The driver's door controls stopped working and there was an immediate electrical burning smell and smoke. the windows stopped working entirely. it was very apparent that something in the door had melted or burned (no visible appearance of fire on the outside, no flames). i took the vehicle to a gm dealership for repairs, which i opted for based on the severity of the issues and would other causes may be at work (would this happen again? what else was affected?), and they replaced the door control (not inexpensive). i believe this matches gm#12180 and nhtsa # 12v406000. the actual event occurred a few years ago- the date is very approximate and may not be accurate. the area is nj. there were no out-of-the-usual circumstances with the use of the vehicle. in coming across this while researching it, i thought i would include my event for your purposes. the recall process has been slow; personally not very satisfied, i've spoken with gm and they are still working on sending the letters to reimburse those of us who actually encountered this.

The suv would not start in october 2012. i was told i needed a new battery, so i bought one right away. i drive the suv very infrequently, maybe only 40 miles a week. on decmber 7, 2012 the headlights started to flicker while i was driving across the chesapeake bay bridge in maryland. this was very concerning because it was getting dark out. i drove directly to a friend's house, and when i tried to park the suv the lights would not turn off. even after manually trying to turn off the lights and removing the key from the ignition, the lights would not turn off. finally the lights went out, but the battery was dead when i tried to restart the suv in the morning. we tried to charge the battery. this caused sparks by the fuse box and the lights inside the cabin began to turn off and on, even with the key out of the ignition. the headlights also started to flicker off and on and the doors locked an unlocked. i had the car towed back across the bridge to my local mechanic and was told i need a new battery. obviously the battery is not the issue. i would like to know what gm intends to do about the faulty wiring in these models and how they are going to correct the issues related to the recall notice i received in october 2012. the recall number is 12180 and i think this current problem is related to it. i received the notice and it states the parts are not available at this time and to park the vehicle outside. i called and asked if it is ok to drive the suv and was told yes. since i must drive across a 5 mile bridge several times a week, i am concerned the truck will break down and cause an accident. i am also concerned a passenger or my pet dog could be injured. *tr

The truck has been at a several times into a chevorlet dealer, the check engine light the reducded engine light and the traction control lights all come on at the same time and it causes a a failure in which the vechicle losses 90% of power . the failure happens at random time and all weather and traffic conditions. i have had it at two dealers as well have contacted gm excutive dept. they have claimed to be fixed several times but it still fails. the issue at hand is that in traffic conditions this failure proves to be a huge safty hazzard for myself and other drivers on the road. its not a used car issue as its an elecitrical failure issue. i have asked time and time again to have a gm field tech come look at the car but, they insist that the dealer fix it. i need someone more to see and understand the failure comes with at great risks of other drivers on the road. if you goggle this problem you will see others have the issue and i think its worth a recall if they can find a fix for it but after 3 years and several tries they are still unable to fix the issue.

I came out to my vehicle today, unlocked the door with the keyless remote but the driver's door was unresponsive. upon starting the vehicle i realized the windows don't work on the driver's side as well. i removed the driver door control module to find a burn mark internally on the door as well as burnt plastic on the door module itself. the window and lock worked fine the night before so i'm concerned with the short circuit occurring over night without a key in the ignition. *tr

Having a problem with the vehicle rpm dropping while idling and the head lights flickering and sometimes shutting off. check engine light come on and the code said it was the idle air control valve it only happens when the ac compressor is engaged. the problem seems to go away when the ac is turned off. have not not had it repaired yet because it's a fairly expensive part.

I have had several problems with my power windows going up and down and then just not working at all. i smell smoke sometimes but can't locate the cause of the smoke. i have also had problems with the electrical connection to the radio, which also works sometimes but the majority of the time it does not work. i have had this problem for a long time now and need a resolution before my suv catches fire. i also have problems with the drivers side power door lock which works intermittently-whenever it pleases. i recently started having problems with my rear wiper blade-turn it on and it moves a little then stops. my headlights dim up and down while driving...i have replaced the alternator and the battery and still don't have enough power for some reason-dealerships want to charge a lot of money just to diagnose when it appears that this is obviously a defect in the electrical system of the suv. *tr

