Defect SummaryVehicle description: light duty pickup trucks, vans and motorhomes equipped with electronically fuel injected 6.5l diesel engine. this is not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation part 573. however, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. the campaign will improve the overall driveability of these vehicles.
Consequence SummaryCertain vehicles can exhibit some driveability concerns such as poor throttle response, stalling, misfire, poor hot or cold starting, extended cranking of a hot engine, or stalling after start. trucks with manualtransmissions can exhibit poor acceleration from start or could stall during deceleration.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install some recently developed enhancements which will improve the overall driveability of these vehicles.
NotesGeneral motors has decided to conduct a safety improvement service campaign to improve the driveability of these vehicles. owners can contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782.

 General motors unwilling to honor warranty obligations under a special policy amendment. tsb 00064 increases coverage for eleven years or 120,000 miles from date of service in regards to malfunction of the electronic diesel fuel injection pump. this includes 1994 chevrolet suburbans. *ak

 While driving vehicle stalls/misfires on acceleration, and longer time to crank hot or cold. at times slight touch of accelerator and vehicle lurches forward.*ak the vehicle cuts off at any speed, losing power steering and power brakes. this problem is extremely dangerous. consumer took vehicle to have it repaired as per recall 95i005, when vehicle was returned it was worse. consumer installed a vacuum pump which was needed but did not fix the problem. consumer took it back and was told a lift pump was needed and they guaranteed the problem would be fixed. it wasn't. now they can't duplicate the problem. *jg

 Pe94092, due to a defective diesel oil pump or computer module vehicle stalls while driving which may cause a crash. dealer said it was the way the vehicle operated. please provide further information and vin#. *ak

 The engine without warning quits/dies/shuts off thereby causing the lose of steering and braking. this vehicle has been in and out of authorized chevy dealr jim stutzman chevrolet in winchester virginia since october of 1999. although they have had their mechanic test drive it and he has experianced the problem when they hook it up to the computer it says nothing is wrong. i have been told by them that i never should have bought a chevy diesel and what do i want to do how much money do i want to spend and they will just start change out parts i am in fear of my life every time i get behind the wheel. i spent $350 dollars just last week having a part changed that they thought might be the problem this did not fix the problem as it happened 2 hours after i left the dealership on my way home. this vehicle weighs almost 4000lbs. i havwe been very lucky so far. what will ahppen to me when i am on the highway with a tractor trailer behind me and it dies? or like the first time when i was on a curvey mountainous road and it died and i ended up in a field and had to by sod for the lady whose lawn i ended up in. what if her children had been playing in the yard or i was approching a schoolcrossing? how many people have been in wrecks and injuried or killed and they weren't lucky enought to survive the first incident? please help me reslove the manufactorers defect before it kills me or someone else. i am not able to trade it in or by a newone and i should not have to because of a defect like this . thank you for your help. *ak

 Vehicle stalls at any time, then dies, and will not restart. dealer contacted, and repairwork done. however, problem still exists. provide further information. *ak

 While driving at any speed vehicle is stalling and jerking. it feels like something is falling off the vehicle. also, when applying brakes, they go straight to the floorboard. *ak

 Engine ran out of oil and engine failed, large amount of oil comsumption for engine, no leak present.

 Engine stops running spontaneously with no warning signs. loss of engine causes severe control problems such as steering and braking.
 Vehicle has had eight parts repaired or replaced within first 18,000 miles.
