In june 2010 the overhead dvd player quit working and the bose in-dash stereo systems began to intermittently work and not work. in may 2012 the windshield wipers would sometimes not turn on and at times in operation would stop operating mid way. at the same time, the bright lights sometimes would not come on. moving the steering column up and down would allow the brights to operate, but in most cases they don't work at all. the heat & a/c fan motor only works on high speed as well leaving the other speeds inoperative. it seems there may be an electrical issue in the steering column and i'm not sure if the stereo and dvd player would be somehow connected with that portion of the wiring harness. i contacted chevrolet and they say there are no open recalls for our vin number. *tr

I have had multiple issues with my 2002 chevy trailblazer where the 4x4 selector switch will not work, or while driving at highway speeds the vehicle will be put into four wheel drive while the selector switch is still turned on two wheel drive. the selector switch at times has not worked when i wanted to make the vehicle go into four wheel drive. i have found out the vehicle is in four wheel drive by having a hard time turning the front wheels and seeing the front tires spin on loose gravel even though i never switched the vehicle into four wheel drive and the selector switch states it's still in two wheel drive but the yellow light is lit up that it's in four wheel drive. i have complained multiple times to gm and have had the selector switch replaced 3 times but it still continues to happen. everytime that gm looks at it they say that it is working just fine. i have seen and heard that many other people are having the same problems with this. i feel there should be a safety recall put out for this drive selector switch.
05/31/2011120000
I feel that even if you have had a recall issue once and the situation continues to happen then it needs to be fixed until the problem is solved i have contact gm several time and nothing has been done to ratify my problem with the windsheild wipers and the 4 wheel drive and several other recall issues this is sad i say we need a class action law suit i am not one to to take legal action but for people that have this kind of money and to not fix their problem that they put out on the roads for us to drive safely is shameful

My 2002 trailblazer 4x4 came locked up completely with no possibility to even open door with the key. chevy dealer blamed the module vcm located under the behind seat that must be changed. re-programing all seems working but erratically until the effective change of vcm module. is there a possibility to repair it ? thanks all, regard, eric

The rear right and left brake lights and rear turn signal lights have burned out repeated. i purchased the 2002 chevrolet trailblazer in december 2001. the problem first started to occur when the brake lights failed at 30,000 miles in 2003. i had to replace the circuit boards the lights plug into at my own cost to fix the problem. there was a recall to replace the circuit boards in 2004, nhtsa #04v527000, which i had performed on the vehicle. subsequently the circuit boards burned out again a few years later. i took the vehicle back to the dealership and they said they wouldn't replace the circuit boards at their expense. i then purchased and installed the circuit boards myself. in 2010 the circuit boards burned out again. i took the vehicle back to the dealership and they investigated and said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle other than the circuit board. they charged me $191.50 to investigate the problem and change out the circuit boards again. this is a safety issue because the rear brake lights and rear turn signal lights not working increases the risk of a crash. i received a ticket/warning on 2-2-11 for the brake lights not working but expect the brake lights will become inoperative again soon as this is the 5th set of circuit boards that have been placed in the vehicle and they keep burning out, and chevrolet/general motors hasn't supplied a satisfactory correction to solve the problem. current mileage is 159,000 and the problem started at 30,000.

Chevy 2002 tb lt/4wd - multiple electrical problems since purchased (used 3/2010). started with rear ww non-function which chevy dealer charged $1500 to repair, claiming it was bad body wiring harness and it was not an uncommon problem but chevy would not take any responsibility. after repair, other electrical issues have popped up from things as simple as outdoor temperature gauge not working, passenger window won't roll up/down (though motor is fine) as well as pass electric doorlock and mirror nonfunctioning. larger occuring issues which could effect safety include the vehicle randomly deciding to change from 2wd/a4wd/4wdh4wdl whenever it wants to under various weather/road conditions (including perfect weather and road surface) and occasional random ignition system failure. otherwise great vehicle with seemingly normal wear and tear problems but chevrolet's refusal to acknowledge responsibility and provide repair is disgraceful, irresposible and dangerous.

My headlights started to flicker one seasonably winter day. i had the heater motor replaced 2 months prior to this incident and back wiper motor just a month before this.then the heater motor cut out, and did so numerous times as i traveled on a 20 degree day. it seemed to run fine after that for the most part that day. i later got into it and again headlights flickered and heater motor cut out. especially when i would accelerate or turn to the right. i replaced the battery, alternator and had ground wires cleaned only to have it recur a week later. i do most of my driving at night and when the lights went out and came back on i had had enough. this had become quite costly and my mechanic was at a loss as to what to do next. i took it to a chevy dealer and traded it in on another vehicle, as i can no longer afford to keep spending money on a mystery issue.

Car running great, parked it for an hour then got in my car and it wouldn't start. dash lights and radio came on but wouldn't turn over. took the key out, front headlight stuck on. kept trying to start. opened hood, smoke coming from fuse box. removed fuse box cover, the fuse box was melted over the fuses and was on fire. disconnected the battery and put out the fire.

