While driving the exterior and interior lights will dim and/or flicker. voltage does not stay consistent. when stopping the radio will blink off, and the cd changer will make ejecting noises like a tape player. if any accessories are actually plugged in you will get static and electrical whining from the speakers. vehicle will give hard start issues after experiencing the light dim and flicker issue. i have already had all the plugs and wires replaced at the dealership for these issues.

This 2005 chevy uplander has had electrical problems since i took it off the showroom floor, from all lights flashing interior dash and exterior as well. fuel system lights as well as just about every other failure warnings inside this vehicle, to no fuel just after fill up, to service abs system and door opens on and off since i owned it, every time i brought it in for service they told me that it needs to be happening at that time otherwise they cant fix it!! just now after seeing all the complaints about this poor made piece of s..it. i had to have my head examined to buy this car off the lease i had. as the only owner of the car i know its not my lack of maintenance cause the problems, its the multi billion dollar gm should be held accountable for this. someone please help us with this issue, and bail us out just like gm has been, were just average people trying to get by.

The passenger side power sliding door does not close properly and opens on its own intermittently. also, once the door is closed the open door chime does not stop. the chime continues to go off while driving, parked and when the car is turned off with the key out of the ignition. this is obviously a safety issue. i tried contacting the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and explained to them the safety hazard defect but was told that they will not fix the problem unless i paid for it. after doing further research, i have found that this is a very common problem for all gm mini vans especially the uplander mini vans, with power sliding doors. however, since there hasn't been an official safety recall, dealerships will not fix the problem without payment. again this is a safety problem and a recall should be issued.

Purchased 2005 chevy uplander april 2010. not even a month or less having it had to replace voltage regulator/alternator/radio/starter. the lights would dim, flicker, wouldn't start. now one year later the same problem as return and this time it cut off going down the road. it wont start sometimes and the voltage reader goes up and down. it is the same problem occurring. this is very unsafe to be doing this and you should have not to replace the same parts every year!

We have had 3 chevy uplander vans recently and the power doors like to come open on their own when you are driving at various speeds. this is very dangerous if you have children. the door chime also keeps dinging and making noise even when the door is closed.

The lights (interior and exterior) will flicker in my 2005 chevrolet uplander. it has become an unsafe situation as oncoming traffic think that i am flashing my highbeams at them. i have not replaced the voltage regulator yet, but i am sure this is the problem. gm should issue a recall for this item. my car is past the warranty period (60000 miles), and gm will only repair if i pay full price and labor for this safety item. *tr

This complaint covers many components of the chevy uplander that has spanned over the three years that we have owned the van. all problems are unable to be diagnosed by dealerships and chevy refuses to help us. i have been in contact with chevy from about the second time that the van went to the shop for electrical problems. we have had electrical problems that vary from the lights flickering to the fans output changing to the radio not allowing you to program in a station on one preset button, we are also currently having an abs issue and have had a non gm mechanic look at the van and said it is ok. the passenger side auto sliding door does not always automatically open and sometimes does not close either, when you manually shut it will open by itself several times before it stays shut. we are currently and have for some time had a problem with starting the van this is also something that can't be diagnosed it has been looked at many times. the problems happens about 15-20 times a week. we did purchase the extended warranty on the van and it is now about up and i am at a loss as to what to do because nobody wants to help even though it is clear i am not the only one . please let me know if there is any other way to fight this. the drivers sliding door doesn't always unlock either unless done by hand. *tr