I have a 2006 trailblazer and a few weeks ago my driver side control panel stopped working. could not use my remote to open the door and was unable to put any windows down. i thought there was a short in the wires somewhere because the next day the panel worked. now, two weeks later i stopped at the store and was getting out of the car and again i could not lock my doors using the button on the control panel. i left the door unlocked and when i came out (within minutes) my door window had gone down on its own while i was in the store. when i got into the car, my daughter and i could smell something burning. she immediately made me go to the garage and have her mechanic check it out. he was able to remove the panel and showed us where the plastic part that goes inside the handle had melted and could have caused a fire in the car. he called around to try and find a replacement part and was finally able to find one and was quoted over $300 for just the part!! then, i had to set up an appointment with the dealer to have it installed because it has to be programmed to my car and i was quoted about $103 for installation!!!! i can not believe this problem has not been listed as a recall after reading all the complaints with the same problem. i plan on getting a phone number from the dealer for the gm corporate office to file an automotive complaint tomorrow. i hope to be reimbursed for this part and the labor charge. this sounds like a serious safety issue to me and thank goodness my car did not start on fire while i was driving. read more: http://wot.motortrend.com/nhtsa-opens-investigation-on-2006-2007-chevy-trailblazers-for-power-window-switch-issues-169431.html#ixzz26rrcv9ed. *tr

The vehicle windows open and close randomly. the front driver panel controls all windows and will close the windows randomly if open. my child has been close to injured due to this.the side view mirror will randomly move in the downward direction while i am driving.the front driver door will stay locked even after turning the vehicle in park and shuting the vehicle off, locking me in. the manual switch to unlock the driver door doesn't always work either, so i need to climb over to the passenger side of the vehicle to get out.all these occurances are dangerous to me and my children and i would like this to be addressed. i have contacted the dealership and gm and they said i do not fall under the recall due to my location, even though i spend a significant amount of time in the northeast coastal area. the dealer also refused to fix the problem saying they don't have the prtocol on the recall repair of this vehicle. gm has that record. updated 08/11/12 *bf

While on vacation in ny i went to move my trailblazer to be able to pack up for the trip home and when moving it i noticed a strong smell of electrical fire and noticed smoke coming from the area around the drivers door master window switch. i quickly turned the truck off and pulled the switch plate out of the door but it was to late. the damage had already been done. the switch had shorted and melted all of the ribbon cable in the switch and rendered it inoperable. there was a slight misty rain when all of this occurred, i am just glad it happened in the driveway and not on the highway. i called and talked with chevy and they told me there was no recall for this and there was nothing they could do to help and then stated that it was vin specific. so which is it no recall or vin specific? *tr

Initially the interior lights as well as the head lights will flicker while the car is running in park. the drivers side window stopped working in april 2012. the other three windows continued to work. june 2012 the radio began to cut out when hitting a bump in the road. the dash radio lights would go blank and the clock reset to 12:00. this occurred on at least 4-5 occasions. other times when hitting a bump the radio would make a static cut out sound but wouldn't fully go out. july 2012 on 3-4 different occasions all of the dash lights came on at once while driving down the road, the gas gauge dropped to empty on a full tank and the ding ding ding sound came on while driving. august 19, 2012, after driving about 8 miles the car smelled really funny like burning rubber or wire. sniffing around the smell was originating from the front drivers side dash/door hinge area. at this time the rear drivers side window stopped working. the two remaining passenger windows continue to work, however hours later the smell still remains in the car. *tr

This not a formal complaint, simply information. we had a 2006 trailblazer that had the power equipment switchplate melt down when the vehicle was garaged. when i parked it the windows were up and when i went to the garage 2 hours later the drivers window was down and the smell of smoke came from inside the drivers door panel. switchplate was in-operative. my point is gm know about this as early as 2007 and neglected to do anything about it. this agency almost killed off toyota for allegedly hiding known defects; perhaps it is gm,s time in the chair?

The problems just began with my car with the gas gauge working intermittently and with in 2 weeks i had to change the drivers side taillight which was not only burned out but the housing was melted to the bulb. next within a weeks time i was in the drive thru getting food and all the gauges just flashed and the car died. upon trying to restart it several times the lights flashed off and on; the doors locked and unlocked themselves and their was not even enough power to call onstar. check fuses found no problems. still waiting diagnosis and getting it fixed. *tr

The drivers side window control panel would not work for any of the windows. the vehicle was not running. i checked the fuse and found it to be blown. i replaced it with the exact same size and type of fuse. then i tried to roll up the drivers side window. the door window control panel switch then began to smoke and there was the smell of burning electronics and plastic. i took it to the dealership and was told the control panel and regulator had fried and would need to be completely replaced. *tr

After a recent rainstorm, windows will not work from driver side window switch. windows will go down and come right back up. they now are working intermittently. sometimes they will go down and not come up, or go down and come right back up. very dangerous, especially with kids if they like to put their hands out the window while your driving and it goes up on them; it's possible they could get their hands stuck and cause serious injury.

