Dt: 2001 chevrolet s10. the consumer stated the throttle posted open while driving and the vehicle accelerated. this happened twice within a five minute period. the first time he thought the cruise control was stuck and pressed the accelerator. then turned the vehicle off. the second time he did the same thing. the consumer stated there was a loose restrictive plate in the carburetor, he took the plate off. since the plate was removed, and the problem has not occurred again. he had not taken the vehicle to the dealership, because he did not agree with dealer's pricing. he called gm to see if they would pay for the repairs.*ak

I have an 2001 s-10 extended cab 4x4 truck. i have had to have this truck towed 4 times & 4 or 5 fuel pumps put in also a wire that goes to fuel pump & a new gas cap also. i bought this truck in june of 06 & drove it 3 days before the first break down. it was down for 2 months. the place of purchase led me to believe that the truck was in perfect condition with no problems or any wrecks. when the truck was towed to a chevy dealership for repair it cost over 500$ just in labor alone not to mention the cost of the fuel pumps & full diagnostics. i am still having problems with the gas tank. when i fill the truck up it runs out the top of the tank itself under the bed of my truck . isn't this a danger to my safety ? the chevy dealership doesn't want to stand by their work now so i'm stuck with a deadly vehicle. i plan to file any complaint i can & if possible i will get it on the news as well. within a few hours of my buying this junk the auto dealer where i bought it sold my contract to a finance company so now the dealer is not responsible for the things that were & are bad. the truck bed only had 1 bolt holding the whole bed on & the gas tank only had 1 strap on 1 side holding the gas tank up... the finance company won't help with this problem either. i have been researching this type of truck & have found that way to many people have the same problems as i do when it comes to the gas tank & fuel pump. shouldn't someone be held liable for this problem ? would the makers of the s-10 truck allow their kids or family to ride in a truck that could possibly one day cause their death ? when a gas tank leaks fuel from the tank under the truck what would happen if at a stop light someone throws a cigarette out & it hits the gas that's leaked out ? my opinion the truck would blow up. if there is anyone who can tell me where to complain i'd be ever so grateful for that info. cathy in ky. *nm

My 2001 s-10 pick up stalls when driving down the road. acts similar to investigation pe02-066. took vehicle to dealer and explained problem. they could not find anything wrong. i still have the problem. truck was out of warranty when taken in had 44,106 miles. shouldn't the dealer been aware of your investigation and possibly looked at this filter?. i think you should reopen this case, i think that there is a severe defect in their design. tomorrow i am going to dealer armed with information from your website and i am going to put up a stink about this. please take another look at this case. thank you. sincerely, robert a. wright. *la

Gas gauge in my truck has been erratic since day 1. i have brought it back to the dealership numerous amounts of time. i thought it was lack of knowledgement from the dealership so i brought it to another gm service garage and they told me becasure of the design of the gas tank they would not be able to fix the problem. i have run out of gas twice and almost had a serious accident once. the needle reads fine u7ntil it reaches 1/4 of a tank and then it drops to empty and then you are on your own. when driving down the highway and the needle reaches 1/4 of a tank the needle doesn't move until you come to a stop and then it drops to empty and the gas gauge doesn't come on to let you know that you are low on gas. i have had it with this truck and the dealership. please help !!! i let the 1st dealership take my truck and drivie it because they said that they couldn't duplicate the same problem they put 400 miles on my truck and said that the gas gauge didn't do what i was saying. i drove it out of their yard and went 15 miles and the truck did what i was saying it was doing. i think that i have been more than patient with this garage.

Fuel gauge does not accurately reflect fuel in the system(reads empty at any given time with or without fuel). dealer advises that i am at fault because i failed to keep the fuel tank more than half full. dealer will not fix fault. my wife now refuses to drive the truck because she never knows if it out of gas or not. *ak

Inaccurate fuel gauge reading at 1/4 tank or less. since june 2001 (3,000 mi.)have complained to chevrolet about this problem. items replaced include sender/pump assembly. gauges, fuel level sensor, j3630 module. in may 2002 service manager informed me this was a self inflicted problem, that i kept throwing it in neutral, and they were done with it. embarrassed, i did not follow up on any more complaints. as of this date, still have problem, vehicle has over 50,000 mi. noticed that others have had this problem, too. *jb

Gas gauge does not work (reads empty at all times now). the vehicle was taken to the dealership where it was purchased to have the problem fixed while under warranty (under 35k mi). there's a reoccurence of the problem. in one ocassion a close call collission in a highway was barely avoided due to the innacurate gas gauge reading. *ak

Fuel gauge is not calibrated properly and apparently cant be. the extended cab s-10 ls models have 19-gallon gas tanks standard. the gauge reads full when full but seems to gauge my fuel consumption faster than i am really using it. it was most concerning the first time the light came on. i thought at first i was getting about 13 miles per gallon when half of my driving is highway. when the gauge gets down to the 1/8 tank line the fuel light comes on. when i go to the station the tank will generally take only about 13 gallons meaning there is 6 remaining in the tank. it has been consistent since i bought it and over the almost 40,000 miles ive driven it. i still dont trust it completely and use my trip meter to gauge its accuracy. generally i just make it a practice to refuel when the light comes on. i know i have about 3/8 of a tank remaining when that occurs. *cb
