The ebcm module for the anti locking brakes has a circuit that is stuck open, thus rendering my abs inoperable on my truck. the service director at sir walter chev. in raleigh, nc told me he has seen this problem many times and that the repair will be about $1000.00. the service director at chris leith chev in wake forest nc told me he would not work with me because of high mileage even though time has not expired on my warranty. i understand that my warranty is out. he said he heard rumors about a campaign to fix same but does not know if it will occur. ( at the dealership after being told they would not repair same i left. i turned around and walked back in to ask if there was any way to defeat the lights on the dash and caught them off guard. it appeared they were laughing knowing i was going to be screwed out of $1000 dollars)i went on line and found message boards galore with the same problem and all were pissed off that chev. will not fix same. this is a reoccuring problem and i need your help. the only other problem is a very sticky throttle body that is dangerous.

When braking, the vehicle seems to accelerate sometimes (has happened 15-20 times since purchasing the car may, 1999.) this has happened at various speeds - no accidents yet, but the chevrolet dealer has not responded because they cannot positively determine a failure and they don't have enough similar complaints to warrant a gunshot repair. *ak

Consumer had brake rotors and brake shoes replaced on 1999 chevrolet silverado due to rusted rotors. *ts (11/17/05) the front sensor was replaced which lasted for a few weeks. the hub assembly was replaced due to the bearings. the routers were rusty and were replaced along with the brake shoes due to the anti-lock brakes disengaging the brakes which were not allowing the brakes to clean up the routers. the anti-lock brakes still did not work as the new routers started to rust. the anti-lock brakes were disconnected and the vehicle begun to stop properly. the doors were also rusty. the brake pedal would jump as if it were going into an anti-lock stop. *sc

We have firestone wilderness at p265/75r16 114s m/s tires on our 1999 chev 1/2 ton pickup truck. 2 of the tires had to be replaced at our cost as tires received on new vehicles are not covered by road hazard warranty. we have also had 3 flat tires. all of the problems appear to be due to rocks puncturing the tires. we do some driving on gravel roads in our area and these tires apparently can't be driven on gravel roads safely. i would guess that we are lucky to br alive with such poor quality tires on the truck. i wrote to firestone about the problems with these tires on january 22, 1999 (firestone technical services, 2100 international parkway, woodbridge, il 60517) complaining about the 2 replacements (the replaced tires were almost new then) that were necessary, but never heard from them. in my opinion, these tires should be added to the recall. i would be happy to provide documentation for the above if you request it. thank you. bob johnston, 83 voyageurs point, grand marais, mn 55604, 218-388-4425, bobj@boreal.org. *ak( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 )
