(during cold weather warm up) loading vehicle while running, with rear hatchback open, and having rear heater fan on higher blower settings: this allows exhaust from (right side of vehicle) to be pulled into the rear heat air intake vent (also on the right side, extreme rear of vehicle) and is distibuted to occupants in vehicle. we had an 11 month old placed in a car seat when this occurred (upper heat vents selected) which allowed carbon monoxide to be blown directly into his face.. i imagine this could occur during any cold weather idling situation with the rear heater fan setting on higher positions (such as loading groceries after shopping, while children sit inside). thank you. *ak

Whenever brakes are in use vehicle can slow up, but fails to stop right away. stopping distance is increased. had hit a wall & a fence due to a lack of braking power. vehicle equipped with abs which was not the problem. brake pedal went to the floor. also, parking brake went to floor. taken vehicle to dealership at least 6 or 7 times. now pursuing the lemon law. battery failed. vehicle stalled. exhaust leaks and is loud. air comes through the center vent when the floor control is on. 4-wheel drive would not engage due to a short in the module. fuel sending unit was replaced. *ak *slc

My wife was driving our 2000 suburban on the interstate when she heard a loud sound which sounded like something hit the vehicle. upon investigation, we saw that the top of the rear window had an indenting like something had hit it and damaged the rear glass. so we filed a complaint with state farm and took it to a body shop. the body shop looked at it and said that the damage was caused by the right hinge breaking which holds the rear glass to the body. the hinge just broke on its own. after further investigation, i have found other people who have had a similar experience. it will cost about $1000 to repair this as there is no formal recall at this point in time. *tr

In july 2006 my rear passenger window started to not work all the time. the window would stick part way up, or down. the door hinges also started to squeak really bad. on one day while traveling with 4 young children in the back a child had opened the window about three inches, it then stuck. when we parked he tried to open the back door, the door stuck at about six inches open. an adult passenger pulled the door open. the window exploded in all directions spraying glass on all the children and the adult. the child had dozens of small cuts on his legs and arms. i had the window repaired , but the motor worked just fine at the body shop. on september 10th the same thing happened again. this time it was my 12 year old son who opened the sticky door. (the window was up this time) the window exploded again. he was cut all over his arms and the flying glass took paint off the door. i have the car at the body shop again and they will try and find the problem. the nearest chevrolet dealer is 45 miles away, when i contacted them they were unaware of any problems with windows or door hinges on the suburban. since the car has not been in a wreck and has had medium usage this problem is very scary. these cars are thought of as reliable and safe family cars, built chevy tough. doors and windows should out last everything on the car!!!. please don't let any more children get hurt!!! *nm

I have had problems since day one on this suburban. most recently the two above. i checked the warranty work that was done on my suburban and it was over a page of claims. i just cannot remember the dates the items i checked occured. the fuel pump problem was long in the coming, they just didn't know what the problem was. i spent outside of warranty hundreds of dollars on the fuel system. this left us stranded 3 times! this last time cost me $765. today, the abs sytem died. they say it's going to cost me close to a $1000 to repair. i purchased the suburban because it was safe to carry my wife and 7 kids. so far, we have been stuck on the road, lost vacation time and just can't feel safe anymore. now i don't have brakes. thanks for letting me vent. kent dold

I believe it is bad business to have this many window motor complaints and not have issued a recall, in addition to have had this many problems on a year old vehicle is ludicrous. chevrolet has lost a once loyal customer.*ak

Electrical- power windows inoperable for the first 8 months that we owned this vehicle, involved 5 trips to the service department before problem was fixed. body design? problem - tires did not clear vehicle body without rubbing, causing irreversible damage to the tires. to the extent that the dealer keeps recommending us to buy 4 new tires when ever they service our vehicle. brakes - possible that there is a kink in the brake booster vacuum supply hose. i need to suggest to dealer that they consider this for a problem that were having with a noise and vibration coming from the front end when you press and release the brake pedal. dealer recommends that we buy 4 new tires, the problem with that diagnoses is that we also hear the noise when the car is not moving! i wonder if they read their tsb's*ak (tiresize: p265/70r16)( dot number: tire size: p265/70r16 )
