| While driving, brake pedal will go all the way to the floor when braking suddenly. also while driving on highway, consumer slammed on brakes to avoid a collision and the rear brakes locked up and vehicle slid.*ak also the engine vibrates when the air condition is on, the dealer repositioned clamp, when it is rainy hard the drivers door leaks at the top weatherstrip, the exhaust vibrates when vehicle is in reverse, the passenger seat rattles.*jb | |||

| Dt*: the contact stated the abs engages at low speeds of 20 mph and below. as a result, the stopping distance was increased. there is a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the abs. the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall because of the vin. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the dealer cleaned the wheel speed sensor, replaced the pads and rotors. however, those replacements did not correct the problem. additionally, a knocking noise was heard in the engine. the dealer inspected the engine although, no repairs were made. the passenger sie window was inoperative. updated 03/28/06. *jb | |||

| 2002 chevy silverado brakes failed at low speeds. *ts when the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer to be inspected, he was informed there was a problem with the abs. the sensor was cleaned and a part was replaced. the consumer then received a recall notice in october 2005 regarding the abs. the recall letter stated the consumer could apply for reimbursement. the tailgate rusted and broke. the steering relay and right front idler arm were replaced. the window regulator was replaced. the wheel center cap fell off. *jb | |||

| Both power window assemblies failed within months of each other and both units failed in the same manner. there is a plastic to metal connections that failed on both units. the passengers side failed in late september 2005 and the drivers side december 9, 2005. both units had to be replaced, old parts not available. *jb | |||

| Many of the problems took several times in the shop to fix. the castrophic failures in the engine & transmission have never been fixed. the truck has lunging, dead spots & surges & the transmission clunks (shifts hard, jerky) the auto may or may not accelerate on demand & will later accelerate when you need to apply the brakes. | |||

| While driving and upon looking into the passenger side mirror one could not see what was coming up on the side shifter. consumer contacted the dealer. however, consumer was told there was nothing they could do. also, transmission will intermittently fail. consumer stated that when driving through water or mud shift lever will freeze up. *ak poor design, mud, snow, ice trapped on to shifter cable and safety switch, then they freeze into position and also causes safety switch to malfunction and go bad. *bf | |||

| I have had three mirrors installed on the truck under warranty and having the same problem with all three mirrors, when i drive on the interstate to work every day the mirror vibrates so bad i cant see anything out of the mirror and have had several close calls merging into traffic i have had the truck to 2 chevrolet dealers for this problem and they say there is no fix for this. i called gm customer care and have a file number on the case but they told me there was no fix also and offered me 2 free oil changes to resolve this problem i declined there offer but do not no what i should do at this point. mr | |||

| The interior rearview mirror has a distortion problem. only in the middle of the mirror is the view clear. but when the view is in the top part or bottom part of the mirror, the distortion takes place. the distortion is in the form of seeing double vision. the best way to notice this is at night when another vehicle is no closer than 100 feet behind you and you look at it through the interior rearview mirror. put that vehicle's headlights at the top and at the bottom part of the mirror and you will see four headlights instead of two headlights. even in the daytime, if you look closely at the vehicle behind you, you will see a double image of its roof via a faint line. i have replaced my mirror at the dealership, but the second one is even worse. i filed a complaint with gm quality customer service. i know of another 2002 chevy silverado owner who also has the same problem. this problem probably exists on most of them. if you have any questions, please call me. i am willing to demonstrate my vehicle to you so you can see how serious a problem it is. thank you!. *ak | |||