Power windows were rolled up and key off and vehicle unattended and locked. later in afternoon after it rained it was reported the drivers window was down. after checking on the vehicle the window had rolled itself down sometime while in at work. the drivers window switch would not operate. after getting estimate at gm dealer(700+) and body shop(350 plus programming at gm dealer), they were able to jump motor to roll up window and disable switch. harness and switch were starting to melt and deform wire insulation at drivers window switch but did not catch on fire or melt to bare wiring.

This issue started when the back hatch of the trailblazer would not lock or open and the rear wiper would not work. after dealing with this for a few months the doors, windows and driver side seat stopped working. also, the doors would not lock/unlock with the keyless entry. after some research, i changed the lgm fuse (it was blown). once the fuse was changed everything started working except the back hatch. i manually locked the back hatch and closed it. once the hatch was closed all of the doors locked and i could not open the truck. i manually used the key and opened the driver side door. when i opened the door i could hear the electrical wires burning in the door panel and throughout the truck. the truck was filled with smoke and smelt of burnt plastic. luckily i was not inside the truck when the fire started because none of the unlock or window buttons worked. i would have been stuck inside of a burning truck. i unplugged the negative charge of the battery and put the fire out. once the fire was out i tried starting the truck and it would not start. i went through all of the gears with the truck off, i pulled up the e-brake and the truck started. once i shut the truck back off it would not start again.

While driving down city road, i began to smell a burnt smell. i looked to my left and saw a little wisp of smoke from my driver side power window switches. i immediately stopped, shut off vehicle, popped hood and disconnected power to my battery. i called friend who is a mechanic and he took out switch cluster. opened the cluster and saw a burnt mark on bottom left of curcuitboard. it will need to be replaced

After work i went to leave when i noticed my car smelled like burned plastic, i couldn't figure it out until i tried to roll the windows down and they did not work. so i popped the window component out and unplugged it, which was the smell, the unite must have fried (melted) while the vehicle was off. researching it to try and replace the part i found multiple instances of this happening, where fires are caused by this module. i'm hoping this will help to have a recall, people door's should not be starting on fire, especially when the vehicle is off.

Fuel gauge suddenly became inaccurate. reads empty and chimes empty even when full. since it happens intermittently, it has caused me to run out of gas more than once in past three years. received blanket offer from manufacturer to cover half of the expense, so they know it is an issue, but should be a total recall for safety.

Driver side speaker intermittently comes on (rarely). driver side window switch intermittently works. it used to intermittently fail, now it rarely works. occasionally, all the driver controls on the dashboard go dead and the radio doesn't work. the lock doesn't work. the abs light and traction control light always illuminate. this intermittent electrical problem has been one big headache and it all seems to point to the drivers side window switch which is under investigation for fires. there is a defect in these window switches and the owners of the vehicles should not be burdened financially because of this.

Control panel in driver's side door shorting out: window mostly would not go down, but if it did go down, it would not go up till you shut off the car and restarted. heated seat would come on all by it's self. discovered 1 morning side rearview mirror re-adjusting it's self, car was off. occasional smells of hot wire. the fuse to control panel was taken out before anything else went wrong.

The middle of march 2011 i smelt something burning. i did not see smoke. my drivers side window and control panel stopped working properly. there are several different things that have occured over the past year. drivers window sometimes won't roll down at all. sometimes it will roll 1/4 and stop, sometimes it will roll all the way down. when rolling back up i have to make 1000 clicks to to get back up. remote keyless will not lock or unlock drivers side door. mirrors can not be adjusted. currently all 4 windows will roll down from drivers side control, but will immediately roll back up without pressing the up button. other 3 windows will roll down from each door but will also automaticlly roll up without being prompted to. it's almost as if the up button is being held down constantly. my concern is that i have a child who's hand or fingers could get caught without warning, and not knowing if the windows will roll back down is concerning. i am unable to lock the other windows from being controlled by other passengers. i have checked all fuses and so far they are okay. i have taken the panel apart thinking that the connections were dirty and not making a good connections and that did not help.

