The reason there is so many accidents & deaths with cell phone use is the phone & auto makers dont really care.all that needs to be done is have the cell phone receive a signal from the vehicle speed sensor to interrupt or stop the incoming/outgoing cell phone signal as soon as the wheels on the car move.when the car is parked again the cell phone signal re-activates.come on people with the electronic wisards we have today this would be a slam dunk.the phone &car makers may have to spend another dollar or 2,on safety but i think it is worth it .the texting and talking violations would decrease also.i will be surprized if this is even read or forwarded the the people that really care.all they care about today is $$$ .please prove me wrong

 1. while driving the truck at aproximately 65 mph with the cruise control and air conditioner on, but no radio the truck just died while i was in the outer lane of the highway. no noise, it just lost power and died. i manged to get the truck into the other lane and off the highway as it slowed down luckely with out injury to myself, my passanger or anyone else on the highway. 2. on a truck with no more then 48,362 miles i experienced transmission failure. according to the mechanic the transmission pump exploded with no apparent cause. all parts on the truck appear to be in new condition even though the vehical is 5 years old. several of the original stickers from the factory are still visable with no sign of ware. i have all maintaince records on the truck available to show it has been properly maintained. the transmission flued and filter where not scheduled for maintaince until 50,000 miles. 3. the transmission had to be replaced on the truck and i have saved the old parts for examination. the mechanic noted that the original part was reordered but had been changed by the manufacture to a new part # due to problems with the old. transmission parts where replaced with new general motors parts. *ak

This is the 2nd s-10 series chevrolet truck i have owned in the past 4 years and the same problems associated with this make and model are still present with my newer one. the most particular one is the leaking engine oil lines, which is a wide spread issue with the gm s-10 family (3 week back log just to get the parts). i'm also a member of a mailing list associated with the s-10 series trucks by gm and it contains well over 200 members most of which have experienced identical problems with this particular make/ model. i'm not in any way, shape or form dissatisfied with the dealer here in virginia that has performed any of my repairs and i'm also not dissatisfied with the dealer i purchased the truck from when new. per the on-line nhtsa home page it states that it is not necessary to receive numerous complaints on a vehicle to have the nhtsa investigate. however, if action is not taken to resolve this obvious flaw in the design of gm's s-series line up i fear other hard working citizens who purchase this vehicle will also have to be subjected to the well known (but not documented?) problems associated with it. if necessary i can provide documentation for all the repairs i have been unlucky enough to encounter. i can also encourage others on the mailing list to file similar complaints here until the necessary people needing to be involve force the manufacture to issue a recall to fix this ongoing design flaw. this design flaw has cost many of us out pocket expenses and time on what should not be consider a normal part of regular maintenance on a vehicle. i appreciate your time and cooperation on this and hope we can work together to expedite a solid solution that would re-establish the consumer's faith in the gm product. please feel free to contact me for any further details in regards to my complaint. best regards, jerry kocher email: jerrykocher@home.com
