August 2001 i purchased a new 2001 chevrolet tahoe from danvers chevrolet. that fall the dealership replaced the faulty seat belt and the seat. the seat belt is still not operating as originally intended and gm will not admit fault. the repairing dealerhsip - hillcrest chevrolet in salem, ma (have been great with me) are not allowed by gm anymore to replace seat belts or to attempt to fix the locking mechanism that immediately chokes anyone sitting in the seat - as if the car was involved in an accident you cannot more anything but your eyes! hillcrest employees have seen and experienced the problem. gm has the same problem with the trailblazer but are not willing to help me anymore - i made them aware of the seat belt law in massachusetts; they don't care. i need help to get the seat belt fixed so it can be used. if anything happens to anyone in my car because of an accident; if i get stopped and a ticket because the seat belt can't be worn - i can't imagine what will happen. i am in tears over this and am desperate for help. please help me. cathy comora-favaloro. *ak

In the process of folding down the upright portion of seat back heast rest flipped back aggressively, one of the passengers had hand on/near/over headrest slot; thus while pushing down the seat the headrest unexpectedly flipped back, pinning the finger in the slot and lacerating it from side to side, the spring loaded headrest remained taught until seat is lifted back up beyond the latch release point after which the headrest must be flipped forward to latch back into position, the passengers finger was fractured, required seven stiches. currently, has to go to a hand specialist for nerve damage. nlm. *ak

Seats are designed to accomodate a male not a female. since females are more likely nowadays to buy this vehicle, comfort issues are problem. a major deal is the way the seat folds you in half opposed to reclining you. also the seat support presses against your middle back causing you to have to push your torso outward while your legs are downward. you feel like you are constantly having to flex your abs and it is just a major discomfort especially with your back. please note that only 1man noticed this problem but each and every women noticed it also -immediately,resulting in loss of sale to other manufacturer's vehicle. i have names and complaints even from a female owner of an older denali with comfort seats who dislikes the new seats. also the seat-belts are extremely tight. the seats dont go back far enough and the rear seat has no leg room.my compalints resulted in different solutions like we can't alter the seat at all or it'll void the warranty you should have noticed that before you drove it off the lot, it's yours now you can take it to an upholstery shop but you'll have to pay for it the latest, take it to upholstery shop and see what they can do which the upholstery shop said not much since gmc put the airbag in the seat knowing all this, i should have purchased the plain tahoo because the discomfort was not worth 13,000.00 difference!*ak

Putting down the second row seat to climb into the third row seat the headrest folds downs automaticly. my 10 1/2 year old son had his finger pressed down into the headrest closure as he was putting down the seat. he severed the nerve and tendon in the upper half of his middle finger that required surgery and 3 months recovery, with therapy. i was wondering if other head rest accidents have been reported. i have a clain on file with general motors asking them to look into other reports involving the headrest.*ak

I own a 2001 chevy tahoe. on october 5th, 2005 i smelled something burning. when i parked my car and pulled a file folder off the seat, it was singed and there was smoke coming from the passenger seat. there was also a brown burn mark and the leather seat was melted. i went to an appointment, making sure there were no indicator lights on. two hours later i started the car and the smoke began again, this time much worse. i went to sandberg cadillac; they were going to charge me $110 to disconnect the seat. the service manager had gotten into the car to move it and said the seat was still smoldering. they tore the seat out of the car and there was a fire under the leather. at that time the $110 discussion was dropped. i made a comment to the 5 gentleman that this is under warranty, but isn't this safety issue all agreed. steve and i went back inside and he arranged for a loaner car, through enterprise. sergio said that he would be putting a call into his gm rep and that he would talk to them about covering the expense of the seat and getting my car back to the original condition of before the fire. there was chemical smoke damage on the interior which dan; the technician assured me they had a machine that would be able to get rid of that smell. october 6th, i speak with sergio and after speaking with the gm rep he is not willing to cover the damage and the extended warranty will cover the hardware, but not the actual seat cushion or cover. at this time we are looking at $1000 worth of damage not including the any rental car expense. i at that time requested a corporate number and reached a bruce mitchell. i gave him the details of the incident and he assured me that someone would be in contact with me between 24 and 48 hours. i am now at the 48 hour mark and have heard nothing. *jb

I am writing to you at the request of general motors service advisor. i have a 2001 chevrolet tahoe. at 39,000 miles one of the third seat latches in the back broke. this prevented the seat from latching down in place and let the seat pop in and out of the floor mounted locking brackets. general motors customer service sent me to the dealership and agreed to cover the item as a warranty issue and then subsequently asked me to file a complaint with nhtsa so that the issue could be looked at to see if there are any other similar circumstances in which the safety of an occupant riding in the seat could be compromised. 2001 chevrolet tahoe vin 1gnek13t51r101941 part number 12478359
