SERVICE BRAKES

While approaching an intersection with vehicles approaching from several directions, i applied my brakes but found i had none. fortunately, the other cars noted my situation and stopped for me. there was a gm dealer one block away, so i slowly drove there. i turned off the ignition. i re-started the vehicle and found i had brakes again. i slowly drove to village chevrolet which was not far away. i was told the ebcm and bpmv were not builing pressure for the booster. they serviced and reprogrammed and delivered the vehicle the next day. on january 14, 2013, while driving i noted that again i did not have brakes. fortunately, i was in a low traffic volume situation and i was able to slow to a stop. again, village chevrolet was not far away so i took the vehicle in for service. the bpmv and the tansmission auxiliary fluid pump were replaced at a cost of $2,700. it is of concern that new brake design and technology is such that one cannot gain functional brake repair at a reasonable cost. this was my sixth tahoe from village chevrolet but it is my last gm purchase. i understand the vehicle is out of warranty, but village chevrolet says they have not have any similar problems. if that is the case, why would the company not stand behind new models with new technology for a basic need such as brakes. what if i had been driving on the freeway at 70 mph? now, while braking, i note a difference in pedal pressure during the braking process. i am going to have the vehicle checked at a different dealer. brakes are not just important, they are essential!! while the financial circumstances are disappointing, my main concern is the brake safety issue. *tr

Power brakes failed on this hybrid vehicle. the dealer says the power brakes can fail if the hybrid battery pack loses power. the brakes continued not to work until it was towed to the dealer, and they reset the computer system. they said they don't know if or when it will happen again and cannot do anything to prevent it. they said if the brakes fail two more times we could use the lemon law to deal with the problem. *tr
