I was in a car accident, where i was traveling at about 35 mph. an aggressive driver speed around me and cut me off and than stomped on this brakes in front of me. due to that i swerved to miss him clipping his right back light ad bumper with my left headlight and bumper. as i was swerving i hit a tree just about dead on with my ar. the majority of the impact occurred just about 6 inches to the left (if looking at the car) of the center of the front of the car. i hit the tree at a speed of about 28-30 mph. after initial impact i was rushed to the hospital due to unconscious and facial contusions. during the first moments after the accident, one of the first things officers, emts and witnesses said was i can't believe the airbags didn't go off. in the recent days after the accident i have had several mechanics and such appraise the car, the one common theme they all share is that they suspect there might not be an airbag where it belongs. or the lack there of. *tr

On friday, october 7, 2005, our client was driving her 2002 chevrolet trail blazer in springfield, illinois. soon after turning a corner from ninth street west onto cook street at approximately fifteen miles per hour, all airbags in the entire vehicle discharged at one time. our client was pummeled about. the vehicle had not been struck or in an accident at said time. our client had merely just completed turning the corner. a service air bag warning had turned on in the vehicle the previous day, and she had already planned to have the vehicle taken in at the local chevrolet dealership in springfield, illinois. general motors was contacted but denied any responsibility since the vehicle was just past the warranty date. eventually, the local dealership replaced all of the air bags but still was unable to confirm what was the actual cause of same. *nm

Problems with air bag dash light, fast engine idle, air conditioner, rear hatch inner strap broke, etc...*mr the airbag light was intermittent. the sir module was replaced, and there was poor terminal connection at the sir wiring harness, and was traced/repaired on the left side impact connector and the codes were cleared. the engine idled fast(especially at start up, and the fuel mileage was 13 mpg. the results of the evaluation and repairs were: passenger impact connector was loose(repositioned/connected), idle within specifics, the emblem had fallen off, the rear hatch inner strap had broken, the transmission seemed to take long to shift into gear(happened sometimes when cold), and the pcm needed to be reprogrammed(j6355 power train controller pcm). there was a thumping sound in the rear differential when shifted, the a/c would blow out cold air when the a/c indicator was off, hot air would come out of the defroster area on the dash when the indicator was set for heater on the floor, the engine made a tapping sound, the lift gate weather strip had come apart, and the battery kept losing charge(3 occurrences). *scc *jb

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i was traveling southbound on ky hwy 1531 (eastwood fisherville rd). when i approached a sharp curve in the roadway, i observed a honda odyssey minivan traveling northbound too fast for the icy, snowy road conditions. the minivan driver lost control of her vehicle and struck my 2002 trailblazer head-on in the southbound lane. at the time of impact, my trailblazer was completely stopped with my right foot pressed firmly on the brake pedal. the honda odyssey airbags fully deployed. my trailblazers airbags did not deploy. both vehicles were total loss. my trailblazer was towed to gm repair shop bauchman chevrolet in louisville ky. it remains stored in its original post-accident condition. i have retained ownership title of this vehicle. gm repair shop noted extensive frame damage and broken airbag sensor. this is the second front end injury crash involving this trailblazer where the airbags failed to deploy. see also odi case # 10314629. gm was notified of incident and again i opened an investigation with gm as to why the airbags failed to deploy. as of this date (2/26/2010) gm investigators have not inspected the vehicle. (gm case [xxx] ). i suffered low back injuries as a result of this accident. this injury occurred 8 weeks after spinal fusion surgery. i have been in physical therapy since the accident for joint damage in the sacral illium area. *tr

I was traveling at approx 44 mph southbound on blankenbaker ln (louisville ky) when vehicle 1 failed to yield right of way at intersection and made a left hand turn eastbound into the path of my vehicle. i struck vehicle 1 (a 1991 cadillac brougham) essentially driving through the passenger side of the vehicle. both vehicles sustained severe front end damage. specifically, my 2002 trailblazer sustained over $8000 in damage the airbags did not deploy. i fractured my sternum and bruised my heart as a result of this accident. all repairs were made by gm repair shop (bauchman chevrolet, louisville ky). i initiated an investigation with gm as to why the airbags failed to deploy. after 10 month investigation, gm ruled that accident was a non-deployable event stating that my vehicle did not stop suddenly enough to trigger airbag deployment but continued to travel after impact becoming lodged on highway divider. see also accident of jan 7, 2010, where same vehicle was struck head-on while at rest. both vehicles were a total loss. again, airbags failed to deploy and gm shop found broken airbag sensor and severe frame damage. *tr

