 2000 chevy s10 2.2l auto 76k mi. passlock issue. will not start. left stranded then starts after 10 min or so. i have to leave the motor running when filling up with gas otherwise car will not move for 10 minutes.emergency situation car will not move right away. what if it stalls in traffic or on railroad tracks? this happens randomly every 4-5 start cycles. my understanding this has been an ongoing gm issue. ether disable it or fix it. i have replaced both the ignition switch and the key lock assembly at great expense and the problem still exists gm offers no assistance in this manner!!!

 Bought a 2000 chevy truck from a used car dealer in oct. 2005. it had approx. 92,000 miles on it. over the last year i have had to replace the starter 3 times. with only approx. 35,000 miles being put on truck. in late may of 2008 we were told that flywheel had to be replaced also because it was the additional problem. less than 2 months later starter is bad and now they are telling me that it might be a bad cam sensor. dealership has told me that a service memo has gone out to mechanics. who is responsible for the repairs and my loss time of work ? thank you for your help. terry martin *tr

 This complaint is about the 2000 chevrolet s-10 pickup truck with the 4 cln. motor. it first started going dead while driving up the road. i would pull over, turn it completely off and restart it without a problem. after giving it a tune up it stopped going dead but began stalling when trying to pull off from a stop sign or traffic light. i would be surprised if no one has been killed yet because of this. i have asked several people i have seen with this type of truck and they have had the same problem. *tr

 Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s-10. the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. once the vehicle was restarted, it was found that the battery was dead. when the battery was charged, the vehicle failed to start the following day. the starter was replaced and the vehicle was able to be restarted. in cold weather, the vehicle would not start. the gas line filler was replaced, but the failure recurred. the vehicle has not yet been repaired properly. the failure and current mileages were less than 15,000. updated 1/8/09 *cn updated 01/14/09. *jb

 Soon after purchase (sometime in 2001), check engine light came on. diagnosed as water in air pump and check valve corroded open. brought to dealer several times to have repaired with only the last service successful. forward to present. again, check engine light illuminated. computer scanned, same diagnosis. even after previous failures with air pump and check valve, no longer warranted. *jb

 I own a 2000 chevrolet s-10 pick up truck. i have a problem with the check engine light on. i took my vehicle to a chevrolet dealership the past a couple of times and was advised that the smog pump needs to be replaced. the dealer advised me that this is a problem with every 2000 chevrolet pick up truck and that gm needs to issue a recall for this problem. i a writing to know what is the process for getting a recall started. thank you. *jb

 I have a 2000 chevy s-10, 4.3 liter with 69300 miles on it. the engine on this vehicle does not want to turn over and run. i 've had this happen on 5 occasions within the past month. i know it is a gas problem getting to the carburetor since i have splashed a little gas or starting fluid in the carburetor to see if the engine will fire up. the engine does start but shuts down because of a lack of fuel to keep it running. i have replace fuel filter 2 times, map sensor and have recently read that gm used a sock strainer on the fuel pump that tends to get clogged up. i also understand that gm has resolved this problem with a different style of strainer. i am very concerned about this since the last time my engine failed i was driving on a busy cleveland, ohio interstate (i-77 by pershing ave exit ramp). i was able to get the vehicle restarted after several attempts to turn the engine over. i have seen cars on the side of the interstate get hit and concerned for my own safety and health if this should occur again. i believe since gm has and has knowledge of this defect on their part that they should recall all vehicles that use or used this type of strainer on the fuel pump unit. it is just a matter of time before someone is killed because of this irresponsible action on gm to havethe vehicles that are on the road with the problem fuel pump stainer. *tr

 From a stationary position at a stop light i proceeded through a moderate dip into the middle of the busy intersection. while traveling through the intersection the spare tire completely fell off of underside of 2000 chevy s-10 truck. upon inspection, i noticed that the cable snapped approximately 1/8 inch inside of the connector at the end of the cable. i retained as many of the parts as i could find including the end where the cable snapped (they were in the middle of a busy intersection), cable and winch are still attached to car, and spare tire remains in the bed of the truck. car turning behind me luckily was not following closely and was able to negotiate around the tire rolling through the intersection. *jb

 No accident took place but the transmission in two separate 2000 model s-10 and an s-10 blazer have gone out in the same exact manner within 3,000 miles of each other and both vehicles were primarily driven in two different parts of the country. the slipping of these trannys is so sudden that it actually almost became a safety concern while on the highway. i apologize if this is being sent to the wrong dept. but i would like to find out if chevy has had any recalls on these models as well. thanks! *tr

 Transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and displays code 1780, ever since 50 k miles. had local transmission shop make the tfb change gm recommended and problem reappeared after 15k. i am sure i be told that now with 130k miles out of warranty, still if happened way back. additionally the transmission fluid has been changed ever 15k and is driven in light highway conditions. check this site to see how many numerous reports have been made. http://www.cartrackers.com/forums/live/yourlemon/160.html just wonder why after so long no action been taken to correct known problem. *nm

 The passenger side seat of my 2000 s10 pickup does not catch after you move it forward to gain access to the back of the seats. in order to get catch, i have to push as hard as i can back into the full back position. if this is not done and i make a sudden stop the passenger and seat are thrown forward toward the windshield. when i took it to the dealer the first time this happened they said the could not find anything wrong with the passenger seat but did fix the driver's seat that was doing the same thing. i have seen similar reports on some websites about s10's. this has been going on since i have owned the vehicle. since i am now aware of the problem i know how to avoid it but it is a problem that should be fixed by the manufacturer.*jb

 Approaching an on-ramp, attempted to stop, loss of brake functionality. resulted in a crash. one person was ambulanced to hospital. the mechanic later found that the brake line was ruptured. i recieved a ticket. i kept the brake line.

 Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds on wet roads with brake pressure applied, there was a longer braking distance. the dealer was contacted. updated 2/12/2007 - the failure always occurred on snow covered roads. the consumer also indicated that the brake pedal vibrated and that there was a loud groaning noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem. *nm

 Dt*: the contact stated while driving 5 mph and applying the brakes, the pedal became locked by the abs system. this caused the pedal to pulsate as if it was sliding on ice, but the roads were dry. the defect also created an increased stopping distance. the vehicle ended up crashing into guardrails which caused damage to the front side of the truck. a police report was taken. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that there was a defect in the abs system causing the pedal to lock. there was a recall #05v379000 regarding the service brakes:hydraulic:antilock, however the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

 Noticed noise from under vehicle during turning and going over bumps found crack in frame rail on both the drivers and passengers side of the vehicle where the independent front suspension is mounted to the frame frame had to be welded and a strap put in place to eliminate further cracking. *nm

 On 11/08/06 i bought 4 new tires from sears at the regency mall in jacksonville, florida. on 7/17/07 i was on the highway on my way to sears again when i changed lanes and had a blowout. at most i ran over one of the reflectors on the road lines, but the blowout was so big i would have had to run over something much larger and sharper. i would have seen it. i went back to sears and explained what had happened. they insisted that i ran over something i knew i did not. i even went back and checked the road. shortly thereafter i developed an undetectable air leak on the side of the tire. i took the tire to a tire store. the worker told me that the tire was defective, though store management would not back his statement in writing. time has passed long enough that if those tires were truly defective their would be a track record of this particular brand of tire. i had to replace the one tire, that had the big blowout and the other tire , the repairman was unable to fix. i put some of the liquid fix it in it and that seemed to mend it. i think they are defective. the tire information is as follows: brand: falken zirex tubeless dot v4ku-3mtr2606 pr-181-235/60r16 ze512 100h m+s u5061 *tr
