| Gm had a recall for the failure of the electronic control unit of the wipers on their suburbans, but it did not include pick up trucks. i personally know of 3 other people who have had the same exact failure of this component. i have contacted the gm corporation without any return other than the recall did not include pickups. don't figure...is the same kind of vehicle with same component failure. i was fortunate in my small accident. i received minimal damage due to hitting a curb and blowing out a tire. the damage was to the tire, ruining it, plus knocking the alignment out. i live in new mexico where rain is a rarity and whiper/washer use is at a minimum. i was in florida at the time of the accident and was caught in a sudden rain down pour which did not allow me enough time to safely pull over to the side of the road and bang on the whiper unit to get it to operate. the unit has been replaced at a cost of approx. $ 62. to which i think that gm should pay for. they had knowledge of this being a problem and did not follow up on anything other than their suburbans. glad i am not an accident statistic due to their lack of concern. please, can you do something about this for other peoples' sake.thank you. *ak | |||

| Complaint received via e-mail. i have a 1994 chevrolet pickup, the windshield wipers have stopped several times while i was driving in the rain. i heard through a friend that there was a recall for my type of truck. this prompted me to come to this site and look it up. i found a recall with campaign id number 03v159000. i then called a local dealer and after giving my vin #, i was told that there were no open campaigns on this vehicle. i then called the 800 number for chevrolet that was on the report and was also told by them that there were no open campaigns on my vehicle. i understand that there was an analysis done that probably produced a list on vins that were affected by this recall. however, my vehicle was exhibiting the same symptoms as those listed in the recall. this was a very dangerous situation. at the current time i do not have the resources to have the repairs made. i believe that if this problem resulted in a recall of these vehicles to repair the circuit board, and my vehicle was showing the same symptoms, the company should at least evaluate the problem to see if this was the cause of my windshield wipers malfunctioning. i do not believe that this was an unreasonable request. *ak (11/23/05) *sc i do not remember the exact date that i called, however it was between the 2nd and 20th of november 2004. i did however write down the service request number given to me by the representative i spoke with. service request # 1-276472594 | |||

| Windshield wiper motor relay failure mutiple times. the most recent failure was on march 6, 2001 occurring in a major rainstorm on intersate 40 in arizona at the time of the failure, my wife was with me. the rain was so intense it almost caused me to crash as i could not see through the windshield. i previously contated chevrolet who admitted there was a problem with the windshield wiper motors. there was also a safety recall reported, however, my truck was not built at a certain site so it did not qualify. i had my truck repaired today and the shop informed me this is a very common problem with chevrolet truck type vehicles. the windshield wiper failure is a definite safety hazard. it is quite apparent that chevrolet is aware of this problem, however, refuses to issue a recall. i appreciate any help you can provide me with this problem. thanks - rudy blum. *ak | |||
