Defect SummaryCertain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: national, carquest p/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between january 23, 2006, and december 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. the inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an abs light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation.
Consequence SummaryWheel separation can result in a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryFederal-mogul will notify customers and will replace the hub assembly free of charge. the recall began on february 7, 2008. owners can contact federal-mogul toll-free at 877-489-6659.

 Dt: consumer stated while driving on i-66, around mile marker 58, the tire blew out. this happened at 6:45 am. consumer felt the steering wheel shook, and he felt the rear of the vehicle would fall. this was the driver's side rear tire. the tires had been rotated approximately 2 weeks ago. the tire was previously on the front driver's side. consumer had a picture that he will send in. the entire sidewall blew out. this occurred on a 2004, chevrolet silverado. this was the original tire for the vehicle. consumer contacted chevrolet that he had been dissatisfied with general tires in the past, and tried to have the dealership change them at the time of purchase. *ak

 On three separate occasions while applying the brake pedal it went to the floor. the vehicle failed to stop. the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. however, the mechanic could not duplicate the problem at this time. *ak the abs/brake light stayed on, there was an intermittent rattle in the flywheel, the consumer stated that the clutch has no throw. *sc *jb

 While inspecting the vehicle the driver noticed that both frontal tires lug nuts were loose. the driver drove the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the lug nuts needed to be replaced. please provide further details. *nm
