| This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. the tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.in such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.the application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.on august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.the investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm | ||||||

| Speedometer on 2002 and 2003 model of chevrolet suburban sticks at a random place. we have been pulled over twice by police for driving too slow. happened more than once. | |||

| Dt: contact owned a 2002, chevrolet suburban. he filed a complaint before, and his odi number was 10099685. while driving vehicle completely shut down. consumer had to wait for about 15 minutes before starting it again. consumer stated that he had this problem since purchasing the vehicle. it stalled intermittently. consumer had the fuel pump replaced a total of five times. also, fuel filter had to be replaced several times. consumer stated that onstar called the problem code red. consumer was told not to drive the vehicle. at 70 mph the vehicle would surge and lurch. consumer stated that a clanking noise was heard when turning a tight corners. also, there was an additional incident on 8-26-04.*ak | |||

| The consumer was backing car out of carport and lightly hit a tree with the left rear bumper. consumer was attempting to place vehicle in park, but had only gotten to neutral when truck suddenly accelerated forward. truck crashed into a fence and the house resulting in severe facial injuries to a bystander. *nlm | |||

| While driving, consumer noticed the accelerator pedal was sticking, consumer proceeded to drive around a narrow two way highway which was wet at the time, consumer then released his foot from the accelerator and touched the brake moderately, however the vehicle kept moving without reduction in speed, consumer stated the tail end of the vehicle began sliding to the right and left as he was approaching a turn, consumer was finally able to apply the brakes once the vehicle was parallel to the road, the vehicle sustained damage and 2 blown tires. *jb *scc | |||

| Brake pedal failed to release cruise. brakes failed altogether causing brakes to go to the floor, subsequently vehicle had to be driven off road toward traffic bringing about loss of control of vehicle causing crash into another vehicle on highway and hitting a telephone pole. vehicle was totaled. | |||
