 The office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation on february 9, 2012 in response to complaints alleging driver door module melting and/or burning in my 2006-2007 chevrolet trailblazers. in response to odi's information request letter, general motors presented 167 reports and 698 warranty claims that related to the alleged problem. odi has received a total of 83 complaints, 66 alleging the door module had melted or burned, and the remaining 17 stating that the window switches acted erratically or were inoperative. twenty-eight of the reports received have led to driver door fires, some of which allege the vehicle was keyed off and unattended. based on the agency's current analysis, odi has upgraded its investigation to an engineering analysis (ea12-004) to determine whether the subject vehicles contain a defect that presents an unreasonable risk to safety.the vehicle models and production dates of affected vehicles will be evaluated, particularly other gmt360 vehicles. the odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints under the following identification (odi) numbers: 10247838, 10260600, 10274337, 10275626, 10284010, 10396958, 10406203, 10409023, 10414691, 10417938, 10423865, 10426281, 10434446, 10445657, 10447754, 10447757, 10447770, 10447788, 10447813, 10447831, 10447865, 10447880, 10447892, 10447938, 10447994, 10447996, 10447997, 10448028, 10448086, 10448138, 10448176, 10448201, 10448337, 10448455, 10448464, 10448478, 10448540, 10448900, 10448941, 10449150, 10449166, 10449169, 10449236, 10449722, 10450055, 10450202, 10450284, 10451584, 10451878, 10451918, 10452197, 10452301, 10452586, 10452743, 10452895, 10453161, 10453227, 10453261, 10453578, 10453746, 10453951, 10454196, 10454211, 10454539, 10454673, 10455122, 10455150, 10455279, 10455469, 10456285, 10456529, 10457116, 10457644, 10457811, 10458224, 10458485, 10458599, 10458743, 10458846, 10460062, 10460141, 10460732, 10460843

My fuel gauge meter doesn't work. when ever i start the car, the fuel meter drops to empty. also, one day in summer of 2011, my driver-side power module just stopped working. the power windows and locks no longer work from my driver-side door. i am concerned i will run out of gas on the interstate or highway and cause a wreck. i also can not see in the mornings from my window because it get's foggy and there is no way to roll my window down. this is a serious safety hazard.

My windshield cracked while driving....no impact, no stone, no thud. just a crack developing across the windshield. i wirite this because the other day i stopped at a dunkin donuts and just happened to park next to another trailblazer. while i was in the store, a third trailblazer pulled in next to me. when i left the store i saw that all three trailblzers had cracked windshields in virtually the same place???? i also own a 2006 chevy cobalt....and guess what.......cracked windshield this fall just driving down a street. i think chevrolet windsheilds need to be investigated for the quality of glass/material that they are using. thank you.

Pushed to put passenger window down and would not go up, stuck open. evidently the window regulator broke at a part cost of about 300.00. just had in for a blower problem where the blower came on while the car was just sitting in the garage with no keys or anyone in it. that was 400.00 some dollars. this car does not seem like it should be having these problems. *tr

I had gone to a friends house and on the way home my power steering malfunctioned. i took the vehicle to a local auto repair shop and was told the power steering cooler had rusted through. i also had to replace this part on my 2003 trailblazer not realizing there was a problem. if this part rusts out on different years of the same model there seems to be a problem. the vehicle became very hard to steer. i know for a fact that i and many other people have had problems with transmission lines gasoline lines and power steering lines. i had to replace the gasoline line and fuel pump on the 2003 , and just replaced transmission line on the 2007. i think there needs to be an engineering change on these vehicles. i also received a recall notice on the 2007 trailblazer for the electric window switch. the notice said i would be notified when to bring my vehicle in. it has been several months since i received the notice and i am still waiting for notification. it cost me $350.00 to have the power steering repaired.. *tr

Drivers side window and lock control panel does not work. control panel for side mirrors does work. i cannot lock my doors from the drivers side or roll up/down any windows in my vehicle from the drivers side .. the passenger side window and lock control panel works, rear drivers side window control panel works, and rear passenger side window control panel works. i have had the fuses checked and they are all fine. i have a child and liked to keep my back windows locked for the safety of my child, now that my control panel does not work i cannot lock my windows when needed for the safety of my child. i do not have any control over the locks or windows from the drivers door. my keyless entry will unlock all passenger doors and rear hatch, but i have to manually lock the drivers door when exiting my vehicle and use my key to manually unlock the drivers door to get into my vehicle. i see many complaints about this being an issue with this make and model chevy. not just the complaints and issues with this problem, how about the safety of our kids having control over their windows and locks????? when the driver should have control over window, locks ect.......per law the driver is responsible for everyone in any vehicle....how can the driver of these vehicles with this ongoing problem be in control of the locks and windows if they do not work???? this could cause minor to fatal injuries with small children including adults. this needs to be a recall on gm! *tr

