On my silverado with just under 39,000 the left wheel bearing had to be replaced on 8/9/11. on 10/6/11 the right side had to be replaced. i contacted chevy and they will not look into any complaints on the failure of these wheel bearings with such little mileage. both times my truck had to be towed. i do travel the interstate routes and an concerned about my safety and others on the road but chevy told me i'm entitled to my opinion.

My 2007 crew cab chevrolet silverado 1500 was purchased on 11/27/06 and it has approximately 65,000 miles on the odometer as of 12/22/10. the steering is making a clunking noise and jerks when turned to the left while moving in forward or reverse. this same incident occurred at around 20,000 miles in the 2004 chevrolet silverado that i purchased from the same dealer prior to the purchase of this 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. at the first sign of steering failure with both vehicles, i took the vehicle directly to the dealer. the steering malfunction in the 2004 chevrolet was fixed free of charge. when i purchased this vehicle (2007 chevrolet silverado 1500) i was informed by the same dealer that i wanted exactly the same warranty and was told that it had been supplied. i took my vehicle to the dealer as i had done previously. on 12/22/10, i was informed that i would have to bring my truck back at 0830 on the morning of 12/23/10 and that i would be required to pay a co-pay of $100. i am certainly no mechanic, but if the steering is failing, would it not be a safety hazard to put the driver back on the road in this vehicle? according to the complaints that i have read on your site, this is a recurring problem. for me, this is second chevrolet silverado in which this same problem has occurred. i do not remember exactly which parts the dealer replaced in my first vehicle, but the beginning symptoms of this steering malfunction are the same as those that occurred with my 2004 silverado. what frustrates me about this situation is that the failure seems to occur quite frequently in the chevrolet silverado. should they not be held to some standard of at least replacing poorly designed steering parts at no charge?

My son was driving on the highway in texas when the engine shut down and the car stopped running. he lost all power steering and could barely get off the road in time. the car had to be towed to the nearest town in gainsville. the diagnosis was the sending unit failed and in turn caused damage to the fuel pump that made it inoperable. my concern is that there was no warning light or any kind of indication that this problem was about to occur. there was no way to prevent this. the fuel level read that there should have been 1/4 to 1/2 tank of gas but the mechanic measured 1/8 - 1/4. i'm not sure if the gas level attributed to the shut down or not. that is something that i'm sure will be factored in to your investigation. i feel like this was a definite opportunity for me to speak up and take action. my son was spared from injury or death and there needs to be a solution to this problem to avoid these irreversible consequences. whether it be an indicator light or better yet redesign of the systems so that they cannot shut down the car automatically. remember he was driving 60 miles and hour on an extremely busy highway, the outcome could have easily been very grim, especially had it occurred at night. i may have been planning a funeral instead notifying people how to avoid one. please take this as seriously as i have and take action to eliminate the potential damaging effects of this type of failure. i have documentation of shop records etc. and will be happy to provide any additional information you may need to proceed. thank you for your time. *tr

There has not yet been a failure. three of the four steering ball joints are loose and could fail after only 16,000 miles on my 2007 chevy 1500 truck. the chevy dealer where purchased will not make warranted repairs. what to do next? *tr

I bought my 2007 silverado on july 27,2006 i began having electrical problems no more than two weeks later it went in the shop august 08,2006 for windshield wipers malfunctioning the dealer replaced the wiper module a couple months later october 10,2006 wipers were doing the same they again replaced the module and motors ok that's fixed, then my brakes were locking up and would drag when i would stop even at speeds of 5-10 mph and also stay locked after taking off from a stop and also was pulling left then right when brakes were applied they had to change the brake pads and resurface the rotors. march 26, 2007( i had my radio burn up a cd and lights in radio burn out they had to replace the stereo and the back lights on my stereo control buttons and other buttons on steering wheel burnt out they changed those. then my accessory outlet keeps burning out any time i plug anything in it blows a fuse, my speedometer cluster lights burnt out they had to replace that) june 28, 2007 back in the shop for a knocking noise in steering shaft they had to replace the steering shaft. may 05, 2008 steering wheel lights burnt out again they replaced the buttons again. then august 31,2008 my family and i were leaving town due to a mandatory evacuation and i was pulling my trailer when i took the ramp to get off the interstate i had no trouble stopping at the stop sign but when i went to cross into the median at no more than 5-10 mph i had no brakes and was pushed into oncoming traffic which resulted in a crash i bought new tires in july 2008 and you can tell that they are being torn up by the brakes i just got my truck back from the shop and noticed the rear brakes are locking up again and dragging through turns even with no brakes applied at 5-10 mph does this seem like an electrical problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 55 mph, the digital screen module displayed a malfunction message and the steering and brakes locked for approximately 5 seconds. the contact lost control of the vehicle. the engine was still running and the contact pulled to the side of the road. he called the dealer and was advised not to turn off the vehicle, but instead drive directly to the dealer. the weather was not a factor. after numerous visits to the dealer, they stated that the hybrid battery and engine failed. the hybrid control module was replaced and the dealer repaired the hybrid open fuse module. the current mileage was 23,500 and failure mileage was 345.

I bought a 2007 cherolet silverado crew cab used (19,000 mi.) from maroone cheverolet. i noticed that the steering was shakey and there was a vibration. the salesman said that the truck had a full new car warranty and they would fix it. note: they claimed to do a 117 point check to be gm certified! this truck shakes, wobbles and rattles from driving from normal to a little bump in the road. transmission was klunking between gears, it is better, but not normal. the gas millage does not come close to the advertise sticker on window of 16 - 21 mpg. i am only getting 12 mpg in town and 17 mpg on the highway. about 75% of what was expected. the dealer claims this is an all normal with this truck! *jb

2007 chevy silverado, purchased in late 2006. took vehicle to dealer where purchased could find nothing wrong. brakes squeaking very loudly, truck is bouncing erratically and sense a steering issue. 1st dealer also told me the tires just needed to be rotated. the truck is now at another dealer and i have yet to hear the verdict. the truck makes whining noises like in old trucks when the power steering would go bad. this truck currently has 21,000 miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. soon after the vehicle was purchased on august 8, 2006, the steering wheel and the vehicle itself began to bounce and shake. when turning the wheel in either direction, the steering wheel feels as if it will detach. the more the vehicle is driven, the worse the failure becomes. on september 16, 2006, the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer was unable to find any failure but stated that it was the characteristic of the vehicle. on june 6, 2006, while making a left turn, the steering wheel operated on its own and caused the vehicle to crash into a pole. the speed at the time of the crash was 5 mph. the contact noticed that the tie rod in the front had detached. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the contact searched the internet for further research and discovered that the failure is a safety issue that needs some attention. a police report was filed. the engine size and powertrain were unknown. the current and failure mileages were 8,143.
