The door locks do not work. how is this not a safety problem? sometimes the door locks work sometimes they don't. i have a newborn that rides in the backseat. if the doorlocks don't work, the only way to unlock the back door is to either roll down the rear window or crawl into the back seat from the front. if i had to get my child out of the car in an emergency, i don't know how i would do that without working door locks. i have researched this problem online and it appears this is a common problem with this car.

The driver's side rear door lock no longer works when using the power lock button. it must be actuated manually- by manually lifting the knob up. the main problem is the knob is located to the rear of the door and is not accessible unless you are in the back seat- the knob cannot be raised from the front seat area of the vehicle in order to unlock the door to help occupants exit the vehicle, especially in case of emergency. the lock pull knob is located in a poor position.

Turn signal arm does not stay in place when signaling to turn. also the turn signal arm when it does stay in place it will not return to normal position/turn off signal by itself after making a turn. when turning the steering wheel it makes popping noises. door locks on all doors stay either in the lock or unlock position at all times. one of the rear passenger door lock has been replaced at the dealership for $300.00 and the door lock still fails. the only way to unlock the passenger doors is to do it manually and climb over the seats. the driver door has to be unlocked with the key and manually locked when exiting the vehicle.

After returning grocery shopping i could not get groceries into back seat, door would not unlock . this could have been going on for months as i always put groceries in front passenger seat and floor and never used rear doors . approximately 1-2 weeks later other rear passenger door would not lock or unlock. i contacted dealer who stated gm might work with me to help a little but doubt it as my mileage was at 42000 miles. after checking online i found numerous complaints from malibu owners that this has happened to them at 40,000 - 50,000 miles after the warranty is over. this problem should be covered by gm as it shows a defect in the actuater in doors go bad, as well as a negligent safety hazard knowing many cars having this problem. is it going toi take someone to die in rear seats due to this defect when an accident or fire occurs. this is a huge safety hazard as children in the back seat cannot open door if there was an accident or fire, as well as a policeman/fireman/rescuerer, cannot open either rear doors from the outside. you have to crawl over and sqeeze in between front seats and have entire body in back seats before you can reach the door locks to manually open them. this is going to cost me approx $400-$500.00 for rear doors and reading other customers this could eventually apply to all doors including front doors (another $400-$500.00). this is my first chevy i purchased brand new and will probably my last.

My 2008 chevy malibu ltz 4 cylinder has a very serious design flaw which gm/chevy refuse to acknowledge. it is putting my family and i and possible danger. the vehicle experiences very severe lags and hesitation at variable intervals while driving either stop and go or on a highway. last month while driving on rt. 95 in connecticut, our vehicle acted up and it would not accelerate and shift between gears properly. the serious lags wher the vehicle is inbetween gears with no engine/trans. engagement, left us close to being run over by a tractor trailer.

Steering wheel shakes intermittently throughout each day for approximately the past 50 days as of may 20, 2011. sometimes occurs when car is initially turned on (shakes quickly to the left and right as if a little child was playing with the steering wheel). shaking will also take place spontaneously while driving at various speeds. on may 10, 2011 passenger side power locks began to malfunction-would not lock or open when using power button inside car or using remote. locking and unlocking had to be done manually by pulling up or pushing down lock.

The chevy malibu ltz spring edition 4 cylinder engine 6 speed transmission has a very serious delay or lag in communication between the engine and the transmission. at times, the lag is so severe that when the response time does finally register for the vehicle to accelerate and then attempt to stop, the vehicle still intends to go ahead as planned prior to the braking of the vehicle. this occurs at any time, hot or cold engine, during hot weather and on short drives or long ones. the dealer and gm has finally acknowledged there is some short of proble; numerous attempts to correct the problem through software updates have been unsuccessful thus far.

My car locks on all 4 doors has to be manually locked, when they are electrical. and when i use the remote to unlock the doors, and i open a door, the alarm sounds. the locks on my doors has not been working for a long time, and of course i am out of the warranty time. i think there should be a recall on that. it really gets tiring. the warning light for the air bags and tire pressure moitor has been coming on since forever, again, i think a recall should be called for these cars.

Just go over my 36,000 mile warranty, and the power steering problem indicator came up on my dash. the steering wheel starts moving frantically on it's own, whenever it wants to, even if you are driving the car. this could be a big hazard. i call the dealer, and of course it's not included in the power train warranty, even though the power steering is electric in my 2008 4 cylinder malibu. the dealer also stated no recalls on my malibu, but this should definately be a recall, since i see chevy cobalt is being recalled for the same thing. please help. i have to take the car in for service, the dealer states it is the power steering electric box or in the power steering column.
