| In october 2007, gm initiated a special coverage program for all my 1999 through 2004 chevrolet tracker vehicles sold or currently registered in salt-belt states.the program extends the warranty coverage for front suspension crossmember corrosion to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.gm is administering the program in phases due to part availability.the first phase started in october 2007 and covers the my 1999 and 2000 vehicles.owners of my 2001 through 2004 vehicles will receive letters at a future date, but are eligible to receive free repairs from the program if the crossmember requires replacement.gm's program provides free inspections for consumers every 12 months through the terms of the policy adjustment.copies of the dealer bulletin and owner letter for gm's special coverage program are attached to the closing report for this investigation. the rate of confirmed lca separations at 5 years in service is less than 10 per 100,000 vehicles, which is low relative to other investigations of front suspension issues previously investigated by odi. accordingly, this investigation is closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted. see document file for additional information regarding this resume. | ||||||

| I was driving home from work when my car swerved to the right and went of the road and hit a grove of trees head on. my car was totaled and none of my airbags went off. why does this happen i could have been killed. also i received a safety notice about my cheverolet tracker 4 days before this happened having a problem with the front suspension crossmember doe someone have to die before a recall is done and why didn't my air bags go off someone please look at this car before it gets hauled off by the adjuster!!!!! i was airlifted to the hospital the fire department cut the roof of my car off to get me out no airbags what happened!!! *tr | |||

| Letter to the administrator from senator grassley on behalf of constituent re problems with his 2003 chevy tracker *tgw the consumer sated while driving, he noticed a peculiar problem, that became worse on turns, braking and pulling the vehicle to the left. the consumer took the vehicle to his mechanic, who advised him of a recall. when the consumer contacted gm corporate, he was informed the vehicle was out of mileage and was told there was nothing that could be done. the consumer referenced an issue of front suspension corrosion of the lower control arm. the front suspension cross member may not have received adequate corrosion protection. *jb | |||

| Car lost control and i couldn't stop the car. ran through a light and intended to use an abandoned building to stop my car, but when i hit the curb the car rolled multiple times and landed upside down. i got the recall notice 2 days after the accident, by then it was too late. i have to locate the district for the accident report for the exact date. i am entering today's date to advance the form. tw* | |||
