I bought my uplander at dealership milage was at 24,000. the door would open and not close we finally got this fixed i hope. just yesterday at milage 45,000 we had to replace tie rod on passenger side. found out that it did not have grease pin on it called manufactor and they say someone had to have replaced it. i do not believe it had ever been replaced and this is what is causing tire wear and vibrations in the uplanders which also could cause accidents even deaths. also when driving all lights will go off until you hit brakes i have had diagnotics checked to see if anything would show up. nothing does. so this is a major concern also . there seems to be the same problems listed from almost everyone and some of these things could cost consumers their life or their families. while i like the uplander i am concerned that the safety issues are not being handled by manufactor and no one seems to care. what will it take to make this vehicle safe.

This unit when steering input to the left makes a humming noise synonymous to the steering knuckle recall bulletin. when i took it to the dealer for diagnosis they asked for serial number that i provided and they stated my unit is not up for the recall and now what is my recourse?? i have spouse and 3 toddlers and commute daily at 110 km per hour for over 300 km. i am quite worried and afraid if something should fail mechanically as the noise is from the drivers side and puts us in the direct line of oncoming traffic for a potential head on collision and the dealer reps were not at all sympathetic or concerned and just brushed me off without offering an option at the very least. any help is much appreciated. thank you.

I bought my 2006 chevy uplander used with 74,000 in fall of 2011. while at an busy intersection stop sign, the traction control and stability service lights came on, then all dashboards lights came on and the van stalled. all lights (both interior and exterior) shut off and i couldn't restart vehicle. road conditions were dry and clear. after rolling onto the side of the road and letting it sit for around 5 minutes, it started and did not have any more problems. the following week, it happened again while driving on the highway. road conditions were slick and snowy and the traction control and stability lights came on, then there is a clicking sound in steering column. the van stalled, started, stalled, and started again on while i am driving down the road. i was able to turn onto a country road and shut it off (basically it died). i waited and restarted to try to get to town. it began happening again and this time i lost control and ended up in a field (luckily no injuries). after getting it out i took it to the dealership (no issues on way there) they hooked it up and there weren't any codes coming through. tech drove it over 4 days and it never happened to him. then today as i was driving into town, it happened again. the traction/stability light comes on, you hear a clicking sound in the steering column, and it begins to die/start again while continuing to drive. eventually it just dies. i will let it sit for a time and then restart it. depending on how long it sits (over an hour is better) it will either continue with issues or drive normally for upto a week before issue begins to reoccur.

Our 2006 chevy uplander first starting having problems at about 20,000 miles when our tires (continental brand that came installed on brand new vehicle from dealer) needed to be replaced due to severe cupping on all 4 tires. we were told it was an alignment issue, so we had the tires replaced and had a 4 wheel alignment. tires needed to be replaced again at 45,000 miles due to same cupping issue. again, another 4 wheel alignment was preformed. fuel sensor was reading empty on a full tank of gas and the float was replaced at 16,000 miles. now at 50,000 miles, sensor reads consistently empty again on a full tank of gas. severe rattling/vibration from under the vehicle at highway speeds that resonates from between the front driver and passenger seats. (possibly e-brake cable or heat shield?) both front and rear shocks and struts needed to be replaced at 54,000 miles. there is a severe issue concerning the steering. when turning either left or right steering has some slop. the rack and pinion need to be replaced. the electronic stability control sensor, abs sensor, and traction control sensor all illuminate at random times while normal driving is occurring.

1st the check engine light keeps coming on and when put on diagnostic code came back po463. the van wouldn't pass emissions and when you fill up with has it would say it was empty. there's a loud popping noise sounds like at axle. it does this after you stop at red lights. i was told this had to do with axle and could break and cause fatal accident, the abs light keeps coming on and the braking system scared me to death. the doors constantly chime or ding and the doors will open going down the road. i was so upset because i have to transport my elderly aunt and and two children and before i was about to pay to have all this fixed i decided to check out recall. i am so shocked that you can look this up online and they are 1000 documented complaints on all the same problems but yet no recalls. is it gonna take people getting killed to do this. im praying for something less tragic and trying to save these precious lives. there is research and lawsuits that the chevrolet uplanders have alot of these problems from 2005 to 2008 especially with the doors and like me everyone gets annoyed and unplugs them and have to use them manually but why should we when are still paying for automatic doors. this van is truly unsafe and a lemon. i pray to god everyday to keep me safe while driving and have told my husband if i die while driving this vehicle he should sue!!!

