| I was driving on the freeway when i noticed my speedometer suddenly went to 100 miles an hour. i knew this could not be the case as my gps showed i was traveling at 55mph. it then went to 120miles an hour and flip flopped back and forth. i went to the chevolet dealership and they informed me it was the electrical cluster and even though there were many compliants, chevolet would not pay for it. the cost to me would be over $500 i live on a small social security check, so could not afford to repair it. next at 85,000 miles the fuel gauge went haywire and would not register any fuel although i would fill it completely. also, the lights blink off and on when i am driving at night, so, i am afraid i will be stranded somewhere in the dark with my car quitting all together. this was my last car purchase before i retired and i am just sick that the chevolet company will not fix these defects...they fix the same cluster in their chevolet trucks....why not in the cars? by the way, i just got a letter last week saying they would split the cost to fix the fuel gauge...(my cost is $200 1/3 of my social security check!! | |||

| There have been several occasions where my headlights (only) will not come on at night or they will shut off while i am driving. again it is only my headlights. it happens randomly. one day it will do that and the next day it won't so of coarse when i take it to the shop to have it looked at everything is fine. however i know i am not alone because of the web searches i have done on the issue i can see that several people are complaining about the same issue. | |||

| I bought a 2005 chevrolete trailblazer about 2 years ago, it only had 49,000 miles on it when i bought it. the right taillight is not working, it hasn't worked since about a month after i bought it. i have fixed the problem twice and it just keeds tearing up. i feel this is a great safety hazard and could cause a lot of deaths because a person can not tell if your slowing down and cause a wreck. i feel like chevrolete needs to recall this problem. i have noticed that mine isn't the only one that is tore up around my small town of 17.000 people. i have noticed at least 5 more just in this town that are not working properly either. | |||

| I was at the gas station filling my tank and the check engine light flashed on and then the low fuel warning message came on in the message center along with the low fuel indicator by the fuel gauge. i turned the truck off and on and the warning message and low fuel light stayed on. after driving for a while, it eventually goes off, but the fuel gauge does not register more than a 1/4 of a tank even when filled up and the warning message comes on along with the low fuel indicator as soon as i start the truck after filling the tank and when the truck is idling, the low fuel message and light come on. another issue with the truck is that the lighting system dims while driving and when i bought this issue up at the dealership, they said it was a known issue with the truck, but did nothing to correct the problem. | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 50 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. she pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the plastic covering detached on the brake light, which was located on the rear liftgate. the contact was able to safely place the piece back on, but the wires were exposed. the piece is not safely in place because it is being held together by duct tape. the vehicle has not been repaired. the dealer stated that the failure would not be covered under warranty. the manufacturer would not provide compensation because the failure was not covered under warranty. the failure mileage was 31,000 and current mileage was 33,500. | |||

| The speedometer sticks at various speeds. sometimes it shows *below* zero when i'm moving. last night, i was traveling at approx. 65-70mph, i assume, but the speedometer was stuck at 30. when decelerating, the speedometer will stick at certain speeds, and then jerk down suddenly. my trailblazer only has about 53,000 miles on it. i have seen reports of this issue beginning at 30k, but most kick in at around 50k. i am calling the shop today. from what i've read, it's related to a faulty stepper motor. if i am able to update this report, i will. however, i think this is very unsafe and am not going to wait to report it until after the repair; i've seen at least 40 (i stopped counting) other complaints about a malfunctioning speedometer in 05 trailblazers on aboutautomobile.com (i also have issues with dimming lights and headlights flashing at night). *tr | |||

| Massive electrical problems with chevy trailblazer 1. while going 10 miles an hour, the speedometer jumps to 120mph then to 50mph then to 120mph again. 2. when i fill up with gas, the gas gauge states that the tank is still empty then moves to full then to a 1/4 then to full then to half etc... 3. while driving at night, my headlights go highbeam to low beam as if i am manually flashing my lights at other cars. i have read on the internet where this is happening to many many people with this same model of chevrolet suv and that gm refuses to do anything about this. -i called gm and advised them of the entire issue. they advised me to go to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic as this was needed before they could help me. -i went to the dealer and paid $115 for the diagnostic, needless to say the repairs that the dealer found ranger over $3000.00 dollars. -i then called gm back and they took the information that the dealer gave me (donna at 1-866-790-5700 x21153) -i just got a call back from gm stating that because of the mileage on the suv that they were not going to do anything (they knew about the mileage before they sent me to the dealership!). so i wasted $115 dollars for something that was not needed by gm, and the fact that they knew about the mileage to start off with is a way to let the dealer make some money off the consumer. *tr | |||

| My 2005 trailblazers headlights flash when you let up off the gas pedal. also, the amp gauge drops, the engine revs down and the inside fans and lights dim down. the flashing of the headlights is getting worse, and like others have reported, the traffic ahead thinks you are blinking them to either pull over, or speed up. i too notice it more in the colder months. i agree -this is definitely a safety hazard! something needs to be done about it. i have reported the problem, but they say nothing can be done. purchased this suv brand new, had problem from the beginning. too many people with same problem. general motors should be ashamed. *tr | |||