I purchased a 2005 uplander from a gm dealer in july 2005. i now have 32,167. i took my vehicle in for its normal oil change at 22,000 when the service department said i needed front and brakes and rotors. we replaced the brakes and rotors and my rotors need to replaced again. i also noticed a noise coming from the left front tire i was told that they did not hear the noise and everything was fine. i have taken the van in for dimming on the lights and the vehicle feeling like it is going to stall too many times to count and every time they tell me it is just the way gm vehicles run. i also have a problem with the starter i will crank it and nothing this happens at lease once a day and i have to retry at least two times before the van will start.the steering has been a big issue we have been having problems with the tightness and when i am driving i can feel the back end swaying. the vehicle is unsafe to be driving and with two small children it is extremely scary. after reading all the complaints how is this vehicle still on the road. the issues people are having are extremely dangerous. the dealership i go to has never tried to fix or replace any of the issues with my van. they also tell me its normal and they cannot find anything wrong. i am looking to replace the tires they are bald which is causing the van to hydroplane everytime it rains. the sticker on the inside panel is different from the tires. the tire goodyear intergrity p225/60r17 states 44 psi with a max load of 1653 lbs. the inside sticker states 35 psi and max load of 1330 lbs. the tire size is extremely hard to find. i have also noticed when we close the sliding doors they do not shut, the latch doesnt catch the door until you slam extremely hard. then my daughter will try to get out of the vehicle and the child lock will be on when we didn't slide it on. can someone please do something to stop this

We have had several issues with the doors not closing and have taken the vehicle in several times. the service dept. couldn't duplicate the problem. apparently gm knows about the problem because the last time we were in there they told us there was an internal service bulletin about re-routing wires and possible module replacement, all of which was done to our vehicle. it is going back in again 7-27-07 for the same problem. our uplander also has a problem of the door locks rapidly locking and unlocking at various times while driving, and all of the lights will flicker and dim. one instance while driving at night all lights went out briefly and came back on, extremely dangerous! something has to be done. we live in michigan, you'd think there wouldn't be a problem in the motor city. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated while driving the head lights and the interior lights started flickering. the first time the vehicle was taken to the dealership, it only had two hundred and thirty eight miles on it. upon inspection, the dealership determined the module computer control body needed to be replaced and the instrument panel was reprogrammed. even though repairs were made, the vehicle was still experiencing the same type of problems. when the vehicle was taken to the dealership a second time, the sensor in the running day lights and the generator assembly were replaced. after driving the vehicle for a short period of time, the head lights and interior lights began flickering again. the vehicle was taken back to the dealership however there were no repairs made. the manufacturer was alerted.

My wife had driven from our home 7 miles away to the maggie moo's ice cream shop. she went in to the store to purchase some ice cream for my kids and her mom who stayed in the vehicle which was left running because of the heat. when she returned she backed the vehicle up with no problem but when she attempted to pull forward she heard the wrongest noise emanate from the front of the vehicle she has ever heard and the vehicle jumped and bumped and came to a grinding halt. i did not think it could have been so bad as she explained to me when i arrived. so i backed the vehicle out of the parking space that she managed to get to and pulled forward. oh my god! what she had explained to me wasn't even as bad as i experienced. the stability control activation message appeared in the dash display and the antilock brakes on the driver side front wheel began to growl then screeched the vehicle to a grinding halt. i was scared. my kids were thrown around in the car since they had unbuckled their seat belts while eating their ice cream. i made them buckle up and i tried it again. the same result over and over again until i finally got to a parking space. i called chevrolet to come tow the vehicle in to repair my 2005 uplander. they called me the next day and informed me that they found no problem and that the error codes pulled from the computer showed not error ever happened. this scares the hell out of me and my wife refuses to drive the vehicle. our fear of this malfunction occurring at highway speeds could result in catastrophic results. i am in contact with gm but they are so far unwilling to admit or take any action to resolve this safety issue. i need help!!! we all need to know if there is a major problem with the stabilitrak system being deployed on these new vehicles. please take this up and open an immediate investigation. i am documenting this malfunction everywhere i can think to because no one needs to die because of a defect. *nm