I went to work at 4pm got off at 12am,unlocked my door and went to open but didn't open so i opened the back driver side door and noticed my whole truck had a burnt plastic smell,i started to look around and noticed the smell came from the driver door panel,no noticeable melting from out side but the burnt smell is there, door panel isn't lit up for working,i googled the problem and came across similar people with traiblazers had the same problems, either the vehicle was in motion and caught on fire or in park unattended. nothing was spilt before the incident happened, just happenend while i was at work .

Got into my 2006 trailblazer one morning and could smell burning. saw brown burn marks around the window and lock device on the driver side door. no components worked so i could not roll down the window, or work the mirrors. when the window/lock compartment was taken out it was melted from the bottom up like it had caught fire. burn marks on the outside as well as the inside of where the device goes. called gm regarding incident they stated that i could pay a service fee and take it to one of their dealers and if they thought the incident was caused by something they did they would fix it, but if they thought that it wasn't caused by them not only would i pay the service fee but i would also have to pay for the part and the labor at the dealer. asked them if they had notified the correct authorities regarding the safety of driver side window/lock control catching fire. they stated that they did. advised them that this is unsafe and that they should not treat their customers like this and i would be taking it to the next level because i do not have $75.00 for the service fee and another $350.00 for the part, plus labor if they decide this is not their fault. i now have left the melted part out of my car terrified that if i put it back in that it will continue to burn and catch a huge fire while im driving with my children in the car.

Very hard, shocking 2-1 (maybe 3-2?) downshift after long drive as in 2-3 hours or under heavy load. such a hard brutal shift can lead to an accident. this is a very serious situation and it feels like you have hit something solid like another car. it is hard enough to completely jar occupants and dislodge glasses off of your face. you immediately lose about 5 mph. feels like it could cause complete transmission failure. it is very difficult to recreate this failure and it is so scary that you would not want to do it again.

The driver and passenger side began to go up and down without me toughing it. the driver side mirror also would not function. i was told that it was the master power switch that needed to be replaced. again i had to pay out of pocket for something that gm should cover. i just want gm to own up to this defect and offer reinbursement for this repair.

As many of the other complaints my 2006 trailblazer is having a fuel tank sending unit problem, the fuel gauge will read empty then shoot up to half full, i was told that the repair will cost approx 600. to 700.00 which i can't afford . i don't believe it's time to force gm to step up to the plate and issue a recall seeing that so many others are having the same problem.

I recently heard about problems with the model year 2006 chevy trailblazer master control window switch in the driver side door. last week, on march 4th, my driver side controls completely went out-- no window, lock, heated seat, or mirror control/functionality. it's clearly the same problem everyone else has been having, and now i'm concerned that the unit has shorted out and may cause a fire similar to what others have experienced. i do not want to have the control unit replaced with the same part number, as i'm concerned the new unit will be subject to the same issues.

While drivibg down the road the headlights will start flickering the tracting control lights will come on it the dash and all of the buttons on the drivers door will stop working and the rear heater will only work when it wants too the power light on the rear heater will not even come on then your driving along and it will light up and start working the only way to get the buttons on the door to work again and the lights in the dash to go off is to pull over and shut the truck off and then restart it up again but you may be doing this again with in the hour if still driving and if you don't look for those lights on in the dash you could be in trouble cause if they stay on long enough you will go to stop and the brake paddle will go to the floor and you won't stop but if you quickly hit the brake again it stops the truck is extremely dangerous to drive anymore it scares me every time i get in it i think there should be a recall on these trucks from what i have seen online alot of people are having the same problems and if i hit someone because of this thing i will sue gm for making junk

The gas gauge on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer began to show an empty tank when i filled up, after driving about 50 miles the gauge would properly show the amount of gas i had in the tank until the next fill up. the problem has gotten worse and i have read that other trailblazer owners are having the same problem. the defect seems to be common, expensive to repair, and should be the responsibility of chevrolet.

Fuel sending unit began sending intermittent false readings, resulting in running out of gas mid-intersection, while on freeways where the loss of speed might result in an obstruction of traffic, in mid-acceleration where the loss of acceleration might result in an immediate danger to the occupants and surrounding vehicles, or while driving while gauge indicator indicated the availability of fuel within the system to perform combustion.

