EA02015GENERAL MOTORS CORP.08/01/200201/12/2004THROTTLE STICKING CLOSED
This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. the tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.in such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.the application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.on august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.the investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm

Brake failure at low speeds. almost caused a few accidents (parking lots and coming up to a stop sign or red light. these incidents happened over several months. i had brakes, calipers and rotors put on to try and fix the problem. the problem started out once so often and around aug. 2005 it happened everytime i drove my vehicle and took it to the dealer and had it repaired. both front speed sensors were removed and cleaned sensor mounting surfaces. to me this is a safety problem. this is nothing i could prevent from happening. defective material. i had an older suburban before this one and never had this problem. it was still running at 190,000 miles. *jb

While cruise control is in operation at speeds between 55 and 70 mph, the transmission will downshift into second gear and rapidly accelerate vehicle, causing the rear of the vehicle to swerve and on one occasion caused inthe vehicle to lose traction, consumer was informed in may of 2000 that the dealership had contacted chevrolet who stated they would correct the problem by writing a new computer program for the cruise control, however consumer was later told that this was not going to happen, consumer is requesting that vehicle be repaired or replaced and if that can not be done consumer requests to be refunded for the entire purchase price. *slc

I believe it is bad business to have this many window motor complaints and not have issued a recall, in addition to have had this many problems on a year old vehicle is ludicrous. chevrolet has lost a once loyal customer.*ak

Vehicle not only has steering, linkage, seat belt, and brake problems as reported, but also accelerator sticks. was repaired last in the fall of 2002, but as soon as temperature outside got to 60 fahrenheit the petal began to stick again. when you do get pedal to depress vehicle jumps forward rapidly. does all the time when weather is warm. *nlm
