsa defect investigation# ea02037 and recall# 03v327000 with dates of recall from feb 1st 2000 - may 31 2001 my vehicle was manufactured in oklahoma in april 2000 however calling gm a representative of gm named jessica informed me that my gm is not on the recall list after 30 min of trying to figure out why i asked for a supervisor named teresa whom was not in the office and is supposed to call back and then i asked for that person supervisor presumably the manager and i was told i could not speak to that person and when i asked for that persons name i was told that the managers it was against company policy to give out the managers name and also against company policy to give out any last names furthermore i was given incorrect information about the manufacturing plant of my vehicle. i believe i should have my car on the recall list if i fit the description accurately and fall in between the correct dates it is a very serious safety hazard and could become fatal if not fixed very soon

2000 chevy malibu. antitheft system randomly engages and will not allow the car to be started. we have to key lock and unlock the doors, have had to unhook the battery(which we just replaced in hopes that that was part of the problem) , and let the car sit for ten minutes in hopes that it will reset itself. at 2:30 in the morning, and the neighborhood i work in, this is unsafe.

Passlock anti theft device (or system) in 2000 chevrolet malibu. passive anti theft comes on and refuses to let the automobile start if there is even a hiccup in the starting process the car will not start unless left in acc for 10 minutes. this has proven to be a dangerous situation. i received a call that my daughter was in an accident and i was needed. went to start my vehicle, there was a hiccup in the process and my automobile refused to start for 10 minutes. in an emergent situation with absolutely no control over your vehicle is a very dangerous situation. luckily in this case the 10 minutes did not make a difference in the outcome, however in an emergency 10 minutes could prove to be life threatening. i repeat - to not have control over one's own vehicle is not acceptable at the least and extremely dangerous in an emergency. gm wants $500 to replace the necessary module - which will fail again. $500 to regain control over my own vehicle is not acceptable. gm should be required to place a switch within reasonable access so the owner of the vehicle can determine whether or not this dangerous equipment can be enabled. again - this situation is not acceptable and gm should be held accountable. *tr
