2005 cheverlot trailblazer has had an issue since i purchased it in 2004 with stalling out. however over the last 4 years i have had an issue of no start... everything has been replaced by the dealer ignition switch, alternator, starter, exhaust, etc.... last result was the pcm powertrain module supposedly the brains of the car. however the same day it stalled again, most recently my dealership took it for a week and said they could not reduplicate issue. so there again i am at the same place where the car will be fine for weeks then do a no start untill after serveral attempts and smell of gas finally the car will start. chevrelot trailblazer have known this problem for awhile has done nothing about it ...resolve the issue and do a recall spent over $10,000 on just maintenance.. what is chevy going to do about this issue? ## vin failed ##

The fuel gauge on my 2005 trailblazer has started to register the fuel incorrectly. when the vehicle is filled the gauge drops to empty, and then will vary from there sometimes showing fuel, sometimes not. i am hearing this is a common issue with this vehicle.

Went for an oil change and my transmission dipstick handle was rusted off (kind of hard to remove it). i can't find anywhere that replaces them either....

My 2005 trail blazer instrument cluster is going out it started with the oil gauge and now its the gas gauge, i was also told by the dealership that eventually my speedometer would stop working, it is etremely dangerous because i am not aware of how much gas is in the vehicle or if the oil pressure is having an issue. this repair at the dealership is costly

The fuel gauge does not work. this seems to be a very common problem, and gm's only remedy is to screw over consumers by making them pay for a known defective part out of pocket. this should be recalled and fixed at gm's expense, or they should at least offer a discount. their $800.00 estimate is silly.

My trailblazer's gas gauge has read empty for over 2 years now, the light is constantly on. it has caused breakdowns while driving. after reading other posts, this should be recalled no matter how many miles are on the truck.

After filling my gas tank and exiting gas station. i noticed that my fuel gauge was showing half full, even though i just put in 20 gallons of gas in the tank. as i drove further down the rode i noticed the gauge would go back and forth from empty to full stopping at diffenet points. at some points would stay at empty.

There is a potential safety issue related to the spare tire winch of gm vehicles that have an underside mounted spare tire. i used my winch for the first time and found it difficult to lower the tire from the underside of the vehicle. yes, i had to break out the owner's manual in order to figure out the secondary release! when the service station went to put it back up, they told me the winch was defective and needed to be replaced. i took it to the dealership and they agreed. i'm claiming that this is a common issue and a design flaw. gm is saying it is normal wear & tear. i'm having a hard time swallowing this since it has only been used once. now they are claiming environmental factors and rust, caused by salt in my state. they are pointing to some loophole in the manual to deny responsibility. understand that i'm outside of the 3/36 warranty, but still believe the company should stand behind their product and take ownership for this flaw. if this area is prone to rust and has a history of failing (as indicated on my automotive forums), what is to keep the spare tire from flying off during operation of the vehicle. if this spare will not snug up to the underside of the body, it seems that hitting a bump could cause the tire to break free or one of the rusted components could cause it to drop expectantly. i have tried numerous times to get this resolved through my local dealer and gm's customer care division, but they refuse to take responsibility for a poor design.

I bought my2005 trailblazer new in 2006. the rear driver side door quit working and i had to use a bungee cord to keep it shut until i got it in to a mechanic to look at. i was told that somehow water got inside the door and damaged the components mechanic was able to get the door to shut but warned me if it was opened again it may not shut so it has been duct-taped up so my children won't inadvertently use it. i noticed rust on the top of the vehicle in front of the moon roof very early on. the rear passenger door has to be opened gently from the back portion of the handle as it appears it is going to break off in the near future. the rear hatch and also the glass portion of the hatch back has now stopped working. it was brought in for an oil change and i asked the mechanic to check it out he was able to get it unlocked a couple times by pressing the auto unlock on the key repeatedly (more than 3 times he said) i have not been as fortunate and have not been able to use the rear quarters now because of this.