I purchased a 2006 chevy uplander in 12/06 with 20,543 miles on it. i began having problems with the steering about 3,000 miles after purchasing it. it was difficult to steer to the left and there was a grinding noise as i turned. the dealership replaced the steering column. i am having problems again with the steering, and it shakes and makes noise when i pull into parking lots. at about 30,000 miles, the rear sliding doors began to open on their own. when i put the van into reverse and begin to back out of the driveway, the doors sometimes will open. parked in the driveway and parking lots with no one in the vehicle, the driver's rear door has opened. after i close the doors, they will immediately open, although no buttons have been pushed. now, at 43,000 miles, the driver's rear sliding door will not close. i pushed the button inside the door as i always have to close it, as well as the overhead button, and the door would not close. each time i pushed the button, the already open door pulled back as if still trying to open the door. when i tried to manually pull the door closed, it would not close. after 5 minutes of work, i finally got the door closed. the next day, 9/27/08, i experienced the same thing, and on this day as well, a chiming sound rang the entire trip. there is one sound for driving and a different sound for waiting at red lights. the loud ringing never stopped. when i called the dealership, they told me i was no longer under warranty, and will have to pay to have it fixed. i also discovered at 35,000 miles that my tires have worn unevenly on the outside edges of all 4 tires and need to be replaced. also, the sway bar is in need of repair. i have children ages 2 and 4. i am concerned for their safety. *tr

Me and my wife bought a 2006 chevy uplander from karmart when we test drove it we noticed a noise in the front end. we asked the salesman what it could be he said our cars are inspected 100 percent and it is not anything to worry about. the car had very low miles on it about 3,600 miles. we drove the car until it had about 33,000 the warranty expires at 36,000 we noticed another loud knock in the front end and it would start shaking really bad when you put on the brakes and i mean scary bad.the lights we also doing a flashing from a really low dim to back to normal that was also something we noticed from time we bought it. we called up speedway chevrolet in monroe and made an appointment. they took the car in and said it needed a new tie rod and a frontend the alignment was way out.they also replaced the voltage regulator. we went back to pick the car up and they said the front brakes were needing to be replaced and they were wearing uneven i asked him if this could be from the front end problem he said no. i also noticed the tires were wearing uneven and it looked like they were wearing on the outside more. we noticed the same noise was still there as from karmart.so we took it to les schwab and had the brakes replaced hoping it would fix the problem. it didn't fix the noise so we drove the car another 1,000 miles and started hearing another loud knock. the noise from the dealership was different from the loud knocks that started up. we made another appt. with speedway cheverlet and this time they said there was a recall on the steering box and the bearings on the axles were bad. they replaced the steering box and said it would be a while before they could replace the bearings. the bearing makers were on strike so we waited from july 26 til aug 13 or 14th to pick it up. we went the whole time with one car and really had a hard time doing so. i feel there was some major safety issues overlooked and they were hoping the warranty would run out. *tr

I am still having problems with the steering shaft, power steering rack and the automatic sliding doors. the steering is stiff and there is a rubbing noise in the steering column. this has been attempted to be fixed 4 times now. the steering rack had been replaced twice, the power steering gear, the front sway bar links, and the i-shaft have been replaced. the problem still exists. the automatic sliding doors will not close properly and seem to reopen when closing. this had been attempted to be fixed 5 times. the psd assembly and rear guild roller, door position, relearn, lube and adjust was performed, new contact plates were installed. the problem still exists. *tr

I have a 2006 chevy uplander lt and i started to have problems around 3,000 miles of ownership. it started with electrical issues (hard drive entertainment system, gas gauge, dimming lights, radio losing settings, hard starts, service abs, and service traction control) and gradually moved to mechanical issues (clucking noises ? front end, vibrations ? front end, steering binding, and grinding noises from the front end). what has been replaced in hopes of fixing the issues are the hard drive to the entertainment system, main computer module (twice and reprogrammed several times), steering column, steering box, rack and pinion, front stabilizing control arms, front brake, front rotors resurfaced, abs control module (never fixed the service abs and service traction control). the dealer still can?t explain the grinding noise and is trying to convince me that it is normal characteristics of the van (they actually wrote that in the service report). they can not resolve the service abs and traction control errors. they can?t resolve the hard starts. the dealer has taken a position that no more diagnostic work will be performed to the front end until i replace a cupped tire (their opinion). i have hired a lemon law attorney to help with my problem. *tr

Purchased in jan 06. by sept 11, 2006 steering wheel became tight and heard noise under car when driving. steering shaft was binding and had to be replaced; could not locate noise. said may be related to steering shaft. sept 20, 2006, took car back to dealership for noise under van again; was told e-brake cable was hitting rear suspension. february 11, 2007, had to replace front worn tires with only 23, 275 miles on car and have an alignment. march 9, 2007, traction control and abs lights coming on as well as vehicle shaking. was told front brakes were 100% worn and back brakes were 80% worn and would not be replaced under warranty because this was normal wear and tear.(only had 23,989 miles on van). april 19, 2007, heard noised while driving, heard something like a spring pop, service engine light was coming on, and it was stalling when trying to start. both sway bars had to be replaced, spring pop was related to sway bars, and they could not find a problem related to the last two. now a year later with only 39,000, i have to take my car in for new brakes again. and my front tires are worn and need to be replaced again!!!!! i also had problems with my doors not closing; after they wiped off the little magnets at the bottom sometimes they still don't want to close. *tr

I was driving my uplander when the vehicle jerked to the left. it resulted in my driving over a concrete median and causing $4000.00 of damage to vehicle. i did not realize until i picked the van up from repair that this may possibly not be my fault. driving home on the day i picked the van up from repair, the van again jerked to the left and i almost had another wreck. i have owned the van since june and have not had this problem, however, i have had the van in the shop for numerous other complaints, such as the power doors malfunctioning, a shake in the front end, loud clunking noise when accelerating uphill, squeak in the steering. i am now very concerned about the safety of this van. *nm
