The middle of march 2011 i smelt something burning. i did not see smoke. my drivers side window and control panel stopped working properly. there are several different things that have occured over the past year. drivers window sometimes won't roll down at all. sometimes it will roll 1/4 and stop, sometimes it will roll all the way down. when rolling back up i have to make 1000 clicks to to get back up. remote keyless will not lock or unlock drivers side door. mirrors can not be adjusted. currently all 4 windows will roll down from drivers side control, but will immediately roll back up without pressing the up button. other 3 windows will roll down from each door but will also automaticlly roll up without being prompted to. it's almost as if the up button is being held down constantly. my concern is that i have a child who's hand or fingers could get caught without warning, and not knowing if the windows will roll back down is concerning. i am unable to lock the other windows from being controlled by other passengers. i have checked all fuses and so far they are okay. i have taken the panel apart thinking that the connections were dirty and not making a good connections and that did not help.

I recently contact the wisconsin dept. of consumer protection in regard to my 2006 chevy trailblazer. when i purchased the vehicle i did not notice this, now obvious, engineering defect. i am @ 6'2 tall. several months after the purchase of the 2006 trailblazer i was almost in a near collision. i simply did not see a car at a stop sign on my right because the rearview mirror had completely blocked my vision of the vehicle before me. i then tried to adjust my seat to bring me down lower so that i could have a full panoramic view of the front windshield. the seat would not adjust to accommodate a full panoramic view of the front windshield. i have had other close calls due to this condition. i finally decided to contact the wisconsin dept. of consumer protection whose intervention precipitated a representative from gm to contact me. this representative has been telling me that there have been no complaints or accidents attributed to this sort of condition. this representative also stated that the 2006 trailblazer meets all nhtsa standards. this is my question to the nhtsa. does the nhtsa allow a vehicle to be mass produced and disseminated on all of the us roads and highways that does not allow the drivers (over 6-foot tall) to have a full panoramic view of the traffic through the front windshield? i would appreciate a response to this communiqu

I have a 2006 trailblazer and a few weeks ago my driver side control panel stopped working. could not use my remote to open the door and was unable to put any windows down. i thought there was a short in the wires somewhere because the next day the panel worked. now, two weeks later i stopped at the store and was getting out of the car and again i could not lock my doors using the button on the control panel. i left the door unlocked and when i came out (within minutes) my door window had gone down on its own while i was in the store. when i got into the car, my daughter and i could smell something burning. she immediately made me go to the garage and have her mechanic check it out. he was able to remove the panel and showed us where the plastic part that goes inside the handle had melted and could have caused a fire in the car. he called around to try and find a replacement part and was finally able to find one and was quoted over $300 for just the part!! then, i had to set up an appointment with the dealer to have it installed because it has to be programmed to my car and i was quoted about $103 for installation!!!! i can not believe this problem has not been listed as a recall after reading all the complaints with the same problem. i plan on getting a phone number from the dealer for the gm corporate office to file an automotive complaint tomorrow. i hope to be reimbursed for this part and the labor charge. this sounds like a serious safety issue to me and thank goodness my car did not start on fire while i was driving. read more: http://wot.motortrend.com/nhtsa-opens-investigation-on-2006-2007-chevy-trailblazers-for-power-window-switch-issues-169431.html#ixzz26rrcv9ed. *tr

While on vacation in ny i went to move my trailblazer to be able to pack up for the trip home and when moving it i noticed a strong smell of electrical fire and noticed smoke coming from the area around the drivers door master window switch. i quickly turned the truck off and pulled the switch plate out of the door but it was to late. the damage had already been done. the switch had shorted and melted all of the ribbon cable in the switch and rendered it inoperable. there was a slight misty rain when all of this occurred, i am just glad it happened in the driveway and not on the highway. i called and talked with chevy and they told me there was no recall for this and there was nothing they could do to help and then stated that it was vin specific. so which is it no recall or vin specific? *tr

The drivers side window control panel would not work for any of the windows. the vehicle was not running. i checked the fuse and found it to be blown. i replaced it with the exact same size and type of fuse. then i tried to roll up the drivers side window. the door window control panel switch then began to smoke and there was the smell of burning electronics and plastic. i took it to the dealership and was told the control panel and regulator had fried and would need to be completely replaced. *tr

Our trailblazer has the service engine light on and off constantly. had it checked by our regular mechanic with the tester and it read the thermostat needed replacing which was done. the light is still going on and off and having it rechecked the reading said a problem with the cooling fan. checked fan and nothing. the headlights go on and off. the windshield wipers come on by themselves and then off. when it is raining they only work on fast speed. the window cleaner comes on when the wipers due which is hazardous when it is raining causing a visibility problem. i will be going to the dealer with the check engine light as we are going on a long trip in two weeks. didn't know there were so many problems with this vehicle as listed on the complaints section. *tr
