The office of defects investigations (odi) analyzed complaint data provided by general motors (gm) as well as complaints submitted to odi from consumers.in total, there were 5,089 unique reports indicating an inaccurate fuel level reading while driving.general motors stated that this condition occurs when the contacts of the fuel sensor wear prematurely.most of the complaints indicated an empty fuel gauge reading after filling the tank.less than 10 percent of theodi complaints involved an engine stall incident.during this investigation, gm developed a remedy procedure and issued special coverage bulletin instructing dealers to install a new design fuel level sensor.the bulletin was sent to dealers on august 10, 2011 and the owner letter mailing began on august 15, 2011.see the investigative file for copies of gm's bulletin and owner letter.this preliminary evaluation is closed.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The mentioned fuel level sensor in this vehicle (and from research other earlier models) fails or wears out prematurely. the wear could cause the fuel gauge to read empty after filling the tank and cause the service engine and low fuel lights to illuminate. chevrolet has acknowledged this occurs in the vehicles but has not issued a recall to fix the problem. instead they have sent a letter of acknowledgement advising the customers to have the issue repaired and they will reimburse half the cost of the repair. not knowing when your fuel is low presents a dangerous scenario for the drivers of these vehicles. it can run out of gas while driving in a speedway / highway where lives would be at risk. chevrolet should recall all the vehicles exhibiting this problem as soon as possible and avoid future lawsuits and or criminal charges for not addressing an issue they admit is a fault in their vehicles.

The fuel level sensor is notorious for failing on these vehicles. chevy has started a campaign to pay for half the cost of the repair. while i'm sure gm thinks this is a fair offer on their behalf, it does not go far enough.this is a safety issue not an inconvenience. running out of fuel because you don't know how much is in your tank can create a very dangerous situation. gm decribes this part as a wear item. no. brake pads wear out. wiper blades wear out. batteries die. when was the last time you checked the fuel level sensor in your gas tank? what's going on with this particular part is called failure. this needs to be a recall by gm

Fuel guage started malfunctioning sporadically. would drop to empty for a while then come back up after driving a distance. now guage is always on empty and cel always on with code p0463.(fuel level sensor circut high voltage) this seems to be a known problem with this gm platform. i am keeping track of miles per tank and refilling at 200 miles but the cel worries me because i don't know if there may be another, more serious, issue with the vehicle.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. while the contact was driving various speeds, he noticed the fuel gauge would register an inaccurate reading. the failure occurred sporadic and progressed to a constant failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the defect. the failure mileage was approximately 34,000. js

I have a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer ls. we bought it with 13 miles on it when the first full tank of gas was gone we only put on 235 miles to the tank. that wasn't even a week. we have had 2 tires replaced because of excess wear with only 6,000 miles on it. now we are working on the 2 other tires getting replaced because of the same thing. the windshield washer fluid would take a long time to come out. we hear a noise coming from the front right tire and at the same time we feel it in the pedals. the seals on the windows are coming off. there is no drivers side cover on the mirror on the sun shade. there is no door ajar ding or light that will come on when you open the door only just for the hatch. i have had my trailblazer in for service 3 times in 1 year for all the same things and everytime they say there is nothing wrong with it except for the tires. with the gas mileage my dealership said i have to wait 10,000 miles before i get a better average on the miles per gallon. well it is actually i am getting less and less miles per gallon than i did a year ago. the trailblazer is very slow at picking up speed. it hesitates at the start of pick up speed like the truck just stalled. i feel it in the pedal. the brakes have problems when it comes to stopping its like the brakes don't want to stop the truck. these problems are making me very upset. i have complained to 2 dealerships and both times they say oh there is nothing wrong with the truck. i need these problems fixed. so i will take any advice you can give on what i can do. *tr