Hi, the windows in my trailblazer won't open. then open sometimes but then close themselves. i can hear crackling inside the driver side door and the power is also surging throughout my truck, i then hear clicking. i am in canada, not montana, but there is a usa recall on a door module that i think is the problem. i am writing you because it wasn't disclosed to me at the time of my purchase, but my truck was bought used in the usa, brought into canada by a dealer, it was apparently a rental at one time, and it was sold to me by southpark used lot in edmonton, ab in late 2007. this is the used car lot for don wheaton chevy/olds, it had approximately 18,000km on it. i found out it was a rental from a chevy salesman about 3-4 years later when i went to see about trading it in. i have had many problems with this truck and it has not been the reliable vehicle i needed with kids but i have been forced to deal with it not able to afford another. i actually bough a second car 2 years ago for $550, it's a 87 thunderbird coup lx and i have had to use this car many many times because the truck isn't working half the time and it costs me piles and piles of money, it's very stressful. i am a single parent and doing my best like everyone else just to get by. i am not asking for anything special here. i have had to pay a lot to keep this truck on the road already, i have had many issues that the chevy dealer would not fix because they say they can't recreate the issues and yet i take it to a non dealer mechanic and they find the issues just fine and this is wrong because i had full warranty to pay it all. please see recall: 12180 established this year, i would be very grateful if someone could help. we are in full swing of winter here and i need to have functioning windows and do not want to catch fire especially with someone else with me, children or grandma, please. *tr

The power locks & windows control sometimes does not wanna work on the drivers side. the lights on the that buttons on the driver door panel are not on at when this happens. usually you can turn the car off then back on and it will work again. i have a feeling there is some sort of shortage. *tr

My husband was driving with the whole family in the car, it was raining that morning and only a minute into our drive, the drivers door window rolled down by itself...he pushed the switch for the window to go back up..the window went back up and not even 30seconds later it rolled down again on its own...at about the same time smoke started billowing out of the drivers door, the smoke filled the car, it smelled like an electrical fire. we were only a block from home so we took the car home, pulled the interior from the door where we discovered the switches that control the locks, windows, and side mirrors were all melted and still smoking...we disconnected all the switches and are without use of any drivers door electrical switches. *tr

The power window switch in the drivers side door was melting and extremely hot to the touch. the switch burned out and we had to remove it to prevent a potential fire. i telephoned gm about it as there had been a recall on my year and model of car but i was told my car didn't fall into the recall. clearly i have the same issue that was reported by others and this has been an issue with that switch since i owned the vehicle. it would stop working then come back on. i took it to them once before but the switch was working so they said there was no issue. *tr

On vacation with my family last summer the windows upon entering the vehicle started to go up and down all by themselves. it almost caught my sons arm inside of it. after a few minutes the windows stopped and remained down. we couldn't get them to go back up for a few hours and had to leave them down overnight. the next morning my husband went out, turned the key, pushed the buttons and they all went back up.he told us not to touch the windows just in case weren't able to get them back up. once we returned from vacation i took it to a suggested mechanic as per my warranty company. they diagnosed it as the master window switch, the gentlemen told me that they are about 2-3 hundred dollars and are not covered under warranty, imagine that!well i paid the gentlemen for his time and have been without windows for over a year now because i make my 500 payment every month and do not have the extra money not only for the part but then for labor and to have it programed by an authorized dealer.now i see that this is a common problem with this year trailblazer, are we waiting for someone to die before we issue a recall? i sent an email to gm about it and they did contact me, what they said is to once again have it diagnosed at an authorized gm dealer (ok more $) then they would look at the report and if they ok it i would then be reimbursed for everything (ok good one) i just had it diagnosed and still have the report but i need to get another one, come on people i dont make your salary and have 2 kids to support! . so i took it, well when i talked to the gm dealer they said just to look at it will be about 100 so i cancelled the appointment. that is very sad that gm would knowingly let this go on with out offering to fix the problem. i will never buy another gm motors vehicle in my life, sad to say that i will be buying not made in the usa vehicles from here on out. ## vin passed ## chevy trailblazer 2007 ## *tr

While driving at 45 mph (foot not on the gas, going downhill) the vehicle lost all power. was approaching a stoplight and braked to stop. after truck came to full stop due to me braking for light anyhow, brake pedal became hard, unable to push down or pump. stopped at traffic light not knowing what happened since gas tank was full, i shut key (truck) off, and on waited till light turned green, it restarted on the first attempt thank goodness. why the complete powerfailure while driving at 45 mph, i have heard this could be onstar related, even though i am not signed up as a customer, if a trailblazer 07 is stolen or in an accident, i heard the onstar features confusion w/ satellite and causes them all to shut down. don't know if this is true, but something went way wrong, luckily no one was hurt or i'd be suing bigtime. today is 10-12-12, yesterday got a recall notice in the mail for door/windows/locks problem. they will fix for free however no parts to replace are currently available, really??? wow.
