2001 chevrolet venture, fuel tank leak @ the fuel tank filler tube attachment point. has a small crack. some but not all ventures with this problem have been recalled. defiantly a fire hazard.
04/19/2010160000
I have a 2001 chevy venture that had a recall on the fuel tank because it could leak fuel and a cause a fire. on april 19th my wife took the van in to chapman chevrolet in tempe,az to get the tank replaced because it has been leaking fuel for some time now. we were never notified of this recall. we looked it up online. when she got there she was told that we were over the mileage for the free tank replacement and would have to pay a $1000 to have it replaced. that was of course out of the question and it is not our fault that they made a defective tank and is a fire hazard that they want people to drive around in unless they have a thousand dollars to spend on replacing it. please help if you can. this can be a serious problem and gm needs to stand behind their products.

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. the contact smelled gasoline and noticed fluid on the ground. he then observed a crack in the fuel inlet check valve. the dealer stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage), although the failures were identical. the contact must pay $135 just to have the vehicle inspected. he feels that since this is a defect, he should not have to pay. the vehicle will be repaired. the failure and current mileages were 60,000.
