Park lock out mechanism failed rendering vehicle not usable. the mount point on the mechanism failed so even the override device will not allow the car to shift out of park. chrysler has a recall on 05-07 vehicles of this type but they claim my 05 is not part of this recall (sb-10038199-2853) and that they will open a case. research online shows this as a very common issue. *tr

On july 17,2012 i drove my vehicle at approximately 6:30 a.m to take my daughter to camp. when i arrived home i parked the car. approximately 40 minutes later i got into the car, started it, and placed my foot on the brake to release my gear from the park position. as i did that, the gear would not move. i tried this approximately 5 to 10 times before giving up. i then contacted the chrysler dealer in new carrolton, md and inquired about the part. i was informed that i have a recall on my vehicle in regards to nhtsa campaign id number 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). after being informed of that information, i then proceeded to ask the rep. will that recall fix my gear from being stuck in the park position. i was placed on hold and when the rep. returned, she informed me that the mechanic said no. i made an appointment to have the recall work performed at a later time. i then called around to different mechanics and inquired about what the issue might be. i received feedback from at least 3 out of 5 mechanics who stated that it may be the brake sensor fuse being blown or it may be a solenoid that needs to be replaced. later on that evening i went to try and move the gear again and was unable to, so i removed the chrome panel that is around gear assembly and stuck a flat head screw driver towards the top and played around with it. as i was doing so, the gear shift moved from the park position. so now i have to ride around with a screw driver in order to get out of the park position. i feel this is a major safety concern because i have 2 young children and we could've been stranded somewhere. the failure mileage was approximately 102,600. will be getting repaired friday july 20,2012. chrysler should be covering this issue. *tr

The chrysler 300 would not shift out of park. after some research online it was determined that the transmission shifter interlock shifter lever was broken. there is also a k-39 recall issued by chrysler but my car does not fall under it. i spoke to chrysler and they are not willing to fix it. it is a safety issue because the spring that is broken prevents the car from being shifted out of park if the brake is not pressed. *tr

The car is stuck in park in my driveway.it is an automatic transmission. i was told it is shift interlock latch that is plastic. i have ordered the replacement part in alloy, a dorman part # 924-706. i was told it is a recall, and called my dealership but alas my vin# was not included in the recall. i was also informed the same plastic part gets reinstalled into the vehicle for $200-475 fee at the dealership. it seems to be happening many times as the place i purchased the part said they order this part often due to the same make and model owners need to replace it themselves. i have looked up the recall and it is considered the cup plug that retains the park pawl anchors shaft. daimlerchrysler recall no. e14.

 1. the events leading up to the failure. there are hundreds of reports on the internet about long term and systemic oil sludge problems causing sudden catastrophic engine failures in dodge and chrysler vehicles using the 2.7l v6 engine spanning from approx 1998-2005. my well maintained 2005 chrysler 300 engine failed suddenly and dangerously while driving. and this was 1 month after paying the chrysler dealer $850 to change the transmission fluid and coolant at factory suggested dates. with only 56,000 miles and oil changed every 5000 miles (owners manual suggests 7500) the chrysler dealer initially wanted over $2000 to fix an unexplained internal water pump leak, and timing chain failure. only after heated discussion did they back down and repair it for a $100 deductible under the 7/70 drivedrain warranty. 2. the failure, how often it occurs, its consequences. simply using google and entering chrysler 2.7l engine failure leads to hundreds of reports of suspected oil sludge (due to poor engine design and oil not flowing properly) that causes sudden and dangerous unexplained engine failure involving thousands of dollars. chrysler and its dealers first attempt to blame customers for not changing the oil enough or using the right oil etc. in my case my dealer said ...chrysler is being very quiet asking us to use all new parts and not giving us alot of information.... 3. what was done to correct the failure; i.e, parts repaired or replaced (and if old part is available). my dealer said chrysler told them not to talk about it and to use new and modified parts they gave them and not to use any of the old parts. *tr