| Speedometer on my trailblazer showed a wildly inaccurate speed reading. this reading was very low and could have resulted in a speeding/ safety situation. the speedometer could give a false reading allowing the driver to enter a curve or city at an unsafe speed. at a stoplight the needle pointed straight down instead of zero. i contacted gm who informed me that there are not enough complaints on this specific model to warrant a recall. as i understand it the components causing the failure in the models being recalled are the same as those in trailblazers. my vehicle also has the dimming/flickering lights at night. gm has a technical bulletin out that says this is normal. there has to be a reason for these issues. i don't call losing lights at night normal. nor do i have confidence that the lights will not fail completely. *tr | |||

| Night driving under normal circumstances the vehicle a chevrolet trailblzer ls 2005 has a problem that randomly shuts off the headlights and dashboard lights. the trailblazer decides to do this totally on its own at random. this causes a potentially deadly situation when on the interstate and your headlights go out and decide to come back on at random intervals maybe aproximately 15 to 20 seconds apart. several attemps have been made to the chevrolet dealership to get the problem repaired. their comment is that they either cannot duplicate the problem or their is a service bulletin that explains the issue. i have done the procedures that the dealership described in the service bulletins with no success. currently my trailblazer is being repaired once again at terry lee chevrolet as of 12-19-06. the last time that the vehicle was in for repair terry lee chevrolet replaced what they had though was a faulty body control module. replacing this module obviously did not rectify the problem and on thursday 12-14-06 the problem once again returned. since the vehicle is used to transport my childeren and wife who have been driving primarily at night. i have become skeptical about whether or not the vehicle is safe to actually drive at night because you never know when the lights will decide to turn off by themselves and potentially cause them to be in an accident. *nm | |||

| I own a 2005 trailblazer lt witch i purchased new in july 2005. i too have experienced the problem of flickering headlights and dash lights. i have taken the vehicle to the selling dealer several times with the problem, the last time in may 2008. the dealer has never been able to duplicate the problem, however, the last time i was there they did produce a gm document (#2046572) that did admit there is a problem. the document states at this time, there are no repairs for this concern. engineering is revisiting this concern. i also consider this to be a serious safety issue. *tr | |||

| Purchased 2005 trailblazer 3/8/05 @ bacon chevrolet in palestine,tx. problems: while driving headlight & interior dashboard lights flicker & shut off, engine loses power & surges lunging forward, battery gauge drops & pegs out, check engine light comes on, ding alarm, radio, electric locks, etc, w/ no key in ignition go off & on, no power cant start vehicle. svc mgr/tech comments: cant duplicate complaint, no codes showing, gm bulletin stating normal & working as designed, can not replace or work on anymore due to tech/gm motors stating normal, or until problem can be duplicated or until they have a way to fix. repairs:(total of 9 times in shop) 2 headlamp switches, 1 battery, 3 times wiring harness gone through, numerous pcm updates/reprograms, fuel pressure check, ipc reprogram, data recorder installed, replaced bcm body control module, workorders have been altered & work stated done that has not been done. i have all my workorders. conclusion: took to bbb of tyler,tx.cs#chv0592738, had arbitration hearing. bbb's decision was that their opinion was that the lights going off while driving was not a safety issue. thought the bbb was suppose to be a consumer advocate! i found this website while doing a college research paper. how many other consumers have same problem, but do not know about this website. will anything be done before someone is killed or is that what it will take! *tr | |||

| In march 2007 the check engine light came on and stayed on . i took vehicle to dealer to have it checked out. it turned out to be the secondary air pump either clogged, not running or something electrical with it. ever since then all the exterior and interior lights became bright then dimmed for a few minutes when i start the vehicle. after leaving for work and stopping the vehicle to turn, and then again a few miles down the road, the headlamps started to flicker. sometimes it flickered a few more times before i got to work , only 25 minutes from home. i have noticed the battery gauge fluctuated while this is happened. i was told that this was normal. also, i am not sure this was related, but ever since the check enginelight problem the air conditioning system did not work properly. it didn't work on 5, but it did blow some on the other levels, and that varied too. i have had the air conditioning recharged, to no avail, it acted like there was a leak somewhere. hopefully ,gm or someone else will find the solution before there was an electrical fire or even a case of road rage due to other drivers thinking i wa s flashing the bright lights at them. *ak | |||

| While driving my 2005 chevy trailblazer the headlights go out momentarily and i also notice a flickering on the dash lights. this normally happens within the first 5 minutes of driving and continues for the 15 minute commute. so far i only notice this happening at night. i normally drive about 10 miles each way to work. i work 12 hour shifts both days and nights. as a result, i tend to have to drive to work and home in the dark. i am worried that the system will totally fail. furthermore, when i am driving behind people and the headlights keep flashing at them it causes me to worry that their attention is now focused on my headlights instead of the road. the first time it happened i had my radio, rear-defrost and headlights on. i also noticed that the battery/charging gauge drops below 10v when this happens. however, the same condition has been repeated with only the necessary equipment running. for example, headlights, taillights, and dash lights, all other equipment off. i currently have been doing a some reading on-line and have found that many people who own the 2005 trailblazer have experienced the same problems with their headlights. i have not replaced any parts yet. the vehicle is under warranty until 36k; the vehicle currently has 24k miles. *jb | |||
