While driving vehicle i was being followed by my daughter who thought i was riding my brakes. it turns out that the brake lights are going off when the brakes are applied and coming on when brakes are released. this also affects the cruise control as it will not work when the brake lights come on. this is a very dangerous issue. people driving behind me don't know if i'm stopping or not! there are countless numbers of people with this same problem and the dealerships don't have the answer to fix it. this should be a recall if there ever was one! *tr

I have a 2006 chevrolet malibu with defective brake lights. when you are traveling down the road the brake lights are on as if you are riding your brakes and then when you do apply your brakes the brake lights go off! this is very dangerous when people don't know you are slowing down and almost rear end you! i have had my car in the shop for almost a week and the chevrolet dealership cannot locate the problem to fix it. something needs to be done before it is too late and someone gets hurt!

The 2006 chevy malibu, that i own, has steering problems where the electric power steering goes off making the car virtually impossible to steer. it has done this 8 to 10 times the last few months. it then resets itself, so i hear. luckily, so far, it has happened only at low speeds. this car started having this problem at around 50,000 miles. if this happened at high speeds, accidents/deaths could certainly occur. i searched online and see that many malibu owners have had the same incidence with the steering. my steering is also making a thumping noise at low speed turns. i took my car to the dealership where purchased. they said it would cost $1400 to fix the steering problem. i feel gm should recall these vehicles for safety reasons. the whole steering system in these vehicles are a disaster and these cars should be addressed before someone is seriously hurt. gm needs to stand behind their vehicles, especially in regards to safety. *tr

I was driving on the interstate on 11/18/2012, when a car cut across all three lanes. it had not been raining, and the roads were dry, but when i applied my brakes to avoid hitting the car that cut me off, my wheels locked up sending me fishtailing at 70+ mph. i slid into the center lane, striking a vehicle on my right rear corner panel. i then repeatedly tried to pump my brakes and turn into the skid to regain control of the vehicle, and each time the wheels locked up again. after failing to regain control of my vehicle i hit the center guard rail, still going 60+ mph, collapsing the whole left side of my vehicle. after skidding to a stop, my service airbag warning came up on my center dashboard display, without even deploying. my car has been deemed totaled by insurance, and is no longer safe to drive. i was the only person in the car at the time, and emt's and fire fighters that arrived to the scene said if it weren't for the lack of cars on the road, i may not have survived.

The brake lights on my 2006 chevy malibu work almost completely opposite of what they should. most of the time, i press the brake and the brake lights turn off, when the brake is released, within 10 seconds the brake lights come back on and remain steady on. when i go over bumps in the road, this may turn the brake lights on or off. most of the time my brake lights are on, until the brakes are applied and the the lights usually turn off. i have adressed this issue to no avail from the dealer i bought the car from, as well as with chevrolet. i even brought it to a chevrolet delaer after taking advice from chevrolet to do so, and they cannot duplicate the problem to fix it. their computer says there is not a problem, but there is!!! i have video of it too. this is always what is told to me, however, the second i get my car back, the problem occurs for me. i think this is total bs.

This has been a good car for the most part great on gas but last week the brakes felt real hard to push so i replace with new brakes front and rear the old brakes looked almost new now the brake tail light come when you start the car and dont go off unless you depress them. drivers think your stopping when your driving and when braking they cant tell because lights go out.also for the past 3 years the power steering light comes on and you lose your steering control i wonder if and when someone has to die befoe gm recalls and fix the proplems

Tl. the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated while driving 60 mph the brake lights will engage while the vehicle is accelerating and the brake light disengage when the brakes are applied. the contact to the vehicle to a dealer to have the brake light switch replaced. after the repair the brake light switch malfunctioned. the contact replaced the brake light switch instead of taking the vehicle to the dealer. after replacing the brake light switch the switch malfunctioned again. the contact tried to replace the brake light switch but the wiring for the brake light switch needs to be replaced. the contact has not taken the vehicle back to the dealer for a diagnostic test on the vehicle. the contact stated the brake light switch will cause a crash because it confuses other drivers on the road. the failure mileage was 130,000. jo

I have a 2006 chevy malibu that i bought in sacramento ca. via paul blanco dealer on franklin and florin rd. (they are no longer in business at that site). the car accelerates dangerously when on cruise control. the car began overheating immediately after purchase (oil lube place detected an engine gasket that needs to be replaced because it continues to overheat; unless i keep the heater and or ac going; the steering column had to be re greased and re-adjusted at firestone a few months ago because all of a sudden it would lock. the a/c compressor immediately went bad after purchasing this car. i had to buy another one which cost a good amount! soon after purchase (used vehicle with approx. 10,300 miles) the brakes went out and had to be replaced! in jan. 2010, i noticed the seat belt light kept coming on, even after it was locked in (which is very dangerous because i don't know when and if its going to keep me safe when driving); erc. etc.. i need someone to contact the dealer of chevy so that owners can go get these things checked out and fixed the right way. i attempted to call the numbers given re: warranty etc. and nothing was resolved. *tr
