I had just entered onto the interstate and had gone about 5 miles when my front right tire blew sending me to the side of the road. i have always rotated these tires every 6000 miles and kept 32-34 pounds of air pressure in them. when the tire blew the whole tread from around the tire separated leaving only the two sidewalls attached to a severely damaged mag-alloy wheel. i was the only one in the vehicle and suffered no apparent injuries. however it is a little unerving to have this happen at 65 miles per hour. i went to the firestone dealer and was told that this paticular tire was under no recall and there are no complaints. i am sure i will have no luck getting reimbursed for the tire/tires and rim but feel it necessary to at least make a complaint regarding this tire. like i said proper maintenance had been performed on these tires and the dealer commented the remaining three looked similar in wear with no abnormalities. all three remaining tires had exactly the same amount of wear. i appreciate the opportunity to report this incident and will appreciate any help i can get.*ak

This is the second tire of the original tires that the rubber has seperated from the cord on this vechicle. these were not any of the tires listed on recall but have been a problem for me to deal with. the first was replaced before the recall was made on any of the tires and that is documented for replacement. the second tire that separated rubber was on 02-03-02. is it possible there are problems with this particular tire also. i wanted to report it so that there is some type of documentation if there is a failure in the manufacturing of this type and model of tire. i have lost credibility for safety in firestone tires at this point and intend to remove them all from my vehicle asap. thank you for any information or assistance that you may offer. Driving on a grated dirt road, the right front tire blew and almost took us of the road. we were going camping and was fortunate it did not happen when we were going passed the step ledges. when the tire blew it forced us off the road and into some brush. no vehicle or passenger injury (luckily). i just want to report this issue so that maybe firestone will do a recall on some of the other tires that are obviously defective. please take this near miss into consideration, because if this tire blew about 8 miles earlier we could have went off the embankment. Noticed belt protruding out of left front tire. took vehicle to firestone dealer. they told me my tires were not under any kind of warranty because, they came as original equipment on my vehicle. i then showed the manager the warranty that came with the vehicle. he said nowhere did he see that they should replace the tires. all the information pertaining to replacing the tires was there on the first page. they then tried to tell me that the tire damage was due to normal wear and i had an alignment problem. i told him i want firestone to honor the warranty and replace it on a prorated basis. the manager then told me that he knew nothing about tires because he was not a tire manager. he then told me several other locations where the facilities had tire managers. he then let me drive off with a damaged tire. not even offering to put on the spare tire.*ak (tiresize: 265/75/16)

Tire failed when the truck was parked. the brakes do not always apply full braking when the peddle is pushed to the floor. this is not the abs activating. the braking distance may be 3 to 4 times what it should be. the dealer tested the the brake system and test drove it and said that everything is normal. the peddle travel does not seem to have enough to allow for variations in the system. i believe this is a design defect. *ak (tiresize: p265/75r16)( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 )

The tire split from bead to tread when i ran over a pvc pipe at less than 1/2mph. the pipe was not broken so there were no sharp edges and the impact did not break the pipe. when i contacted the local dealer he refused to replace the tire saying it was a road hazard. i asked for a number to call and was refered to an office in nashvilletn. i called and talked to a person who identified himself as rock. i told him what happened and he refused to authorize the replacement of the tire saying it was a road hazard. i told him that these were off road tires that should not have so easily ruptured. he told me that they had to make the sidewalls thin because people like me wanted their truck to ride smooth and the vehicle manufacturers made them build them that way. i told him that i did not believe that. he told me that he did not care what i thought as i was not one of their customers but was just using their product. i then hung up but called a customer relations number listed on the internet. i told the lady that took my call what rock had said and she called the local dealer and authorized the replacement of the tire. i am still concerned about this model tire.*ak (tiresize: 245/16 lt)( dot number: tire size: 245/16 lt )

On march 21, 2000 while driving on interstate 84 near the dalles, oregon i heard a loud pop sound followed by the rumbling of a flat tire. i immediately pulled over and discovered a flat tire. i then changed the completely flat tire. the next day i attempted to have the flat tire repaired at a commercial tire dealership in pasco, washington. thdy told me that the tire had not been punctured but instead that the wall had seperated from the tread and that the tire was un repairable. i left the tire with them and received a bill for $44.00 ffor the mounting of a used spare. more recently this summer i have notice a small piece of tread has detached from another one of my tires.( dot number: w275 wnb tire size: p265/75r16 )

While driving from home (mesa az) to milwaukee wi, i noticed a once per revolution thump and upon inspection i found a three inch crack at the outer circumference of the right front tire at the steel belt line. the crack was beginning to progress outward radially into the actual tread at the trailing edge of the crack. a local firestone dealer (dodge city tire center (316) 225-9090, exchanged the tire with a new for cost of balancing only. the claim number was 7797436 which the dealer promised me that they would send the tire to firestone with that number attached so it could be traced. i believe that i saved firestone a damage repair which should allow them to replace the rest of the tires in question on my vehicle. local dealership in flint michigan refused to do anything.( dot number: w273wmb169 tire size: p265-75r16 )

Just reporting this as it seems premature for a tire to blow, especially sidewall with only 12,000 miles on. cannot say for sure cause of failure but it did go completely flat . it was fine when i left and properely inflated, went out within a mile, truck started to handle rough so i pulled into a parking lot and tire was resting on rim completely flat with sidewall slit open.. since it is a wilderenss tire and they have some defects i thought i should mention this. tire was repalced and disposed by pomps service who replaced it. no one could really say what caused it to go and i shrugged if off as bad luck and bought new one. maybe it was defective to start. if this helps you take a bad tire off road, great. don't need someone else hitting the ditch because of bad tire. if i had been running along on interstate at faster speed i would have been in ditch.. fortunately i was just starting out and close to home and slowed down and got off road when i felt vehicle handle sloppy. .( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 )

While driving my pickup on a 4 lane road the right front tire sidewall blew out. there was no apparent reason for the blowout. the tire had a hole in it the size of a grapefruit next to the tread. i took the tire to a chev dealer in phoenix arizona and they gave me a discount on another tire but would not replace it free. i also went to a firestone store owned by firestone. they told me there was nothing they could do except sell me a new set of tires. they did tell me that a passenger tire for a pickup was not the idea tire. however, they told me to appeal to women drivers and get a smooth ride they put passenger tires like mine on chevrolet trucks. great huh? i just missed having an accident. nobody after looking at the tire could tell me what caused it to explode.( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 )

Consumer stated he noticed there were bulges in the sidewalls of the two front tires, consumer states he dismissed it thinking it was normal, when vehicle was being serviced for tire rotation, mechanic advised consumer that bulges were not supposed to be there and to contact the dealer, consumer was advised by dealer that tires were covered under warranty, consumer then took vehicle in to have tires inspected and was advised that manufacturer would pay 50 percent towards the purchase of new tires, consumer was told that the reason that manufacturer would only pay 50 percent is because there were signs of tread wear and the vehicle history due to consumer moves around a lot, as well as curb damage. *jb
