Defect Summary	Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, 2 and 4-wheel drive. solder joints near the wiring harness connector can crack causing the windshield wipers to work intermittently.
Consequence Summary	This condition can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Corrective Summary	Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover.
Notes	Owner notification began december 15, 1998.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

	Windshield wipers are intermittent, it was taken to the dealership and verified, however, this vin was not included in the recall for the 95 chevrolet blazer 2. antilock brakes were also inspected and found to be defective by dealership, but again the vin for this vehicle was not included in the recall for the anti-lock brakes for 95 chevrolet blazers. 3. passenger side rear view mirror has cracked and broke off two times. the cracks are originating on the underside of the mirror support. after speaking with the dealership, they indicated to have the same problem with their parts vehicle which is also a 95 chevrolet blazer, and i have talked with two other people who own blazers who had the same defect. i have also tried to locate a used mirror in junk yards, in altus ok, lubbock, tx, and valdosta ga. none of the junk yards had any, they had the vehicles but the mirrors had already been bought. they second mirror i installed broke off and was dangling by the wires while driving down the interstate at 70mph nearly causing an accident, and not to mention it made it difficult to see drivers on the passenger side of the vehicle while changing lanes.

	I went to your web site to check out all recalls on my 1995 chev. s10, i been having problems with my windshield wiper/washer for about a couple of years and never recieved a recall on this problem so i contacted chevrolet about this problem and they refuse to fix this ploblem on my 95 s10.

	Under rainy conditions, consumer states the windshield wipers will suddenly stop. they may come back on or may not. consumer feels unsafe driving under these conditions. please provide any further information. ts

	The windshield wiper system is intermittently inoperable at times. identical to nhtsa campaign id # 98v150001. chevrolet refuses to accept my vehicle under this recall since it was manufactured 7/94 instead of 8/94. i had the problem fixed by chevy; the fix consisted of replacing the same board identified by the recall. i had an electrician exam the board, since i kept the old one, and he identified the problem with the solder joints being cracked near the wiring harness. yet chevy will not recognize this as the problem that the recall was issued for. how many more vehicles were missed? how do i get reimbursed for this since chevy charged me to fix their faulty manufacturing problem on the vehicle i bought from them?

	Although i experience the problem associated with campaign id 98v150000, chevrolet says that my vehicle is not part of the recall. the chevrolet customer service section could not tell me why it is not included, nor would they refer me to any other individual to try to find out why.

	The windshield wipers have a malfunction. sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. i can be driving down the street, with the wipers on, and they will just quit. sometimes, when it starts raining they won't even come on. it's frustrating and dangerous. chevy has a recall out for this problem, they state that it effects 1995 s-10s, but according to my vin, my vehicle is not part of the recall. obviously, that is incorrect, my wipers are doing exactly what the recall states. i fail to understand why my truck is not considered under this recall. this is not the first problem i have had with this vehicle. this truck is a lemon. i have numerous other problems for which chevy was unwilling to even consider as a possible manufacture defect. one of those conditions was a problem with the egr valve. i tried to tell them there was a problem. i had the egr replaced at about 40 or 50k. now chevy wants to send a recall notice out. of course they only reimburse if the repairs were made by a chevy dealer, mine weren't. i also had a defective transmission replaced at 45k. chevy wasn't willing to listen to me about that either. i guess the commercial that george straight makes for chevy is false advertising. i wonder how george would feel if he knew he was supporting such a sorry operationproduct. i realize these problems are unrelated to my original complaint. i have a shoe box full of receipts. i will weed through them and send another questionaire regarding these issues. thanks so much for your time.

	The windshield wipers on my truck stopped in mid-wipe during a recent rain storm twice while i was traveling on interstate 24, during a heavy rainstorm. i called the dealer and was told that the vehicle was under recall. when i took the vehicle in this morning i was told it was not under recall and that it would cost $81.25 to replace the wiper module. i paid for the repair but feel that if they are recalling s-10's for this reason that mine should have been repaired also. it appears that the recall does not take care of the total problem, but only a portion of the vehicles with problems. please assist me and other s-10 owners that this effects.