I drove to the airport i got there early and my son was sleeping so my cousin and i decided to take a little nap as well. it was thanksgiving week. it was very cold outside so we started the car to warm it up after about an hour, then my son woke up so we decided to start getting everything ready to get on the shuttle. remember we are parked in a parking lot and have not moved for over an hour. we got my son out of his seat brought him to the front seat with us, i was getting his diaper bag ready and my cousin was changing his diaper and putting his shoes on for me. when she was done my son wanted me and as soon as he got to the middle console, out of no where the front airbags deployed, on both sides drivers and passengers side! luckily none of us were hurt and my son was where he was or he would have been severely injured he was only 18 months at the time of the incident! as soon as i got home i called general motors myself and reported the incident and they made an appointment with me to investigate what could have made this happen. they said they found nothing, so obviously there was a default somewhere. i have been trying to get help for months now and i am getting no where. i could trade it in but without airbags i am losing a couple thousand dollars. both sides are still all open and not fixed i do not have the money to fix them, i do not and did not want to sue, i would just be happy with a trade in so i can have a safe vehicle for my family and myself. *tr

I drive a 2002 chevy trailblazer 4wd and my son was driving the vehicle on halloween night. he was driving the speed limit of 30 mph and swerved to avoid a possum in the road, he overcorrected and lost control of the car causing the car to colide with a tree at the front panel and driver's side door. upon impact the air bag did not inflate and the car immediately caught fire. luckily my son was able to crawl out the passenger side window but this could have been a terrible situation. we would like to know why the airbag did not inflate and why the car would have caught on fire with a driver's side impact?

After returning from a business trip. i started my car at the airport, and the second that i turned the ignition the drivers side airbag deployed. i took the car into the dealer the next day to get it fixed. after looking at it dealer said the repairs would cost $1500, and that because the car is out of warranty gm would not be able to pay for the repairs. after calling the gm customer service line, they told me the same thing, that i should take my complaint to the bbb. after that conversation i decided to pay to have the repairs made, and then have the bbb arbitrate the situation. but on the following tuesday june 20, 2006. the dealer called and said that gm would not provide him with needed technical support to diagnose why the airbag deployed for no reason. he said that until i agree not to sue them over this, they will not provide the needed information to help fix my car. i do not feel this is right. *jb

I was traveling northbound approximately 30 mph on a dry paved two lane road in my 2002 chevrolet trailblazer ls equipped with side impact airbags. i was hit (t-boned) by a mini van traveling approximately 30-35 mph traveling the wrong way on a one way street with a blind intersection. impact was directly in my front passenger side door, pushing the front passenger seat inward against the center console, rolling up the floorboard, breaking the hinges of the rear passenger side door, ultimately flipping my vehicle over onto the drivers side and pushed approximately 10 feet into the intersection, causing my drivers side mirror to roll into the drivers side, and shattering the drivers side window. other undercarriage damage was also caused do to the impact. failure: my 2002 chevrolet trailblazer is equipped with side impact air bags. passenger side airbag failed to deploy, despite major damage as result from direct impact to passenger side front door. drivers side airbag failed to deploy despite impact from rollover onto drivers side, resulting in moderate damage. consequences: if a passenger would have been seated on passenger side serious injuries if not fatal injuries would have resulted due to amount of intrusion of passenger front door into the passenger compartment with no srs protection. driver of vehicle sustained minor injuries from being tossed against drivers side interior front door area with shattered glass. as the owner of vehicle, i contacted chevrolet directly and filed a report, i was advised that i would be contacted within 2 business days to gather further information to conduct an investigation. it is officially past 2 business days and i have heard nothing from chevrolet. vehicle total loss due to damage via insurance. *jb

While driving at 25-30 mph in rainy conditions, the consumer had lost control of the vehicle and ran sideways into a tree, but the side air bags did not deploy. contacted dealer/manufacturer who was not willing to do anything. *ak the accident impacted at a pilar between the front/rear passenger door. the seat where air bag was located had been crushed. the roof and the side of the vehicle were severely damaged, the air bag(s) did not deploy. if someone were sitting there they would have been killed. the dealer says that the system on the board did not deploy due to the pitch of the impact. *scc