My fuel indicator has all sorts of mis-readings. examples: reads empty with low fuel light on when just filled, begins to read somewhere near 3/4 at a mileage point, (50), that it usually reads full. very annoying and distracting to driver. distracts the drivers attention to driving. dangereous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2006 trailblazer had issues with the 2-wheel drive/4-wheel drive actuator and sensor. i had the sensor replace under warrenty because the indicator light on the actuator handle was in a different range than what the knob indicated. after replacement, the truck indicator light would occasionally change while driving. there were no warning lights lights indcating that there was an issue with the power train system. the transfer case eventually burned up due to continuous swithing between high and low hears while driving. the truck lost power while driving at 65 miles an hour in mountainous and snowy conditions. the tansfer case, and sensor and actuator were all paid my the car owner.

While driving our gas gauge went down to empty even though we had a full tank. this posed a safety hazard as we were then unable to determine how much gas we actually had. it seems the fuel gauge is faulty. this could lead to running out of gas while driving causeing a potential accident.

Tried to turn on the air conditioning and discovered the fan did not work. after quite a bit of research and an expensive diagnosis, was informed the blower motor resistor was burned out. this appears to be a common, frequent, and expensive problem if done by the dealership. there are several potential hazards to families and children which include; the possibility of fire caused my the heated & melted wire, loss of air conditioning in the heat of the day which may cause heat stroke or worse, and loss of heat during the winter months making it impossible to drive safely without the windows icing over and inhibiting vision. a recall in order to repair the problems with the blower motor resistor is necessary.

Fuel gauge began to show incorrect and erratic levels. it now shows that the tank is alway empty and puts on the service engine soon light every time i fill the tank all the way up. i have been told by the dealer that is needs a new fuel level sending unit at a cost of nearly $600.

There was a burning smell in the car and then the high setting on the air fan speed stopped working. then about a month later the second to highest speed stopped working also. i opened my glove when my wife was driving and then the highest setting started working again, then stopped working a few minutes later. i looked in the dash behind the glove box and found that there was a connector for the fan motor controller was heating up and started melting. i checked the connection and inside the connector was burnt and blackened. i contacted general motors about my 2006 chevrolet trailblaizer. they setup a appointment at the nearest chevrolet dealer and had it checked. they found that the fan motor connector was bad and that the fan motor controller was bad also, they contacted general motors and told them it wasn't a defect and it was not a safety hazard. i cannot believe that the connector almost catching fire is not a fire hazzard or a defect. they wanted to replace the connector and the motor controller. i denied the service because they wanted to charge me $365.00 to do so. when i found the parts elsewhere for $75.00 and im going to do the repairs myself. i have pictures of the burnt connetor and fan motor controller. i will be repairing the issue once the parts are delivered. i am also expiriencing the fuel level problem also , the fuel guage says its empty when i fill it up.

When i filled my car up it would suddenly show it was empty & a check engine icon showed up & yellow low on gas warning light started dinging last fall 2010. when i drove approx 25 to 30 miles it would register gas normally & engine light would go away. i fill up every 2- 3 weeks normally. then this past february it went haywire & when i fill up it goes to the empty side, engine icon shows up & low on gas light dings & it never registers correctly at all, the gas hand is all over and i have been having to use the mileage gauge to even know how much i might have. it low gas warning will star dinging & i am driving down the road or interstate for no reason & startle me. it has caused me to suddenly jerk the steering wheel because i am startled & that is dangerous in itself. our family has been owned gm cars from the mid 1990's on and this has caused a very unsafe feeling for me. i have children & grandchildren with me and i feel very unsafe for the 1st time in this vehicle i am so nervous just driving to work & back & my eyes are constantly monitoring the panel when i need to keep focused on my drive. i am so concerned that since the gas gages are so wrong what would just keep it from sensing there is no gas and suddenly stop! i would hate for it to take a death to push this problem to be a recall. i am also a consumers report panelist and this will be on their report this year for sure. i have dealt with the noise issues as you drive & small things that happen as time goes on, but this is definitely an issue for recall. i need a safe vehicle and to trade is not the answer yet as i would not be honest in something else buying this car and maybe losing their life please i beg listen to the notices you have received concerning this, these are real as i have sensed myself in their concerns & complaints.