We were taking vacation last december going thru the mountains and it was very foggy. you could barely see the road and we noticed the headlights and interior lights were flickering. the following week i took it to my dealership to let them fix the problem they did let me know that they were aware of a problem. they showed me a paper stating that gmac was trying to correct the problem. this was last december and it is now june and still no solution. this could cause a accident especially when you are driving in foggy weather. i really hope someone can find a the solution to the problem or i might just take the vehicle to the dealer parking lot and park it until the solution is fixed.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving in normal conditions, the electrical system does not properly work. this occurs at various speeds. while the accelerator pedal is depressed no problems are apparent. however, when the accelerator pedal is not depressed the heater blower does not blow and the exterior and interior lighting is so dim that the contact has visual problems while driving at night. the vehicle was taken to the local dealership numerous times for inspection and repairs. the dealer replaced the alternator although that did not remedy the problem. the dealer can not duplicate the problem; therefore no additional repairs were made.

I have had to jump start my 2005 chevrolet uplander several times. the car has been taken to the dealership three times (today 2-21-2008 being the third). the battery was replaced once, the radio was replaced the second time. i have not received a diagnoses to the problem today, but the vehicle would not start even with a jump from a tow truck. the only item installed after market on this vehicle was a sit and lift seat, installed by the dealership at a cost of $5000. the seat has performed without failure, other than a few times it would not operate unless the side sliding door on the opposite side of the vehicle was opened or closed, depending on it status at the time of the failure. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet uplander. the sliding door on the rear driver side would not stay latched. the contact called the dealer and manufacturer and they stated that she was responsible for having the door repaired. the vehicle has been in the shop six times now for the latch failure and the door opening on its own. each time the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer, they stated that it was repaired when it was not. when the button was pressed to close the door, it would begin to shut and an alarm would sound; however, it would not shut and flew open while driving. the instrument panel does not indicate that the door is ajar. the rear passenger side door is beginning to experience the same failure. neither the weather nor the speed were factors. the current mileage was 51,800 and failure mileage was 49,043. the dealer stated the vehicle would not start, check brake condition, and humming noise left front hub area. updated 12/12/07 *tr

The car intermittently tries to start the crank keeps turning but does not start. as well as i was traveling on freeway with a big rig on the side of me and the car stalled and steering locked. thank god i managed to glide over to the exit lane. i was terrified as was my passenger. when i looked at the gauges i noticed i was out of gas, but i had just put in $20 . chevy sent out tow truck to give me gas, but car still would not start. finally hours later car was taken to chevy. when uplander was finished they said it was electrical short due to water in lines. weather was great no rain or puddles anywhere. uplander almost stalled on another night lights dimmed and tires stopped ,but then it worked fine. strange very!!! driver side sliding door opens or shuts when it wants. my daughter was in her car seat and i pushed button to close door she put her foot up towards door and it shut and locked. luckily her tennis shoes were a little big so only minor bruising occurred. however my daughter is terrified of car. also i have already put 6 new tires on car because they were bald at 13,000 miles first time. tires in front are bald again. uplander is not stable to drive on highway. *tr

Tl* - the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet uplander. the transmission failed at 11,000 miles. the mechanic repaired it instead of replacing, it and it continued to leak. the dealer replaced the transmission, and the new one from the manufacturer was also leaking. the vehicle was in the repair shop for 16 days, and the new transmission had to be resealed. when starting the vehicle the ignition was sticking in the start mode for 2 minutes after releasing the key. the passenger automatic sliding door did not latch shut, no warning indicator light appeared nor did it register with onstar as the door was being un latched. when attempting to open the door it will not open because the latch did not engage. the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. the contact was concerned about the safety risk involved. the contact filed a complaint with the bbb, and spoken to gm about all of the failures. the gear shiftws very difficult to move from park to reverse. all of the above listed failures occurred frequently. the most recent was the door and the starter. the starter failure occurred 15 to 20 times. the gear shift failed every time the vehicle was driven. the door failed 20 times. the current and failure mileage was 13,000. *ak the engine would crank, but it wouldn't start, the drivers heated seat was inoperative, there was an oil leak from the crankshaft seal, the power sliding door was inoperative. updated 03/30/07. *jb