The speedometer does not reset itself when the vehicle slows or stops. insted, it resumes from a higher speed. for example, if you are travelling at 45mph and stop at a stoplight the spoodometer may drop to 40mph upon stopping. then when you resume travelling it starts from 40 instead of 0 so the speedometer shows you are travelling 60 when you are going 20, 70 when you are going 30 etc. when you stop again it will come to rest at an even higher speed, until eventually the needle shows over 120 mph when the vehicle is sitting still! i have done some investigation on line and this appears to be a fairly common complaint from fellow owners. general motors apparently dopes not consider this a safety issue and as such will not pay for the repair which is $500 or more. i'm not sur how not knowing you rate of travel is not a safety concern for them, but it certainly is to me.

Driving on the interstate i noticed a pop and upon further review of the vehicle, i found that the third tail light assembly has broken free from the clips that hold it on to the vehicle. it is still attached by 1 bolt but this is very dangerous if the assembly breaks free. i have seen several complaints on this particular vehicle that could cause severe damage to oncoming traffic and potentially cause an accident. this needs to be addressed by the manufacturer immediately.

The fuel gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer reads empty most of the time and at other times when it does register fuel it can't be trusted. the cluster on this vehicle had to be replaced when the speedometer would stick and could not tell how fast the vehicle was traveling. this repair cost me over $600. this is a very dangerous situation to be in. the online blogs show many people having the same problem, but chevy wont recognize this problem.

The front blower stopped working while my wife was coming home from a trip with my kids .the temperature outside was 28 degrees the windows fogged up and she hit a deer that she would have seen if the windows weren't fogged.i have replced the blower resistor switch which had a burnt connector it lasted 3 weeks and has gone out again. this is a very bad problem because even when you have this problem repaired it still malfunctions without warning. this is putting myfamily at great risk. onthe other hand had i known that there was problems with chevy trailbrazers and defective parts i would have brought a toyota.

In 2006 while driving the headlights would flicker. the dealership said this is normal. now when driving the headlights will cutoff for approximately 10 minutes and will then cut back on. it can be after driving for 2 minutes or 30 minutes. the high beam lights work fine when the regular headlights will not. for the past 2 years the gas gauge, speedometer, and oil pressure gage do not work properly. i can be stopped and the speedometer will show i am going x mph. it varies on the amount of miles the speedometer is off. the oil pressure gauge always sits below the low line. the gas gauge is not correct but does move. this vehicle is a peace of junk.

About 2 weeks ago the speedometer in my 2005 chevy trailblazer stopped working properly. the only thing out of the ordinary was the nearly 16 inces of snow that we got in the chicagoland area. at first it would not move, then it read that i was going 30 mph while the car was in park. now it is stuck past 120 mph. i am unemployed, still trying to make car payments on this car and do not have the $500 + that chevy has told me they would charge me to fix this problem that i am sure they are well aware of with this make, model and year suv.

Own a 2005 chevy trail blazer all of a sudden the gas guage stopped working then i was driving home from out of state and went from 50 mph then into a town which was 30 mph and the speedometer got stuck at 36 mph and would not go up or down the rest of the trip. i did not know how fast i was going and got pulled over for speeding. this is an issue. both of these issues with the 2005 trail blazer seem to be happening to a lot of people among other issues within the dash. chevy really needs to make a recall because after paying $700 to fix the gas guage, it went out again less than a year later. i was also quoted over $500 to fix the speedometer. why hasn't there been a recall on this issue!?

Since june 2010, the fuel level gauge on my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer has not functioned properly. regardless of the actual fuel level, it reads at 1/4 tank or below, which causes me to rely on my trip odometer to estimate my current fuel levels. i have checked with the chevrolet dealerships, and they are charging between $500 - $800 to correct this problem! as the previous owner of two gm vehicles and the daughter and granddaughter of general motors retirees', i am sorely disappointed in general motors refusal to admit the failure of the fuel gauge system that has affected thousands of vehicles.