I have had numerous problems with my chrysler 300, which are becoming more costly and defeating the purpose of my purchasing a new car. first, i was subject to a recall regarding the transmission. next, the rack and pinion went out. thankfully that was covered under warranty. now i have to repair the outer tie rods when i have less than 75,000 miles on the car. this repair is $500.00 on top of what i have to pay for the car payment and is not covered under warranty. the brakes recently had to be replaced (another $350.00) and i am also being presented with issues pertaining to the oil pan (which apparently is made of plastic). *tr

About 6 months ago, my gear shift started sticking in park. would not go into reverse without a lot of coaxing. what i did was to keep pumping the brakes and after about 10 or so pumps, the gear shift would release. more recently, my car will just die even when i am going over 40 mph. most of the time, i can just shift it into nuetral and restart it. i am not sure of what the outcome would be if i were perhaps going around a corner since the power steering goes out when this occurs. actually as i think about it, it also did this when it was brand new, when i took it to the dealership they said there was no record of it on the computer therefore they could not fix it.

I have never had a problem with my chrysler 300 up until this morning as i started my car for work. my car was stuck in park. as i researched this deficiency online it i noticed that it has been an ongoing occurance with chryslers of all type. i called many chrysler dealerships and found that this is a problem that has been repaired on a normal basis. my complaint is there is no recall on this deficency and this is costing consumer too much money that we don't have to spend on this. i have my car serviced regularly so this should have not happened.

I have a chrysler 300 that within the last 25,000.00 miles has had the shifter fail twice. this has resulted in the inability of the car to be shifted out of park to any gear. i have found this issue reported on numerous websites which leads me to believe that my failure is not an isolated case. chrysler has repaired the shifter both times ( once under warranty and once out ) but i feel that the part as basic as a shifter should not fail and poses a safety issue to the consumer since the failure completely immobilizes the car . *tr

Gear shift on 2005 chrysler 300 touring malfunctioned. couldn't remove from park position and at times had difficulty putting car in park. tried to use the manual to release. information in manual stated by depressing pink button next to gear shift would release gear from park position; but did not work. my husband is a certified technician and stated that the pink button was not connected to anything; but he was able to release it by taking apart the console to expose the main release so that we would not incurr a $150 towing cost. the vehicle was then taken to ganley/dodge/chrysler dealer and the entire gear shift had to be replaced; but they could not explain why it went bad nor why this pink button was not connected nor able to release. dealer also said that there were no recalls on this type of repair and the cost would be my responsibilty. cost of repair approximately $375 plus the part is back ordered for approximately three (3) days. i will take vacation days from work in order to have my car repaired and will be without transportation. need to know if this is a manufacturer's defeat since the infomation in the manual stated procedures to follow in the release but not effective and whether or not i can be reimbursed for the repairs and if i can send the original part back to the manufacturer so that a technician can honestly analyze if the part was installed properly and/or why it did not perform as indicated in the manual. will miss time off from work and no loaner was provided or offered. i understand that repairs must be made but something that was not done by the owner should be the responsibility of the manufacuturer if this type of repair is due to the production of the vehicle. to some, this may be inexpensive; but to others with today's economic situation; there should be no need for a consumer to endure an additional expense just because without a justifiable explanation. your response to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My car is stuck in park and had to be towed to a mechanic. the mechanic told me that the part needed was part of a recall. when i called chrysler they told me that even though there is a recall my car was not part of the batch. they stated that they pick a certain amount of cars to be part of the recall but that the other ones get omitted. i called chrysler and they gave me a case number 17859460 and when i asked to speak to a manager they hung up on me. i don't feel that it is fair that i need to pay for the part and labor because chrysler decided that my car was not part of the batch. chrysler wants me to have to pay for the parts so that they can make money off of me but i feel that they need to take responsibility for something that they are in default for. *tr

On nov 9, 2005 i drove into my drive way and started turning to pull into the garage. my 2005c with hemi suddenly surged forward hitting my daughter's 2004 jeep grand cherokee. her car had damage on the rear bumper and it was knocked about 15 or 20 feet. the front of my car was torn up. the air bag did not deploy but, thankfully no one was hurt. i have contacted chrysler about the surge and they stated they have not had any complaints. i found one on this website about the car surging. this will effect my insurance and has been a problem for my family with two cars having to be repaired. i reported to chrysler that twice that day the car had made a revving sound but had not surged forward. this is very dangerous and now makes me unsure about driving the car again. we bought this car new from benchmark chrysler in january. the car is being repaired at trussville mazda who does repair work for benchmark. they told us when it is repaired they will take it to benchmark to be checked out for defects. after reading the complaints on this message board i am not sure that will be of any value but, i am going to give them the benefit of the doubt until i hear from them. does anyone know of a recall or similar happenings? *jb

