Brake lights remain on with no contact with brake pedal. when pedal is depressed the brake lights go off. this has caused numerous 'road rage' incidents and near-miss rear-end collisions.

Front brake/rotor/caliper failure. i have had my rotors, front pads and calipers replaced numerous times rotors 6 times, calipers 6 times and front pads each time repair was done to the car due to faulty design, the calipers hang up and do not release all the way causing the inner pads to wear abnormally. brake problems almost resulted in an accident.

I own a 2005 chevy malibu ls v6, the brake pedal grinds when you press it, then it is hard to get the car into gear, the brake lights will stay on or not come on at all. i was told by the dealership when under warranty that they had to place the entire computer system back in oct 2006, but it is continuing to have the same problems that it did in 2006. *tr

While driving after a recent episode of rain, i tried to come to a stop at a red light. i was driving down hill at approximately 20 mph when i stepped on the brake. as soon as i stepped on the brake, i began sliding at a diagonal to the direction of the street. i tried to compensate because i was approaching oncoming traffic and then began to slide the opposite direction, but still diagonal to the street on which i was traveling. i again tried to gain control of the car and almost turned perpendicular. i was finally able to gain control of my car, after going through a red light and almost sliding into head on traffic. all 4 of my tires must have been locked up to slide on a damp surface without regaining traction until an excessive amount of maneuvering was done. this incident could have resulted in death. i am in the process of finding out what i can do to have this problem investigated so that my life, or my son's life, is not put into danger again. *tr

When lightly applying pressure to brakes on freeway, traveling at approximately 60 mph, the tires completely locked up and the car pulled uncontrollably to the left, causing the car to fish tail and slide sideways down the freeway. vehicle suffered damage to the front end when colliding with the cement median. i will never feel safe getting into this vehicle and getting behind the wheel again. according to the chevrolet dealer there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and all systems are working as designed. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet malibu. when turning the steering wheel, the contact heard a popping sound. the failure began six months ago and now it is causing the power steering to fail. the failure was very subtle at first, but now the power steering fails for days at a time. the air conditioning would activate on and off, but now it does not work at all. the dealer stated that the power steering module and air conditioning resistor needed to be replaced. the contact also stated that the control panel is warm to the touch after driving for some time. the vehicle is currently with the dealer and the repair will cost over $900. the current mileage was 70,000 and failure mileage was 50,000. updated 09/10/08. *lj the consumer stated the shocks went bad, the tie rod ends had to be replaced, the cd became stuck in the cd player. the rear calipers had to be replaced and the starter worked intermittently. updated 09/12/08. *jb

Pulls to the left, broken struts, broken brake calipers, rear turn signal broke! anytime i mess with tires or brakes the car pulls more and more to the left, haven't had steering checked but its driving me nuts. i thought it was from the front right strut being cracked and broken but the dealership says it shouldn't effect the pull to the left. got new tires last week and new brakes, still pulls. tail light quit working, changed bulbs then quit again. car is driving me nuts, worried about driving it across country this summer! recall it soon - please!!! *jb

I was having trouble with the brakes on my car. it is a 2005 chevrolet malibu. i took the car to midas and had the front brakes replaced in april. i didn't drive the car for about 2 weeks after that. when i got back into town i drove as usual. in the middle of june when i would step hard on the brakes the brake light would come on and the warning bell would go off. i took the car back to midas to have it checked on june 23rd. the brake fluid was less than half full. the mechanic checked the brakes. when he lifted the car up you could see where the brake fluid was leaking. he said the caliper on the right brake had blown the seal. he replaced the caliper. he had to get it from california. he said the caliper shouldn't have blown because the car was only over a year old. *jb
