On dec 24, 1997 for the first time in chicago, ill, my sister in law and i were on our way back home from thier company x-mas party. there first real storm of the year winter that is. on our way back we could not get the vehicle warm the windows were frosted right up my sister in law was helpnig me scrap the ice off the inside of the windshield. all windows were froz in the inside with three kids in back covered with blankets. i thought may be i was doing something wrong because this was the first time i really drove it anywhere. we went really slow all other vehicles were going slow or already off road stuck i had the vehicle in 4wd so we plowed right through everything. we got home and i told my husband he was in another vehicle with my brother i wanted my child in my vehicle because of the weather being so bad i figured he is safer in a bigger vehicle. when my husband went out he started the vehicle up and did not believe me nor my brother. a few days later we left and sure enough on our way home to michigan not but a few miles the heat quit working . we stopped about 5 hours later to warm up and eat we went back out vehicle had heat again not for long thou. we then in return brought the vehicle into dealership right away. they replaced the control head. this is the first time if more info please right or call please help us!

The power window on the driver's side of the vehicle will stop working all of a sudden. it is not all of the time, but sometimes, when i have the window down, and i push the power switch to close or open the window it will not work. this could lead to a very serious problem, if for some reason i am unable to open the door and then the window will not go down. we live in michigan and you recently recalled vehicles because of a problem with the master power window switch causing fires in the driver's side door, which ended up melting and/or burning the door. there must be corrosion of the wiring in my vehicle that is causing the problem with my window. i know that your recall was not for the same year as my vehicle, but it sounds like the exact same problem and i don't want to end up having my car door catch on fire, especially if me or my family are in it, or if it is parked in our garage it could burn our entire house down. when we purchased this vehicle from the dealership it was brand new, and there have been no other owners. *tr

I have a 1997 chevrolet tahoe that has windshield wipers that do not work. this began about 3 years ago. at first the wipers worked intermittently and are now at the point where they do not work at all. i own a 1997 chevrolet ck 3500 pick-up that also experienced this problem and this vehicle has had the windshield wipers repaired as the vin for the pick-up was on the recall list. according to recall #03v159000, year model 1996 chevrolet tahoe vehicles are also affected and are the ones eligible for repair. it seems very apparent that the same circuit board that was used in 1996 vehicles has also been used in 1997 vehicles as i own a 1997 and it had this problem, as stated above. i am requesting that this vehicle also be eligible for the recall #03v159000 and therefore have the windshield wipers replaced. *tr

Windshield wipers occasionally would stop working or not work at all resulting in loss of visibility in inclement weather. dealer in local area stated problem was not covered by any recalls (gm truck/suv windshield wiper recall specifically asked about, but apparently only covers vehicles up through 1996). corrected problem by replacing wiper motor circuit board and cover myself using recall documentation and procedures applicable to 1996 tahoe. *nm

Windshield wipers work intermittently if at all, i understand there was a recall for this in the 1997 chevrolet tahoes and other vehicles, i understand that it only covered certain manufacturing plants, i am flabbergasted that if this is a problem in all the vehicles why they will not fix this problem for consumers. it is a very big safety concern. *jb

This occurs every day, all day. it is a well known fact with just about all late model chevy/gmc tahoe/suburban owners, dealers, mechanics & many in the auto publishing indusatry, that these vehicles have extremely inadequate braking systems, bordering on failures & extreme fading & warping & premature wear on the front mechanicals/pads/rotors especially. you can ask just about any mechanic & gm/chevy dealer& they will acknowlege this fact. they even tout that the newer models have such an improved braking system over the previous years. i own a 97 tahoe 1500 & the previous owner & everyone i meet who owns a late model gm truck has the same problems. there are even some independent mechanics who refuse to warranty their work & parts when they do brake jobs on these vehicles. i am talking mostly about the front disc brakes. have come close to accidents quite a few times due to warped rotors & faded brakes, especially when coming down an incline, even if it is a slight to moderate descent for not a long distance. the brakes need to be replaced more often than any vehicle ihave ever owned & for the technology that is out there. sometimes every year!!! i cannot believe that these brakes were ever certified safe by the ntsb or ??? and that there are no recalls on this extreme safety hazard to the public. also.. the wiper motor on these vehicles is prone to failure (intermittent or complete,) and is also a well known problem in these circles & a serious sagety hazard as you might expect. thank you.

My 1997 tahoe exhibits the same antilock failures that are listed for the 1999 models for nhtsa campaign id no. 05v379000 but it is not included in the recall. the same is the case for gm recall no. 03023/nhtsa id no. 05v37900, the windshield wiper circuit board. i have the same failures continuously in my '97 chevy tahoe but the recall was extended only to suburbans. as a former gm engineer i know that the same parts and suppliers are used across the board for all of the gmt 800 series (tahoes, suburbans, yukons, etc.). so i don't understand how one model can be recalled when essence all models should be recalled. *nm
