Tl* - the contact owns a 2001 silverado pickup. the contact stated that every 2000 to 3000 miles while driving at 50 mph the engine would lose power momentarily, and then start back up. the contact would sometimes have to pull over on the road and restart the vehicle. the failure became more and more frequent. he took the vehicle to three or four different dealers, and they could not duplicate or diagnose the failure. the contact determined that the failure was due to the ignition and had it repaired, after being told he would be reimbursed the contact has not received the reimbursement. also the brake light and abs lights turn on intermittently when driving without applying the brakes. this failure had occurred ten times.*ak the transmission, fuel gauge sending unit, the right power window all had to be replaced. the engine light illuminated. updated 03/07/07. *jb

Drivers side window crapped out. window doesn't go down, cable broken at motor drive. the truck is a 2001 chevy silverado, it's only 3, well technically 4 years old. the part to replace it from the dealership is well over rated in price. you have to purchase the whole component. just the cable can not be purchased. it's my understanding that this is a regular occurrence with these window regulators. *jb

I have a 2001 cheverolet silverado 2500 hd ext. cab. the sideview mirrors have a defective part in the breakaway mechanism that causes them to 'breakaway' completely. this just happened to my passenger side mirror and six months ago happened to the driver side. whatever piece they used inside the mirror is defective. i've never heard this happeining to any vehicle other that chevy trucks and suv's from 2000 to 2003. *ak

While driving at any speed the vehicle drifted to the left and right. the owner made contact with the dealer multiple times, however the problem still existed. *nlm the vehicle pulled to the right and left while in motion. the right wiper did not clean the windshield. there was a rattle noise which had come from the dash area on the left side while the vehicle was in motion. the dealer found four missing bolts under the steering. due to the vehicle going to the left, the front calipers were removed, to check movement, the rear drums for dragging, binding, adjust and reassemble. *scc *jb

My 2001 chevrolet pickup truck has 3500 miles on it, and in the two snow storms this winter(it has only been in two snow driving situations) both times the passenger side windshield wiper linkage became disconnected below the wiper rotating output shaft. after the first snow storm i brought it to the dealer who simply reconnected everything and commented: we have had about 45 similar cases just this morning. he commented that the wipers are not designed to be used in such heavy snow. the snow built up under the wiper arm, putting stress on the internal linkage below the sheet metal, and caused the linkage to pop apart. he suggested that i not drive in such heavy snowfall, or that i keep the linkage clear of snow buildup. i pointed out the obvious safety concern for pulling over every ten minutes to clear away snow from under the wiper and all he could respond to that was: ford has the same problem as chevrolet on these wiper linkages coming apart. the second storm was last night. i carefully removed all snow from the hood, from around the wipers, from on top of the roof (so snow could not slide off it onto the wipers) and after 15 minutes of driving, the passenger wiper failed with a loud mechanical noise. i stopped and measured the snow thickness on the hood at less than one inch. i happen to have a digital camera with me and took several pictures of the depth of the snow in the dark with a flash attachment. i consider this to be a safety defect and one which the nhtsa should investigate on behalf of all chevrolet pickup owners. as a mechanical engineer i find this kind of failure to be inexcusable and have never experienced it in any of the forty plus vehicles i have owned in the past. i am 52 years old. yes, i will return to the dealer, and am unhappy that probably they simply will hook the linkage back up and it probably will fail again during the next snowstorm. note: you need to update your website to allow us to put in the year 2003. ts
