I have 4 michelin cross terrain tires p265/70r17. they are under warranty with plenty of tread but the side walls (not near tread) of all four tires have deep long cracks (up to 8inches in length) i noticed this sept. 2010 and the dealer isn't very helpful and just wants to charge me money for new tires. i believe this is a huge safety hazard and they should be recalled!

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe equipped with firestone steel radial a/t tires, size lt245-75-r16. while driving on the highway at approximately 60 mph, the right rear tire blew. the inner side wall failed. the contact called the manufacturer but was told that the tire was not included in any recalls. the tire mileage was unavailable. the current and failure mileages were approximately 60,000.

Stopped to check air pressure in tires, that's when i saw the front driver side tire with a 6 inch sidewall separation leading from the rim sidewall to the tire tread. the rear driver side has a 3 inch separation starting into the sidewall. *tr

The speedometer is broken. after registering wrong speeds for a day (sometimes 0 mph), it finally stuck on 120mph. it no longer works. i contacted the dealer for help with the speedometer and with a problem i was having with inaccurate tire pressure readings and an inoperable second row (middle) seat belt. the dealer said sorry it is out of warranty, but the salesperson said she would check to see if there was anything she could do and call me back. i never heard from her. i can appreciate normal wear and tear repairs. on a two year old vehicle, i expected to replace my tires, not my seat belt and speedometer. at this point, i do not intend to buy another gm product!! i also do not intend to purchase from james wood in denton or decatur, texas. *tr

While driving a rock penetrated the tread and casing of the tire causing it to go flat. *** no answer required*** *ts updated 11/7/2005 - the vehicle was purchased with an off-road package which included goodyear p265/70r25 m&s on-off road tires. the consumer was driving on an unpaved road when a rock penetrated the tread and casing of the tire causing it to go flat. the vehicle was taken to a goodyear dealer and the tire was replaced (5300 miles). the tire tech stated that he has replaced many of these tires. a little over a week later the consumer was driving on the same unpaved road when a second tire was penetrated by a rock and went flat (6492 miles). the vehicle was taken to the dealer were all four tire were replaced with a different brand. the consumer feels that these tire are unsafe for use on unpaved roads and request reimbursement for the cost incurred due to the faulty tires. *nm

 (1) purchased new 2005 chevrolet taho with firestone willderness le (p265/70r-16 bw) tires 12/30/04 from bill heard chevrolet, 7224 east mcdowell road, scottsdale, az 85257. with less than 2000 miles on vehicle same tire (right rear) started losing air pressure. 1st time took to dealer they said nothing wrong. 2nd time fradulentlly charged me $17.07 to reppair. warranty book, part #05chevwar a first edition says bumper-to-bumper (includes tires) for 3yers or 36,000 miles. vehicle only 3 months old and less than 4,000 miles. after paying for repairs still have same problem. same tire (right rear) still loses air. (2) luckily no failure yet due to warning light on vehicle that alerts you to check tire pressure before tire blows out due to underinflation. (3). after 2 trips to dealer nothing has been done to correct failure.*ak

I am the original owner of a 2005 chevrolet tahoe with all original equipment. the vehicle standard equipment includes a tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). the problem i have is that all five (spare tire) tire valve stem caps have seized on the valve stem which prevents adding air to the tires. the problem is due to corrosion between the contacting surfaces only of the valve stem and valve stem cap. the corrosion is due to the reaction between the dissimilar metals of the valve stem cap and valve stem. this can cause a safety issue if you have low tire pressure and cannot add air to the tire. not to mention that the repair is significant as the tpms sensor must be replaced. the valve stem and valve stem cap are the original parts that came on the new car. i took my car to the chevrolet dealer and they were not able to remove the valve stem caps without breaking the valve stems. i a person needs to add air to the tire they will likely end up breaking the valve stem. *tr

The service tire monitor warning displayed frequently and reportsed that a tire pressure reading was unavailable. this happened since day 1. each time the vehicle has been brought in for service, the problem has been reported, and an attempt to correct has been performed. two years later, after at least 5 attempts to correct the problem, it still existed. thiswas a major annoyance as each time the monitor waring displayed it caused you to inspect the tires , and check pressures to ensure proper inflation, especially since tires were made by firestone. *ak