The fuel sending unit on my trailbalzer has failed and i have run out of gas several times causing dangerous situations. i have had to call aaa several times. the repair job will cost about $800 and i cannot afford to do it. the gas tank must be pulled down and the entire fuel pump/sending unit must be replaced by a mechanic. it is a dangerous job. i think general motors should issue a recall and repair free to the owners i know of several others running with the same condition. it will not pass new york state inspection with this condition...thank you.

The fuel light stays on empty even when the car is full. you can never know how much gas is in the car. the check engine light comes on. it goes off when the car is full for about one day, then comes back on again until you fill the car up again. there is a problem with the sensor and it costs approximately $800 to have it repaired. this is a problem in chevy trailblazers as everyone that i have spoken with that has a trailblazer has this problem. i even know a couple that has a 1999 trailblazer with the same problem. the dealer refuses to fix the problem because there has not been a recall.

In september 2010 i started having problems with my 2006 chevy trailblazer with the windshield wipers going all of the time . the only way i can get them to shut off or turn them back on is to take the fuse out. this is so inconvient because the fuse box is located in the backseat on the passengers side . i have to lift the seat up and remove two boxes and put in the fuse and to remove it i have to use pliers to get it out.... also my low fuel light stays on even when i have a full tank of gas so i am constantly at the gas station getting gas so that i am aways sure to have gas in my vehicle. the dealership wants to put the vehicle on diagnostic for $99 which does not go towards the cost of repairs which i can not afford because i am unemployed.. i have taken the vehicle back to the dealership i purchased it from and they indicate that it is no longer under warranty and there is nothing they can do but repair it and maybe give me 10% off of my repairs since i purchased it from them...... i see where u have many complaints on this same year and make and model.. do u have any suggestions on what can be done on this?

The fan on my trailblazer quit working on my a/c completely. took to the dealer & it started working again without any repair. then fan setting #5 quit working & i took to dealer again. they stated it was the blower motor resistor. picked up from dealer without replacing anything & then fan quit working all together. replaced blower motor resistor & it still didn't work. wiggled the 7-wire wiring harness & it began to work. waiting til it fails completely to replace. there have been many trailblazers that have had this exact problem. according to the reports, my harness will melt & then i will have to replace it and/or eventually wiggling it will not work, not to mention its very inconvenient to get into that area of the car on a regular basis!!!

While driving at night, the low beam headlights stopped working without notice. stopped at next convenience store, checked all fuses and all were good. started ignition and lights still did not work. checked high beam headlights and they worked. followed up with mechanic the following morning. could not diagnose problem and referred to a local dealer. dealer diagnosed problem as being a faulty bcm. bcm was replaced. approx. 8 weeks later, same problem w/low beam lights not working. dealer replaced relay. now low beams work, check engine light has come on and fuel gauge has stopped working.

2006 chevy trail blazer with approximately 75000 miles on it. about a year ago the vehicle died on me while at a stop sign. all the icons in the dash board lit up and engine alarms went off before it died. i tried to restart, but nothing happened. also the key locked in the ignition. a good samaritan gave me a jump start and i made my way home. i drove it to the dealership and they replaced the ignition switch. a month has gone by and the problem started all over again. this time, i turned the key in the ignition and nothing happened. 5 seconds later on it's own the vehicle cranked over as i was about to step out of the car. i continued driving the vehicle for another week with no problems. this week is another story, it started all over again. i have read blogs online with many chevy trailblazer owners having the same problems. as of right now my vehicle is at the dealership for the third time this year. all they can say is that i have a dead cell in my battery. of course a month ago, they said my battery was good. my brother inlaw also owns a chevy trailblazer and has the same problem. can someone please investigate i'm running out patients and money. not to mention a safety issue being stranded on the side of the highway.

Gas guage on 2006 chevrolet trailblazer when started shows correct fuel level. after several miles of driving guage drops to zero and warning light and chime is activated. guage shows correctly each time engine is started. dealer said many complaints of this type, but not covered by warrenty. it is a bad sending unit in the fuel pump. gas tank needs to be dropped and parts replacced at a cost of $800.00.