After returning home from shopping, my wife and her friend pulled into our driveway and she placed our trailblazer in park. there was a loud sound she said sounded like an explosion and the rear lift hatch window shattered sending glass flying. at the time of the glass shattering the outside temperature was close to 30 degrees. the rear defroster was not on. i came home from work and we cleaned all the glass from the driveway and the interior of the vehicle. there was no explanation as to why this happened. i contacted the insurance company and the window was fixed for a cost of $754.70 by safelite glass repair. i looked on the internet and did a search of similar incidents and found quite a few. i contacted gm by e-mail and told them what happened. gm thanked me for the information but did not offer any replacement or reimbursement. fortunately no one was injured and our granddaughter was not in her car seat at the time. this could have been very dangerous if my wife would have been opening the lift gate when the glass shattered. gm said this appeared to be an isolated incident and i offered to send them links to other identical complaints that i found. i would like the nhtsa to please look into this as this does not seem to be an isolated incident and there was no warning of this failure. the glass was in excellent condition prior to this happening and the vehicle has never been in an accident and is in excellent condition.

My 2005 chevy trailblazer speedometer stopped working. this started as an intermittant problem and has progressivly gottan worse. there seems to be no corolation between outside temps and when it works. when it does work it displays inaccurate speeds. this seems to be a consistant problem in 2005 trailblazers based a an internet search for the same problem.

The oil level indicator in the dash panel is no longer functioning. a call to the dealer where car was purchased confirms that this is part of an instrument cluster that also controls the speedometer, and that it will probably malfunction as well.

2005 chevy trailblazer...power to instrument panel including radio cuts in and out leaving a variety of warning lights lit and low fuel warning audio signal going off. resets when ignition is turned off, but happens again when car is started and happens in irregular intervals for the entire time the car is running. the door locks (including hatchback) do not always unlock when car is stopped, and interior lights and radio sometimes stay on. all gauges (gas, oil, temperature, etc) go to zero. after talking to a mechanic friend, we took the dashboard apart, pulled out the cluster and put it back in. that appears to have stopped the problem for now, but we have not used the vehicle much since doing the repair. we have been told it could require a new cluster costing in the $400 range not including labor. it is interesting that 2003-04 vehicles with this problem were covered by a special policy, but not the 2005.

First the gas gauge stopped working. it always stays on empty even though i have a full tank. then the check engine light started coming on randomly. finally the speedometer stopped working. it will read 70mph even though i am stopped. there is a problem with the instrument cluster and clearly needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints filed.

Speedometer failure while driving 2005 chevrolet trailblazer lt on the highway. needle doesn't move at all. cannot determine speed of vehicle. brought to gm dealership. diagnosed as instrument cluster failure. similar cluster failures have occurred on other gm model suv's and trucks (tahoe, suburban, sierra) and have been handled as recalls. gm has not acknowledged that the same failures which have occurred in chevrolet trailblazers are a safety defect worthy of a similar recall.

The gas gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer has stopped working. it gradually stopped registering the actual gas. after filling the gas, it register empty. as i drove, the gas would register as full. eventually it stopped moving at all. this has been going on for a period of 6mos. i started filling the gas more often. after filling the gas, 2 days later, the vehicle shut off in the middle of the highway, causing a near traffic accident because there was no warning. clearly, i wasnt out of gas. i had just fill the gas and became accustomed to how far i could drive before i needed to refill. this was very dangerous. it is obvious a defect in the gas gauge. i wasn't sure until now after visiting this site that i am not alone. the speedometer has also stopped working. i'm sure if it is registering the mileage i drive. not knowing how fast i am driving is surely a safety issue. i visited my mechanic is was given an estimate of $500 to repair. surely it shouldn't take a death to rectify this issue.

Just after purchasing the vehicle on december 29, 2008, i noticed the engine has accelerated and the car surges forward when stopped. if i do not keep my foot on the brake, there is a high potential of surging into the back of a vehicle in front of me. an accident has almost happened many times. i have had it looked at by the dealer i purchased the vehicle from on february 4,2009 and was told there is not a problem. it most likely will not be a problem until i rear end someone while stopped. this continues to happen on a regular basis, a year and a half later. i was not aware i had an opportunity to report until the toyota recall happened. i have been living with it, anticipating the surge every time i am at a stop.