Details: i have a 2002 chevy trailblazer. when i press on the accelerator the vehicle will lose power for a moment and regain power in heavy traffic. also, the service engine light will come on. i took this vehicle to a service center and they told me the repairs that it supposedly needed . everything from the fuel pump to every sensor that you can think of . now it seems to be something with the electrical system. i have already replaced the whole steering collum and everything that they suggested . but the problem with the vehicle did not change. this vehicle has been doing this for 8 months with . i believe that there is a electrical issue somewhere in my vehicle. somebody help! *tr

I have a 2002 chevy trailblazer. my inside lights have stopped working and i assumed that is was due to a blown fuse. i took it to the chevy dealer ship and they stated that i may have a wiring problem. the wire the connects to my headlight burns out easily and my bulbs for my taillight has to be replaced often. can you please assist. i have to replace the head light wiring several time and have to replace the tail light bulbs. the problem started several years ago. the last time that i had to replace a part was december of 2009. *tr

It has the memory mirror option which includes featuring memory set options for driver 1 and driver 2, as well as rearview curb assistance (the mirrors will tilt down to your setting to help parallel park when in reverse).the mirrors quit holding their memory, causing me once again to have to reset the mirrors every time i got in the car. on numerous occasions, i thought my mirrors were reset, and then i would look to change lanes and find my mirror tilted up towards the sky or some erratic place. not to mention the safety issue, but it has been an extreme annoyance. went to the dealer multiple times and they reset the mirrors, but they don't know the cause. *tr

I own a 2002 chevy trailblazer and i have had my headlights checked because not always but once in a while they just completely turn off sometimes at night time while driving. i took it in to a repair shop and nothing was found wrong with it but the problem continues i have to have headlights and brake lights changed like every month or so my truck one day didn't turn on couldn't figure out what was wrong with it sat in my garage for about 3 days and everyday i would try to turn it on but nothing after the 3rd day went and tried again it came on without a problem and it's been okay just the problem with my headlights still going off at night once in a while. i know 2 other people who have 2002 chevy trailblazers and have had kind of the same problems. i believe that their is an electrical problem with the 2002 chevy trailblazers. *tr

Purchased new 2002 trailblazer ltz which has had this problem since 2005. driver & passenger mirrors position themselves erratically at every ignition and sometimes while driving. a constant twitching on the passenger side also occurs while driving. it is very dangerous when mirrors are not positioned correctly once driving. chevrolet dealer failed to find the fault and reprogrammed twice. no parts have been replaced as they have now idea what the problem is or how to fix it. this seems to be a common problem, however. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the brake lights in his vehicle were completely inoperative. the dealer replaced the brake lights, but the failure recurred. in 2005, the instrument panel made a clicking sound and sporadically failed. the contact believed that the failure was directly related to the brake lights. the dealer stated that the instrument panel failed and the contact paid to have it corrected. in 2008, the instrument panel failed again and completely stopped working in january of 2009. he spoke with two different mechanics and they stated that there was a recall for the failure. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle had been previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 03v096000 (electrical system:wiring:interior/under dash); therefore, they could not assist. the current mileage was approximately 170,000 and failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

When i touch the buttons on my radio they get very very hot. their is a long list of things wrong with this 2002 chevy trail blazer. but when i contacted chevy they told my that my suv is not one of the ones affected? their is a noise in the front and the right side of the truck seems lower, like a shock is broken? the rear windshield wiper never worked. the air conditioning only work on the highest level ( 5 ). the rear tailgate never locks when you hit the power locks. the tape player starts on its own, and will blow a fuse causing an electrical smell. the day i bought the 2002 chevy trail blazer the head gasket blew and the dealership replaced it with a used head gasket. this suv has alot of issues and is getting unsafe to drive. i have tried to have chevrolet address these issues but they wont fix anything without me paying for them. i am on a tight budget, and i have seen alot of recalls with these issues that i have described. shouldn't they fix these things free of charge? please help! *tr

We bought the vehicle in 2004-2005, about a year later the instrument panel started having some intermittent problems, that's when we found out about the recalls. we took the vehicle to the local dealer (airport chevrolet) where the repairs were made. about a year later the instrument panel started having the same problems, i took it back into the dealer, they said it would cost me about $500 to have it fixed and it would not be covered under the recall. i contacted chevy by email, and after a couple of months of emailing back and forth they said they have to draw the line on age and mileage for the recall. i told them i was going to contact my attorney, they said they did not want to hear anything more about it and not to email again. since then we have driven the vehicle, the more we drive it, the more something else, electrical, goes wrong. i.e. the rear wiper does not work, the cooling/heating fan does not work, the radio/cd player gets really hot, the last thing that happened was the battery got fried and my cell phone while plugged into the cig liter for recharge almost got fried, almost too hot to touch. so i am paying monthly payments for a vehicle i can not drive. *tr

