Tl- the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. while in reverse at approximately 5 mph, the contact heard a rattling noise coming from under the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics where the mechanic advised that the transfer case would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the four wheel drive function was not used often and could have caused the transfer case to fail. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 59,000. kmj

2006 2500hd, transmission cooler line leaking and both oil cooler lines leaking. oil cooler lines were replaced in 2007 under warranty. brought truck into dealer today, (23 nov 2009) oil cooler lines replaced, transmission line ordered. deal said that it is a known problem but chevy will not recall. are they waiting for a fire and death to occur? this is a know problem and should be a recall to replace these lines at no cost. paid $437 today and will pay $262 on wed. when the transmission cooler line comes in. this is totally unacceptable. *tr

Loud squeal noise in the transmission of 2006 chevy silverado when it runs in low gear and when it is in drive and shifts from low to high gear. the truck was taken back to the dealer 2 times and we were told it was a normal noise for the 4l80e transmission. we took it to another gm dealer who said there was a problem. we called gm and they had us take the truck back to the dealer we bought it from. we were told it was a normal noise after the mechanic drove it. when it was used to pull a trailer loaded with hay, the noise was even greater. i am concerned that there will be an accident with this truck. *tr

2006 chevy silverado hd diesel with allison trans-- transmission cooler lines leaking, dealer said there has been no known problem. i searched online and found hundreds of similar complaints. so i was forced to pay $700 to have the lines replaced, which will probably end up leaking again. this is obviously a defect, as i have 3 other chevy trucks, none of which have ever leaked from the trans lines, and some are over 10yrs old

 Transmission coolant line leaking

My 2006 silverauto with the durmax engine and alison transmission. the transmission line have been leaking. i have 60,000 miles on it so the warrantee is out. when i took it into the chevrolet dealership where i purchased the vehicle they would not cover the leaks as part of the drive line warrantee. when i purchased the lines from the parts department they indicated that they were selling a lot of these hoses due to leaks. if there are this many lines leaking i think chevrolet should replace these faulty lines at there expense. also i know of one other 2007 model that burned out the transmission due to these lines. because the transmission failed chevrolet replaced the transmission and the lines.

My 2006 durmax diesel 2500 truck has transmission hoses that run from the transmission to the radiator. these hoses have aluminum pieces on each end and they seep oil at the joint where th aluminum joins a piece of rubber hose in the centre. they continuously leak transmission oil on the ground at this crimp join. the colder the weather, the worse these hoses leak. i feel because of th damage this oil causes to our fish stocks and the environment these hoses should be recalled and replaced a chevrolet's expense. to date so far, all atempts i've made to correct this problem, at kelowna chev. or head office have failed. they are now interested.please give advice.

My chevrolet 2500 has a function called grade braking to assist the brakes when towing a load down hill. it has quit functioning but the dealers cannot figure out how to troubleshoot the problem. they said since no codes show on the computer i have to wait until i have a trailer behind it and am near a dealer that is near a steep grade to test it. the whole point of the system it to keep the truck from running away on a steep grade. doesn't sound like the place to test it. there are no steep grades with in 150 miles of me. there should be a simulated test run by their computer. *tr

Leaking transmission cooler lines. lines consist of a flexible section swaged to section of hard line. there are 3 lines total. all 3 have a history of leakage where the flexible section swages to the hard section. this has been a very common occurrence reported by other owners which can be easily verified through numerous online forums.i.e www.dieselplace.com. *tr

2006 chevy silverado 2500 hd w/allison trans. transmission leak. took truck to deal, deal fix 1 out of 3 lines under warranty. 4000 miles after dealer fixed first line, 2 other started leaking, deal would not fix other 2 lines stating truck was no longer under warranty. gmc should recall the vehicle base on possible fire. *tr

The allison automatic transmission cooler lines are leaking. this poses a fire hazard. gm needs to redesign the hoses that connect the transmission and transmission cooler. many others are having this same problem and have had the lines replaced multiple times. *tr

I purchased new a 2006 chev. silverado 2500 tk (6 liter eng.), at 1900 miles the transmission felt like it slipped. immediately after, under light acceleration, you get a high pitched noise coming from the transmission. took vehicle to local dealership and was informed that the problem was in the planetary gears of the transmission and gm informed them that repairs should not be performed. meanwhile i still have the noise and am seriously concerned about the dependability of the vehicle. *nm

Starting 4 days after delivery of this new light duty truck with diesel engine and 6 speed heavy duty automatic transmission, the transmission has almost continually malfunctioned, causing what i believe are dangerous conditions putting myself, my passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians at risk. the malfunctions include acting like in neutral when starting from a full stop, causing the engine to rev, and then the transmission suddenly engages causing the vehicle to lurch, similar problems at the transmission searches for higher gears, even at highway speeds; the engagements are so hard i believe i am at risk should this occur on low traction roads, or on curves. most disturbing is that moments after coming to a full stop (foot off accelerator), the transmission suddenly (on no fewer than 10 occasions) sends a surge of power to the drive wheels causing the vehicle to lurch. i am fearful that this malfunction may cause the vehicle to be propelled into a vehicle in front of my, or worse, pinning a pedestrian between this vehicle and a fixed object. also shocking is that upon the vehicle being returned to me for the 3rd time on august 11th, within an 1/8 of a mile form the dealership, as i approached a stop the vehicle wheels suddenly locked up for a moment. i returned to the dealership and the service manager drove the vehicle. he repeatedly duplicated the problem and experimented by shifting into neutral, shockingly, while in neutral, the transmission still seemed to engage the drive wheels as we approached a stop. only 42 days since delivery, and the vehicle has been at the dealer for service for 13 days, and has also continued to malfunction while under my control another 12 days. i believe the dealer, auto manufacturer, and the transmission manufacturer (who is said to be providing direct instruction to the dealer on diagnostics and repair) are placing me and others at serious risk of injury. *nm

My transmission cooler lines were leaking and i'm concerned about it due to the transmission fluid being a combustible material. if this material dripped onto a hot exhaust and ignited while parked in the attached garage of our home, it could pose a major safety hazard...not to mention it could do to the neighbors home being relatively close. thank you for your time. *tr

Transmissions lines are continuing to leak. have been to the dealer twice this year. dealer has replaced cooler lines under warranty. truck only has 32000 miles on it. dealer needs to come up with a permanent fix, or it is going to cost the consumer a lot of money to keep having the transmission lines replaced. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 3500. while driving between 55-60 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle vibrated unexpectedly. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the torque caused separation of the central differential. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, the mainframe cracked in half, but was not repaired. the failure was possibly contributed to the weight of the snowplows or diesel. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were unavailable.

I own a 2006 chevrolet pickup truck and found that if you turn the key one clip forward you can pull the shift lever into any gear including neutral without stepping on the brake. i checked around and found that any chevrolet truck, van or pickup all the way back to 2003 will do the same thing. i heard but don't know for sure that a young boy was hurt when he turned the key and pulled the lever down crashing the truck. *nm