	My wife recently received a recall notice 98043-s on her 1996 chevy s10 blazer to repair the windshield wiper motor circuit board and cover. the recall letter listed certain 1995-96 s10 pickups also. i notified chevrolet customer service, that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem as mentioned in the recall notice my wife received. chevrolet customer service stated that my vehicle is not covered under the recall, and chevy will not financially pay for the repairs. i spoke with a service advisor at a local chevrolet dealer in elk grove. she stated that several chevrolet trucks (s10 and full size), owners have brought their vehicles to their service department for the same problem, and these vehicles were not covered under the recall. these vehicles mentioned are the same year and model, but are not covered under the recall ,checked by vin. i am concerned that the recall notice that was released is not covering all the vehicles that have this problem also. chevrolet customer service file # 990084790. thank you for your assistance with this matter. *ak

	When starting the windshield washer, the wipers moved to the middle of the windshield and stopped. the washer sprayed and would not stop. i rolled the side window down inorder to see and managed to get to the side of the road. after several attempts the wipers and washer finally shut off. upon returning to town, i went to the dealer and was told that their was a recall for this problem and was given an appointment for the next morning. when i returned to pick up my truck, i was told that i would have to pay for the repair as the computer indicated that my vin number was not covered by the recall even though the part that was replaced is the same part in the recall. i was told that my truck was made in a different plant than the vehicles being recalled. i called you complained and then wrote a letter to general motors. as of this date,11-5-98, i have not heard from gm. i have the old part in my possion and feel i should be refunded my money for this repair under the recall.

	I cannot understand why gm does not want to assume responsibility for this obviously defective and possibly fatal defect of the windshield wiper motor solder joint near the wiring harness connector that has cracked causing my wipers to work intermittently. this very serious problem has caused me to have reduced visibility on the highway at a rate of speed of 65 mph. i was in a horrible rain storm that came on all of the sudden and my wipers quit in mid stream!!!! i almost crashed into a semi-truck in order to avoid colliding with the cement barrier. not only was i in the truck but so was my 3 yr old child! i want this problem with all of the defective wiper motors fixed immediately! there are hundreds of lives at stake here. i want to know if gm would rather assume responsibility for the deaths of people that may be affected by their obvious defect, because our vin #'s aren't part of the campaign 98v150001. i think that it is horrifying to know that such a mutibillion dollar company doesnt care that because our trucks were manufactured a month prior to the recall specifications on maufactur date, that we shouldn't qualify? i want to know that i matter. i along with so may others have done our part and could have no way shape or form prevented this malfunction from occurring. i honored my commitment to gm by paying the purchase price. gm do your part and honor your guarentee of excellence, by keeping us safe from harm or death! gm needs to step up to the plate before i and hundreds of others step up to court. it would be much more cost efficient for gm to assume responsibility now!!! i truely don't see a need to reinvestigate the matter. i believe it is crystal clear to all that will read my and all the other complaints, not including the others that were turned away by gm customer service because the warranty was up! that shouldn't matter there wasn't any preventable thing we as s10 owners could have done! *ak

	Windhield wipers failed on 1/20/99. had repaired at south county chevrolet, cost $80.84. subsequent to this, i recieved in the mail a recall notice for the wipers, plus numerous reminders from chevy customer assistance. submitted receipt for reimbusement, and then the backpedalling started: wanted copies of the repair notice (provided). wanted copy of credit card statement showing payment (provided but unlawful request). then wanted copy of recall notice (provided). then, 15 to 18 phone calls requesting more or the same information, mostly documents that chevrolet cca had sent to me. then alicia harris told my wife we weren't covered under the recall. offered 60% settlement, which i refused. called and chevy cca agreed to pay entire amount of $77.46. then sent check in amount of $46.48. called again, got same runaround. bbb has been contacted, vp of chevrolet motor division has been contacted, now nhtsa. the wipers failed in the exact mode as the recalled units, if indeed this vehicle is not covered in this specific recall, a new recall should be initiated. this is a serious safety problem, and chevy cca is part of the problem, not the solution. they are the most bureaucratic and inept organization i have ever dealt with either in person or on the phone. *ak