I have a 2002 chevy trailblazer. when i press on the accelerator the vehicle will lose power for a moment and regain power in heavy traffic. also, the service engine light will come on. i took this vehicle to a service center and they say that the engine is running rich and running lean. the service center told me to use the rest of the gas in my tank and refill my tank with new gas at a well known gas station. i did as the service center requested by filling at exxon, but the problem with the vehicle did not change. this vehicle has been doing this for 3 months with 80,000 miles. i believe that there is a electrical issue somewhere in my vehicle. *tr

I own a 2002 chevy trailblazer ltz. the problem that i'm having is that the driver side mirror loses its memory and always needs adjusting when starting up the vehicle and even while driving!!! i have done everything that the manual suggest and even took it to the dealership twice to have it worked on. the problem came back and is still present. i think that this is a huge safety matter for the fact that the mirror moves on its own while i'm driving the vehicle. i hope something is done about this in the near future. thanks. *jb

I live in southwest ohio and i own a 2002 trailblazer. i noticed that in december of 2006, my rear windshield wiper would not function when turned on. shortly thereafter, we had our first frost and i noticed that the rear defogger/defroster was not working. it is now nearly 0 degrees outside and even if i clean the window with a scraper, it still frosts up while driving. i have looked for a fuse to replace, but find none for the rear defrost, and the one for the rear wiper is fine. just yesterday, i picked up some large items at a home improvement store and was unable to unlock the rear gate, i tried to use the button on my remote, to which the car no longer responds, even with new battery, i tried to unlock it from the driver side controls with the car off and turned on, but nothing happened. so there me and my pregnant wife were standing in zero temperature weather with three large items on a cart and nowhere to go with them. we ended up paying somebody to haul them to our house. *nm

Vehicle type: 2002 chevy trailblazer. brake lights, tail lights, and turn signals at the rear of the vehicle fail without warning. light bulbs burn out in hours or days, rather than weeks or months. no signs of moisture in the tail light assemblies that would shorten bulb-life. the total light failure has happened 6 times in the past 3 months. no accidents, but several near misses. have spent more than $150 in new bulbs for tail lights and brake lights over this time frame. old bulbs do not always appear to have burned or broken elements, but have replaced them anyway for safety sake. windshield wipers don't work when turned on, or come on when switch is in the off position. dash lights all light up for no reason. heater/air conditioner blower won't work, and power windows won't work when dash lights are lit. took this problem to the dealer for repair. said they couldn't find anything, but reset the computer just in case it was malfunctioning. this happened again on the way home from the dealer. called them back the next morning, they said there wasn't anything else they knew to look at. this happens about once every other week and is intermittent. this part of the problem does not occur at the same time the brake and tail lights fail. problems have been on-going since i purchased this vehicle in february 2004. *jb

Brake light bulbs i have replaced the brake light bulbs 2 times since i have owned the vehicle in the last 6 months i recently blew another making it the third buld on the drivers side. vehicle was taken to be serviced and it was said that there was a seal that was letting moisture in the assembly, new assembly was put on and just recently blew another bulb. there are three bulbs in the same assembly why is it only the brake light buld that is affected if it were caused by a leaking seal.

The vehicle repeatedly switches into a 4 wheel drive (4wd) and 4wd modes on its own during normal 2wd operation. the dealer claims that the onboard computer recorded no such occurrences, and therefore is ignoring the problem. numerous similar complaints filed on this nhtsa web site indicate that this is a widespread problem with the trailblazer which mere replacement of the 2wd/4wd switcher module will not remedy. this fact--taken along with frequently burning out bulbs (running lights as well as brake lights)--suggest that a possible larger yet more fundamental electrical wiring problem is what's plaguing an otherwise excellent vehicle. this is truly a shame. *la

We have been having problems with the brake lights not working on our 2002 chevy trail blazer. we have been told from the dealership that we bought our vehicle from that there is no recall on this issue and that they are aware of problems with other trailblazers with the same problem. we have been told that we have to buy new plates that hold the tail lights that put out lower power to the bulbs. the current plates that hold the brake lights constantly burn the cotacts in the bulbs. i have been told by the dealership that the new bulb holder plates are $70.00 each plus the labor. to me having no brake lights is a major safety hazard and you usually do not know when they are out unless you are notified by someone or you are pulled over by the police. we have also had similiar problems with the headlights but they last about a year before they need replaced. so much for quality in our craftsman ship for our american made vehicles.

Wiring harness burned up. caused damage to control panel, dash, computer system. entire vehicle gutted to replace wiring. a door panel was broken in process. several rattles now exist. we were told there was no way of knowing if electrical problem would occur again. gm agreed for repurchase. however, they delayed procedure so that 0% financing can not apply. also wanted us to pay out of pocket, buy back amount said we would be reimburced, but would not put it in writing. dt
