While driving down the road at 40 mph in my chevy 2005 uplander van the passenger rear door opens and a continuous alarm sounds. (this door was next to my 22 month-old). previously the door would open while in park. the door has been found open in parking lots in town and in our garage. our door on several occasions has attempted to shut, but would not, then it alarms and opens back up. we have tried to manually shut the door but it would not shut either. the door also tries to shut with people in the way. my daughter went back to the van to get a toy and got her toy while i was blocking the door. the door pushed hard against me trying to close, it almost shut me in the door. the door would not reopen like it is supposed to with something being in the way. if that had been my daughter it would have shut her in the door, probably killing her. the van has been at a dealer atleast three times. each time the problem was not fixed. the problem was blamed on dirt on the contact, so the contact was cleaned. the next time the computer was blamed. this last time a switch is being replaced. i am terrified to let my kids ride in this van because i fear for their safety. please help. *tr

My daughter was crushed by the automatic door in our chevy uplander. she was getting into the vehicle and the door suddenly closed on her. luckily she only had serious bruising. it turns out that the automatic doors on the uplander are not equipped with safety features, such as a sensor that would stop the door from closing if someone was still in the doorway. my daughter is 10, what would have happened if it were a younger child? *nm

I bought a 2005 chevy uplander, already went through the bbb auto line regarding the unacceptable temperatures in the car (even after running ac on maximum for 30 min plus) of 85 degrees to 95 degrees. which are unacceptable to me and i have had a very close call with my dogs, that travel in crates in the back several times due to the heat in the car. during the arbitration hearing chevrolet (mr. nader, richmond ky) did not dispute the hot temperatures in the car, the ac is designed to never blow out colder air than 43 - 48 degrees after running for about 30 min and standing still 50+ degrees temperature, yes, the back is hotter, as the pipes for the rear ac go through the roof and the roof in the summer will get 110 to 130 degrees easily. but there is no fix for it. my question is, ky is not one of the hottest states, however, we had a hot summer and still do have 90 degrees days not, what about people traveling for several hours, someone could die in the back, as the front does not realize that the back is not working sufficiently. please check into this before someone gets hurt by this through the negligence of chevrolet. your help would be so much appreciated. *nm

I have had to jump start my 2005 chevrolet uplander several times. the car has been taken to the dealership three times (today 2-21-2008 being the third). the battery was replaced once, the radio was replaced the second time. i have not received a diagnoses to the problem today, but the vehicle would not start even with a jump from a tow truck. the only item installed after market on this vehicle was a sit and lift seat, installed by the dealership at a cost of $5000. the seat has performed without failure, other than a few times it would not operate unless the side sliding door on the opposite side of the vehicle was opened or closed, depending on it status at the time of the failure. *tr
