I'm very unhappy as a chevrolet client. my car has completely locked up and will not start due to the anti theft system. upon a diagnosis, the chevy mechanic told me it its my duty to get it towed to a shop only to have it hooked to a machine for $110 an hour only to get the car turned back on. i have seen that this is a common problem with this model of car and i'm very mad that it costs me and not chevy for this avoidable, tedious problem. i thought their cars were suppose to be reliable. i will never buy another chevy again! -very disappointed chevy owner

While driving on the freeway i was rear ended and pushed into the center divider and bounced off only to be struck again from the rear. the front and rear quarter panels were damaged the frame was compromised. my complaint is that the airbags never deployed. i suffered back, arm, leg & knee injuries in the collision. the car has been totaled by my insurance company but i am still curious as to what happened to the safety air bags.

The anti theft system activated about 4 times for no reason in the past 3 months. each time i followed the instructions in the owners manual and re booted the system. then while i was driving the car sputtered and stalled. the car won't start. the fuel pump is broken. why you ask did the fuel pump break. because each time the anti theft system activated itself for no reason it shut off the fuel pump. this repeatedly shutting off the fuel pump causes the pump to break. this results in a $500+ repair bill plus the cost to tow the car plus sales tax making the repair $600. chevy is aware that this is a very common problem with malibu's. the defective anti theft system in effect causes other parts such as the fuel pump to break. chevy profits by selling fuel pump modules each time there is breakage and this is why chevy is covering up the problem! the chevy malibu's should be recalled immediately and repairs made to fuel pumps and anth theft systems because cars stalling on roadways are a safety hazard.

My 2003 chevy malibu wouldn't turn over noticed the anti theft light was blinking had to reset the system with the key because it wasn't getting gas. before my vehicle would start read online about other people having the same problem this isn't safe gm needs to recall and fix this problem. with the passlock 2 system they have installed in these vehicles i have kids and am glad it didn't happen on the freeway with them in the car.

My 17 year old daughter has a 2003 chevy malibu and she was stranded the other day because her car shut off and would not start back up....my husband changed the fuel filter thinking that might be what it was with no success. i found on the internet today about the way to reset the anti theft system and it worked, but people have been saying that once this problem starts it doesn't stop happening. i feel that this is a safety issue for a young lady to be out somewhere and the car not start. i read many complaints about the same exact problem and i feel that it is a shame that cherolet won't recall the problem....if it is not recalled i will never buy another chevy!!!

I bought a chevy malibu new in 2003. i never knew it had any anti theft device. three weeks ago the anti theft light came on. i ignored it. after a few days the car would not start. the engine started to run but sputtered out. i looked in the instruction manual that came with the car. it says if the anti theft light comes on (for no reason) turn ignition to on position wait ten minutes turn car off and the car will start. i followed instructions and car started. same thing happened again yesterday. i followed instructions and car runs again. problem i have is why would the anti theft system be activated for no reason? chevy knew this happens and this is why they have it written up in the instruction manual. if the anti theft system is faulty ie comes on for no reason and prohibits the car from starting, chevy should not have installed it in the first place.

At least once a week since purchasing the car i am unable to start it because the anti-theft system will block the car from starting. i will put the key in the ignition and the sensor light will flash. i have to wait exactly 10 minutes with the key turned to on before the light stops flashing and i can turn the car off and back on again. on a few occasions this has occurred back to back resulting in having to wait at least 20 minutes to start my car. i have seen that this is a common problem for this car, which seems to defeat the purpose of a safety feature if you have to wait in a dark parking lot alone for 10 minutes because of faulty construction.

My 2003 chevrolet malibu shuts off while driving. it happens two or three times each day. initially i only had problems with the engine not starting and having to wait 10 minutes before starting. it is a very dangerous situation. i went to a repair shop nd they said it was my ignition. this is a scary and dangerous situation.

The car is a 2003 chevrolet malibu. the car was purchased used and therefore the events leading up the failure are not known. the problem that the car has is that the rpms increase dramatically while driving. this makes the car difficult to stop and extreme pressure must be applied to the breaks to stop and keep the car stopped. when the vehicle is stopped and the problem is occurring, the engine can be heard making louder than usual noises. when the rpms increase, the speed of the car increases without the gas pedal being pressed. it is very difficult to keep the car moving at a reasonable speed because of this. at the present time, the check engine light is on, but the activation of the check engine light does not usually occur at the same time as the problem described above. the problem occurs at an of four times a week and occurs more often when the car is driven on back roads instead of highways.

My turn signals and hazzard lights do not always work. sometimes they don't work at all and other times they blink a few times and then stop. i drive on major interstates and i'm always afraid that this will cause an accident. i cannot predict if or when it will happen. when it does happen, if i tap or lightly press the flasher button on the dash it seems to help. i've seen other reports of the same problem. this is a major safety flaw.

Have a 2003 chevy malibu with an passlock anti theft system in it. this system is acting up considerably and when i bring it to the gm dealer i get charged more and more money but no solution to the problem, because their computers do not detect the problem. as i have done research on this issue, there are many many people having the same problem. there are also many instances where this system has caused cars to stall while being driven down the highway, and this has happend to me as well.

The anti-theft system in my 2003 chevrolet malibu is defective, apparently this is a problem for just about every owner of a chevy malibu. this needs to be recalled by gm!!!! about once or twice a week when i attempt to start my car i pray the anti-theft system does not blink, because when it blinks that means the car isn't going to start. the owner's manual states that if this occurs then turn the key to the on position and let it sit for 10 minutes and then turn the key to off and start the car as normal. well for about 1 year this worked, it was a hassle, but it worked. now after about a year of this pain in the butt routine twice a week to start my car, finally it died on me while driving and will no longer start. gm is obviously aware of this malfunction because they have given instructions on how to deal with it in the owner's manual, the problem is they haven't done anything to correct the problem, after their suggestion fails to start the car. this malfunction needs to be recalled!!!!!!! *tr

Intermittently the vehicle will not start because the anti-theft system kept locking the vehicle. it takes several minutes (ten min or so) for the system to re-set and allow the vehicle to start. dealerships are not able to correct this problem. com- plaints registered on www.mystats.com/safety station are numerous (at least 40) concerning this problem. several people have reported that the vehicle will suddenly stop running while driving in motion. gm should recall and correct this immediately. *tr |