Sometimes, my '300 touring' (3.5 liter ho v6) just 'lunges' forward while i'm stopped at a stoplight for no particular reason. this has occurred on several occasions (about eight times now) whether my car is 'cold' and/or after it has 'warmed-up' for a while. sometimes, even with the brake pedal firmly depressed, it'll still 'lunge' forward...feeling as if my car will fly right through the intersection. on 04/04/05, while i was stopped at a stoplight behind another car, my car 'lunged' forward once again, but this time causing me to rear-end the vehicle in front of me...causing damage to the front of my car, as well as to the rear of the other. to make matters worse, i was actually enroute to my local chrysler dealer to have a 'recall notice' taken care of (for inappropriate gauge cluster readings). prior to the accident, i had advised my dealer about the possible transmission problem, but each time i was told that my car's complicated electronics/computer system was in fact actually just trying to get accustomed to the way that i drive, and that it would adjust accordingly. on the day of the accident and during subsequent visits, i also had my dealer try to determine the cause of and rectify this particular problem; however, each time, i was advised that either they could not duplicate the problem nor have they heard anything like this before. i have read on some chrysler 300 internet forums, that some others have also experienced this same problem, so, i'm now sure that my problem isn't just a unique incident after all. if anything, i would at least like to retrieve previously requested documentation from chrysler identifying the actual existence of this particular problem, so that i can present this documentation to my automobile insurance company. this incident has now tarnished my perfect driving record, as well as also forced me to now pay a higher insurance premium.

Purchased a 05, 300 touring, signature series, oct 04. noticed after driving car home (100 miles) car pulled to the right. car has been serviced at every required mileage limits. car has been in shop for pulling to the right numerous times and adjustments have been made. good year tires wore out at 23k miles. dealer stated nothing they could do about it even though it had been documented that tires showed improper wear throughout the servicing periods. i had to purchase 4 new tires. the car still pulls to the right and have been given some story that it will prevent me from going into on coming traffic if i pass out at the wheel. front windshield fogs up when using air conditioner, road noise is bad, power train and rear end leaks, the plastic sunvisor holders break often (replaced twice). carpet cut too short to stay under door panels. *nm

My engine has been ticking from the beginning about two days after i bought it. cash! for my dad's birthday... brand new from town and country dealership. they told me to bring it back, this is in conyers georgia. i took it back they they kinda joke around said wasn't that the one on the show rm flr i said yes. then they said maybe when they drove it from tenn. it had no oil in it. it is a new engine and it will stop, or the gas cap was not on right and they would fix it. each time i bought it back the noise would stop for a while then it would come back. just keep your oil changed and there will be no problem this is what mr. larry repair boss told me. well. i didn't hear the noise as much when i picked it up and the rental car was getting expensive and they try to tell me i didn't buy the extra warrenty but i did! they told me i could keep drivimg it. or they tried to sell me a newer one...sell no way! because my job requires me to drive i need a good running car. (i'm a minister) now the noise is louder and the engine sounds like it is losing power. i can not say how many times i told them that the car needed a new engine but they kept on trying to sell me another car instead of replace the car or fix it with a new engine. the right side of my car pulled to the right when braking and they told me to go to good year and i did. they said it was manifacturing that they could not tighten up that side take it back but i ended up paying for good year to fix that. now the warrenty is gone for real and the noise is louder. it is not the fly wheel or the transmission it is in the engine right side in the back under the head gasket. i'm an retierd jeep employee and i use to inspect on the engine line. i knew this was not good to keep happening so now i have to pay for a engine too? wow pistons or lifters, or something is wrong with that car in my engine! help! 770-369-3331 pastor butler kathy is it because i'm a girl? they didn't listen or got treated this way. help!