2006 chevrolet trailblazer fuel level sensor hasn't worked since about 28,000 miles, now has about 80,000 miles on vehicle. thousands upon thousands of 2006 trailblazers have had the same problem which chevrolet (gm) knows about but won't put out a recall service bulletin to replace this defaulted part. here the taxpayers bailed gm out , but they won't take care of this hugh problem where an opperator of this vehicle could run out of fuel at any time not knowing how much fuel is in the tank because it reads empty all of the time with the low fuel light on as well. we as taxpayers can bail them out, but they wo'n take car of a problem that could result in deaths when a vehicle runs out of fuel at the wrong time, and in the wrong place. is this what is needed before gm takes care of this problem? this seems to be the case. also with this problem it sends signals that won't allow the vehicle to pass ny state vehicle inspection when there is nothing else wrong with the vehicle.

In my 2006 chevy trailblazer, the gas sensor does not work and caused the check engine light to come on intermittently as well as causing the fuel gauge to remain on empty regardless of the actual fuel level. i have had the car diagnosed and was informed that it was the sensor in the gas tank and the repair would cost me $500 to replace a part that would ultimately fail again. gm has refused to cover partial expenses of this repair even though they are aware of said problem. i first notified gm on 6/23/2009 and they have yet to issue a recall. there is currently an open investigation :action number dp10001. *tr

I have had numerous problems out of my 2006 chevy trailblazer, but all have been covered under warranty up until this point. i purchased my vehicle new with 18 miles on it. it is currently at 42k and i am just outside of my warranty. i filled my car up twice this week and the fuel gauge showed full as i left the gas station. by the time i got home ( approx 1 mile away ) the low fuel indicator turned on. i took my car to the dealership and they indicated that my fuel gauge censor has gone. i took it to the dealership and they refuse to repair it free. the cost is $457.00. unfortunately it costs me about that much a month to keep the sucker gassed up so i cannot afford to 'give' gm any more of my money. i am driving it as it is and searching for a cheaper route to repair my vehicle. i have to children that i have to transport around and i am terrified that i will run out of gas. this is such an extreme and unnecessary stress. please help. *tr

I have had many many problems with my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer most recently the transmission is bad, i had started complaining to the dealer about the transmission slipping at around 8,000 miles, the truck now has 17,000 miles on it. the dealer refuses to repair it under my warranty. the dealer will not cover the repair. the dealer told me i had to pay out of pocket. i was informed of this on 5/4/2007. i have had many many repairs done on this vehicle, something is not right. the dealer also refuses to fix the brakes, the dealer claimed to have repaired them 3,000 miles ago and told me that it is not possible for the brakes to be bad again, the dealer said i need rotors, pads, and they did replace a lt ft caliper that they found to be bad. the dealer will not replace the pads and rotors. the dealer has told me to pick my vehicle up. the vehicle is currently not in safe condition to operate on public highway, i informed the dealer that i will leave the truck there while i contact nhtsa and whoever else i find that will help me. if the dealer insist that i remove my vehicle, i will have it towed, i will not operate the vehicle on public highways, as it is not safe. i will now list some of the items most recently replaced. also, abs , check engine, and service 4wd lite was on and off since january 2007. the gas gauge malfunctioned. the instrument panel was replaced twice, also replaced the radio, front heater, rear heater, dvd player, both upper ball joints, brakes, ft wheel bearing, lt ft door control, ft calipers, some kind of bearing in the steering wheel. the front suspension still makes noise, rattles (the dealer cannot find the problem) there is more but this is what i remember right now without looking it up. the dealer also told me that it is not possible for so many things to be wrong and has accused me of changing parts over from another trailblazer. *tr

We have had two 2006 trailblazers and both of them have been nothing but problems for us. the first one we brought we owned it for six months and we had it in the shop six times (broken sway bar, heater two times, windshield wiper fluid holder two times, shaky front wheel and motor misfiring. we traded in hopefully to avoid more problems and went ahead after assurance that this one must just be bad and got another 2006 trailblazer. this one we have only had for 2 months and we're already having problems. three days after we bought it had to go to the shop for the radio not working properly. then the engine starting misfiring and the engine light was on and it was running really rough. the tech thought that it was happening because the gas cap wasn't all the way tightened. (when the engine light comes on you loose power and i pulled out in front of a car on the highway and barley moved that's how i found that out.) when he called me back he said that i had two cracked sparks plugs and the battery cable was loose making it start slowly. that was fixed but then 5-27-07 the engine light came on again and it was running rough just like before. it seems like everytime that the engine gets wet that it makes it misfire. i told the dealership this several times now. it had been raining that day. everytime i take it in for the engine they tell me there is a lot of moisture under the hood on the motor. it's in the shop right now. *tr
