 Tl* the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd equipped with bf goodrich commercial tires, size: ta 245/75/r16. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the tread on the rear driver's side tire separated and caused the tire to explode. the contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle without incident. the contact stated that the strut support rods and the driver side tail light became damaged from the tire failure. the contact shipped the tire to the manufacturer for inspection. the manufacturer stated that they inspected the tire and noticed that an object had struck the tire and caused the tread separation failure. the failure mileage of the tire was 23,000. the dot number was unavailable. the vehicle failure mileage was 122,900.

 Tl- the contact owns 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd equipped with a set of bf good rich commercial ta 245/75/r16. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the rear driver side tire's tread had separated and caused a blow out. the contact stated that there was not a crash or injuries. the contact stated that the strut support rods and the driver side tail light were damaged from the blow out. the contact shipped the tire to the manufacturer for inspection. the manufacturer was notified and they stated that they inspected the tire and noticed that something hit the tire and thats what cause the tread to separate. the failure mileage of the tire was 23,000 miles the dot number was unavailable.the vehicle failure mileage was 122,900. ap

 Tire belt failure, with tread separation . i purchased a matched set of four cooper discoverer atr m&s lt265/75r16 tires brand new. they have been regularly checked for air pressure and balanced an rotated. on june 28,2008, 26 months after purchase and with about 24000 miles on them the front left tire failed . i replaced tire with spare. on 10/10/08 with about 27000 miles on it the front right tire failed in the same manner. with 2 of 4 tires coming apart in tis manner, i removed the remaining tires as i feel there must be a defect. they are unsafe and i have replaced them with new firestone tires. *tr

 Consumer complaint concerning transmission failures on 2003 silverado. *ts the transmission fluid was burnt, the reverse gear was inoperable and the transmission shifter was loose. the power steering fluid was low. fluid was leaking from the gear box. the front seal on the power steering pump was worn and leaking, as well as the lower hose. the water pump gasket and lower radiator hose was leaking. the battery was replaced because it would not hold a charge. the a/c would only blow out air from the defrost vents. the a/c heater mode door actuator was worn. the check engine light illuminated. the fuel filter was replaced. the panel on the drivers seat was warped. the tires were replaced, however months later one of the tires developed a slow leak, due to a pin hole located in the sidewall. the rear pads and rotors were replaced. the front and rear shocks were replaced. the tail gate support cables were replaced. the rear tire blew out while driving. the second row seat belt was inoperative. *jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. the vehicle has firestone lt, size 245/75/r16 tires. five hours after the contact placed air in her tire, the tread separated from the tire and caused a blow out. she stated that the tire was intact, but the thread was also separated. the dealer sent her a letter stating that the tire exceeded deflection. she called to inquire about what exceeded deflection meant and the dealer explained that this referred to her vehicle's weight overload. the contact stated that the tire that was placed on the vehicle was a brand new spare tire. the tire has not been repaired or replaced. the failure caused damage to the vehicle. the dealer and the manufacturer have not offered any assistance. the speed was unknown. the current mileage was 89,890 and failure mileage was 84,900.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. the vehicle has goodyear wrangler rts tires. the contact noticed that the driver side rear tire was flat. the tire dealer stated that there was a hole in the sidewall. there were 3,000 miles on the tire at the time of the separation. approximately five months later, while driving 60 mph, the tread separated on the passenger side front tire. there were 13,000 miles on the tire at the time of the separation. the tire dealer stated that the vehicle had incorrect tires. the failed tire was replaced. approximately six months later, the contact noticed a gash on the driver side rear tire. the tire has been replaced. the current mileage is 62,000 and failure mileage was 47,000. the consumer stated all four tires failed within an 18 month period with less than 25,000 miles. updated 09/05/07 *tr
