Odi evaluated general motors' (gm) data, conducted consumer interviews, inspected and tested my 2005-2007 gm minivans with regard to the alleged defect of a power sliding door (psd) opening while the vehicle is out of park.odi identified a high warranty claim rate.however, these claims are related to various problems associated with doors not properly opening or closing and not specifically to doors opening while driving.the condition of the psd reversing direction during the closing sequence is consistent with an obstruction of the door, or with improper alignment of the door, and this is addressed in gm technical service bulletin # 07-08-64-007 and bulletins # 07-08-64-007a through d.odi's evaluation of the psd system notes numerous safeguards to preclude both unintentional and intentional power opening of the psd while the vehicle is in motion.a safety-defect trend has not been identified at this time.accordingly, this investigation is closed.[see document file for additional information regarding this resume.]
PE07044GENERAL MOTORS CORP.08/16/200712/11/2007POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENING
Odi has received reports that the power sliding doors opened without command while the vehicle was in motion on model year 2005 and 2006 general motors minivans (chevrolet uplander/venture, pontiac montana sv6/montana, buick terraza, and saturn relay).some reports indicate that the door may not have been closed and latched before driving away causing the door to reverse (open) at low vehicle speeds.however, other reports indicate that the door was initially shut then opened after driving for several minutes and/or miles at vehicle speeds between 20 and 70 mph.odi has upgraded this preliminary evaluation to an engineering analysis (ea07-019) to further assess this issue.

The rear power doors on my 2006 uplander have constantly needed service. there have been times the door alarm goes off when the door is not actually open, we have to pull over and reset the doors by opening and closing them. the roller bearings have been replaced twice on the drivers slider. both doors have been serviced at least 10 times for improper closing, faulty sensor alarm dinging even when the doors are closed, sometimes it takes many attempts for the doors to close. the driver side door almost came completely off when the roller bearings broke. these doors are unsafe and beyond defective.

1st the check engine light keeps coming on and when put on diagnostic code came back po463. the van wouldn't pass emissions and when you fill up with has it would say it was empty. there's a loud popping noise sounds like at axle. it does this after you stop at red lights. i was told this had to do with axle and could break and cause fatal accident, the abs light keeps coming on and the braking system scared me to death. the doors constantly chime or ding and the doors will open going down the road. i was so upset because i have to transport my elderly aunt and and two children and before i was about to pay to have all this fixed i decided to check out recall. i am so shocked that you can look this up online and they are 1000 documented complaints on all the same problems but yet no recalls. is it gonna take people getting killed to do this. im praying for something less tragic and trying to save these precious lives. there is research and lawsuits that the chevrolet uplanders have alot of these problems from 2005 to 2008 especially with the doors and like me everyone gets annoyed and unplugs them and have to use them manually but why should we when are still paying for automatic doors. this van is truly unsafe and a lemon. i pray to god everyday to keep me safe while driving and have told my husband if i die while driving this vehicle he should sue!!!

The car has an automatic sliding door that does not always close. when we try to manually close it the automatic mechanism kicks in and opens the door back up. if we are able to get the door closed the bell dings inside the car indicating that the door is open, even though it is not. this has been an ongoing problem for the past two years. several parts were replaced on the door at the dealership and it worked temporarily but now the door is not working again. i bought an extended warranty when the car hit the 36000 mile mark because i knew i would continue to have problems. the car has been in service probably 10-15 times since it was purchased 3 years ago. the engine light also comes on at random for no apparent reason.

Purchased in jan 06. by sept 11, 2006 steering wheel became tight and heard noise under car when driving. steering shaft was binding and had to be replaced; could not locate noise. said may be related to steering shaft. sept 20, 2006, took car back to dealership for noise under van again; was told e-brake cable was hitting rear suspension. february 11, 2007, had to replace front worn tires with only 23, 275 miles on car and have an alignment. march 9, 2007, traction control and abs lights coming on as well as vehicle shaking. was told front brakes were 100% worn and back brakes were 80% worn and would not be replaced under warranty because this was normal wear and tear.(only had 23,989 miles on van). april 19, 2007, heard noised while driving, heard something like a spring pop, service engine light was coming on, and it was stalling when trying to start. both sway bars had to be replaced, spring pop was related to sway bars, and they could not find a problem related to the last two. now a year later with only 39,000, i have to take my car in for new brakes again. and my front tires are worn and need to be replaced again!!!!! i also had problems with my doors not closing; after they wiped off the little magnets at the bottom sometimes they still don't want to close. *tr

The van is equipped with dual power sliding doors. i have had multiple repairs completed and they still do not function properly. on two occasions, they shut on one of my children, once causing a 5 x 2 bruise on my 8 year old and once causing my 5 year old to limp on a sore ankle for 2 days. additionally, every time i hit a bump, it disconnects from the sensors and sets off an alarm. my primary concern, however, was when i was driving 50 mph and the rear passenger door opened by itself. no one was injured, but it was very frightening. this is not a safe vehicle. *nm
07/04/200627000104/01/2006
Dt*: the contact stated that the driver's side sliding door slid shut as the contact's child entered the vehicle. the contact was walking around to the other side of the vehicle, when the sliding door slid shut pinning the child to the door causing injury to the chest wall, face, scalp, and spine. there were no problems prior to the incident. the dealership determined that the sliding door catches were worn down after one year and new door catches were replaced.

Bought a 2006 uplander from royal chevrolet in richmond va. vehicle was sold to us in july 2007 as new. starting in oct-nov vehicle engine light comes on, in november tie rods and sway bars had to already be replaced, vehicle vibrates while sitting still, vehicle steering column creaks, clanks and screeches, vehicle sways to right and i have to overdrive to keep it on road safely, shakes while sitting still, rattling noise from right side back passenger area, headlight dim on their own while driving at night, rpms rev up with normal driving, gas reads empty with 1/4 tank in it and will not start if parked on downward incline. the only thing taken seriously was the tie rod and sway bars, they were fixed but van still shakes and does not feel safe. i wrote letters to the manufacturer and many weeks have gone by with no contact from them to help me fix my problems. *tr
