Tl-the contact owns a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the spare tire underneath the vehicle was not connected after checking the vehicle. the contact realized that the tire may have seperated from the vehicle due to a defective hoist that holds the spare in place. he has no idea when the spare seperated from the vehicle. the contact inspected his vehicle and replaced the hoist. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was approximately 135,000. tb

My 1999 chevy tahoe was just diagnosed with a fatal case of frame rust. i purchased the vehicle new and have had it maintained by qualified and certified mechanics, as required. on nov. 23, 2009 i brought the vehicle in for a scheduled oil change before i went on a trip. they notified me that the brake lines were almost rusted through and that the vehicle was not safe. they had to replace the brake lines. when the vehicle was put on the lift they saw that the frame had severe rust throughout. the plate on the differential was so bad that they were concerned that it may rust through. the final diagnosis was that the vehicle may not be serviceable in one or two years. the vehicle only has 66,000 miles and is on otherwise excellent condition. i saw the recall on the same year tacoma tacoma trucks and it seems like this is the same syndrome of a truck frame rusting out before it should. i think that chevrolet should recall these vehicles the same as toyota and remedy the problem. i invested over $35,000 in this vehicle and i would not have purchased it if i thought it would rust out in only 10 years of service! i feel defrauded. *tr
