The office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation on february 9, 2012 in response to complaints alleging driver door module melting and/or burning in my 2006-2007 chevrolet trailblazers. in response to odi's information request letter, general motors presented 167 reports and 698 warranty claims that related to the alleged problem. odi has received a total of 83 complaints, 66 alleging the door module had melted or burned, and the remaining 17 stating that the window switches acted erratically or were inoperative. twenty-eight of the reports received have led to driver door fires, some of which allege the vehicle was keyed off and unattended. based on the agency's current analysis, odi has upgraded its investigation to an engineering analysis (ea12-004) to determine whether the subject vehicles contain a defect that presents an unreasonable risk to safety.the vehicle models and production dates of affected vehicles will be evaluated, particularly other gmt360 vehicles. the odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints under the following identification (odi) numbers: 10247838, 10260600, 10274337, 10275626, 10284010, 10396958, 10406203, 10409023, 10414691, 10417938, 10423865, 10426281, 10434446, 10445657, 10447754, 10447757, 10447770, 10447788, 10447813, 10447831, 10447865, 10447880, 10447892, 10447938, 10447994, 10447996, 10447997, 10448028, 10448086, 10448138, 10448176, 10448201, 10448337, 10448455, 10448464, 10448478, 10448540, 10448900, 10448941, 10449150, 10449166, 10449169, 10449236, 10449722, 10450055, 10450202, 10450284, 10451584, 10451878, 10451918, 10452197, 10452301, 10452586, 10452743, 10452895, 10453161, 10453227, 10453261, 10453578, 10453746, 10453951, 10454196, 10454211, 10454539, 10454673, 10455122, 10455150, 10455279, 10455469, 10456285, 10456529, 10457116, 10457644, 10457811, 10458224, 10458485, 10458599, 10458743, 10458846, 10460062, 10460141, 10460732, 10460843

Failure of the passenger side window while driving in frigid weather. almost causing a major accident. contacts and phone consultations with gm customer service and their regional representative for albuquerque, new mexico led nowhere. gm's regional rep--named eileen, tel. 866-790-5700 ext 41068--was unconcerned about this chronic, documented safety hazard on the trailblazer. power window and other electrical failures are known to be common to the trailblazer. gm at first suggested they may pick up part of the repair costs, then refused despite acknowledging that this was a common problem with this vehicle. they are unconcerned about my wife being put in severe danger while driving on the highway on a frigid night. we have had multiple electrical failures common to this unsafe vehicle.

Fuel guage started malfunctioning sporadically. would drop to empty for a while then come back up after driving a distance. now guage is always on empty and cel always on with code p0463.(fuel level sensor circut high voltage) this seems to be a known problem with this gm platform. i am keeping track of miles per tank and refilling at 200 miles but the cel worries me because i don't know if there may be another, more serious, issue with the vehicle.

(1) purchased a new 2007 chevrolet trailblazer on nov. 30,2006. less that 1200 miles on it before wife took it on the interstate. (2) two light came on control panel and the vehicle went out of control. she had extreme difficulty regaining control of the steering and braking. after turning off the ignition and restarting the vehicle and the lights went off. on her return trip home it again did the same thing, however, she only drove about 40 mph until she could get home. (3)vehicle taken to chevrolet service and diagnosed that there is two faulty circuits. codes in system c0455, open sensor and shorted ebtcm diagnose. i declined repair until i could speak with gn. (4) spoke with samantha sheared 1-866-790-5700 ext.20836 who advised to get it fixed and nothing more can be done. this is a safety issue and i am sure that ours is not the only vehicle with these faulty parts. my wife is too scared of the vehicle to drive it again, even if repaired. we are very dissatisfied with the unconcern of general motors about this issue. *jb

Tl*the contact owns 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 10-15 mph, the vehicle would not stop when he depressed the brake. as a result, he crashed into the rear of another vehicle. the manufacturer inspected the vehicle however; they were unable to duplicate the failure. approximately 30 minutes after they inspected the vehicle the contact stated that multiple lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the dealer stated that the traction control cylinder, ignition coil, and a defective head cylinder caused the failure. the dealer made the repairs however approximately 24 hours later the vehicle overheated. the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. they stated that the engine was low on coolant and they stated the engine needed to be burped. the failure mileage was 27,000 and current mileage was 42,994. |
