Tl- the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado. the contact attempted to place the clutch pedal into first gear when it remained on the floor and did not release. he noticed that the pedal detached from the vehicle, causing the slave cylinder to fracture. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where they inspected the vehicle and repaired the clutch pedal, clutch cylinder, and slave cylinder. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the current mileages were 89,000. the approximate failure mileage was 86,630. bw

Hub bearings startred to make a loud noise and transmission front seal started to leak. i have a 2006 chevy silverado z71 with only 41260 miles on it. this should not be happening with so low miles. tried to get it fixed but the extended warranty i have will not touch it because it is lifted. the probleum existed befor any lift. th certified person who lifted my truck told me about the transmission leak. i thought the noise might have been the brakes but he told me that the hub bearingd sound like they are dry. i brought straight to trapp chevrolet the when i got back from work. i guarantee if it was bought with a lift they would of fixed it. i wasnt told that if i lifted it it would void a powertrain on my warranty. this probleum was there berore. that is a loop hole for them. this is wrong.

Our 2006 chevy silverado was making a slight humming noise. my husband thought he would need to change his brake pad. the hum was more on turns and went braking. then on june the 13, 2006 , while driving, the whole hub/bearing everything broke off the right front tire. we had it towed to the local dealership. after inspecting the truck. they stated the we improperly fail to maintain are vehicle. he stated that he had never seen the whole drum /hub/bearing brake off , except in trucks that were made to go off road alot. we have never towed, went off road or hauled anything with this truck. the miles are highway miles. i asked how do maintain a piece of steel. he stated,we should of had the bearing check. they had to replace the drum , rotor, hub, bearings hoses, everything. the total cost $1,412.00. *tr

The manual transmission on my 2006 chevrolet silverado 1500 has a problem. when the clutch is pressed you can not shift, or it is very difficult to shift gears. and the dealers service department says chevrolet designed all standard transmission vehicles to work this way. they say there is not anything to fix. i believe that since the transmission is hard to shift the transmission could wear out too fast, or and this is my big fear, the transmission could fail while the truck is being driven and a accident could happen, or the truck could break down in an unsafe place or time. i have had the truck in the service department at the dealer many, many times. the service advisor agrees that the truck doesn't shift like any standard transmission he has driven either. yet, the official word is that this is normal, and there is nothing to fix. he says all the manual transmission silverado trucks shift this way. how dangerous!!! if someone is driving and needs to shift, yet the engine will not shift, there could be a wreck, the trucks transmission could fail, and leave a person stranded in a very dangerous part of town. i have the extended warranty, however, what comfort is that, if the trick has been designed for failure. this problem shortens the life of the truck. *nm

My 1500hd super crew cab has had a harmonic rumble since the second week of ownership. it varies some with speed and load but can be felt through the floor into your feet and be heard easily at all times. it gets progressively louder until it is serviced. the dealer has worked on the problem 4 times in 5 months and it still has the problem. it will go back for a 5th visit this week. *nm

2006 chevrolet siverado 4l60e transmission failure at 80,000mi the transmission failed and required a full rebuild even though it was never used to haul anything ! it costed us $2050 for the rebuild ! much too soon for a transmission on a truck that only is used to transport a mountain bike,

While making a left turn from a 60 mph highway in my 2006 chevrolet c1500 truck my right rear axle came completely out with tire still attached. thank god i had slowed to about 20 mph to make the left turn when it happened or a crash could have resulted. i am reporting this because as i said i was on a highway going 60 mph and if the axle had come out at that speed it could have been bad. the failure seems to be that the end of the axle broke off where the keeper goes. i am going to have to have the axle replaced and i will have the old part. this happened on thanksgiving and i was very thankful that my son and i were safe. like i said it could have been much worse.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact was experiencing a failure with the air conditioning and heating system in her vehicle. neither were working properly and no air would go through the vents. the contact also smelled something burning in her vehicle and immediately took it to the dealer. she was informed that the resister needed to be replaced. while the new resister was being installed, the mechanic also discovered that a connector needed to be replaced because it had melted. both the resister and the connector from the electrical air conditioning unit in her vehicle were replaced. the contact believes that a two year old vehicle should not experience those defects. the current and failure mileages were 50,612. updated 10/07/08. *lj the transmission line had a slight leak. updated 10/08/08. *jb

The tranny in my 06 silverado quit shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. my truck had 45,700 miles, just out of the warranty by 9,700. there was no warning signs leading up to the failure. not even a message from the dash computer or a transmission light. dealership said tranny wasn't putting enough pressure in the shift plates and it smoked a couple of them. dealership also said they don't know what causes the problems it just happens. luckily for me dealership called a rep and i only had to pay a $500 dollar deductible because my pickup was so well cared for and there was no reason for this to happen. so if this happens to you make sure you check into them or yourself calling a rep. $500 is cheaper than a rebuild or new tranny. *tr

My truck seems to want to go in reverse when starting, in morning after setting over night. it occurs often. the gm dealership where i have taken the pickup truck to (several times) told me it is normal even gave me a copy of a document, document# 1884620. doc. states no repair should be attempted. *tr

2006 chevrolet silverado hybrid, upon coming to a stop light in the mountains of north carolina the hybrid vehicle shuts the motor off until until you remove your foot from the brake pedal. when you remove your foot from the brake pedal before you can place your foot on the accelerator the truck rolls backwards at a high rate of speed depending on the incline. chevrolet customer service has said there is no fix for this flaw as of yet and expects us to continue driving the truck as is. i feel this is very unsafe and this vehicle design should never have been sold in the mountains. thank you. *tr

Third front wheel hub bearing in 60,000 miles. dealer says this is normal wear and tear. most mechanics tell me this is very excessive and most hardly ever replace a wheel bearing. i feel this can be a safety issue as a bearing could fail and a wheel come off at a high rate of speed causing death or serious injury. *tr

Tl*the contact leases a 2006 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at various speeds, the abs indicator illuminated and then dimmed. approximately three days later, while driving at highway speeds the contact heard scraping noises coming from the front driver's side tire and the vehicle shimmied. the vehicle was driven to a gas station and was losing braking power. the gas station attendant determined that the wheel bearing failed. no other warning indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. the current mileage was 36,400 and failure mileage was 36,100. updated 10/27/2008. *lj the dealer found the a faulty left front hub-caliper bracket damaged due to excessive heat. the cv boot was torn due to excessive heat as well. updated 10/27/08. *jb
