ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Car loses all power when driving especially after it rains. you have to let it sit awhile and then it will start up. this happens frequently and is quite dangerous.from what i have researched on the internet this is a common problem with this car and alot of frustrated people are wondering why this hasn't been a recall problem since it seems to happen in all cirrus models. this is an expensive repair and it seems to be an extremely life threatening one since it happens on major highways without no warning what so ever. *tr

My car dies while driving down the road and takes a while to start back up. i have taken it to a shop on 4 occasions to have the problem fixed. the distributor has been replaced 3 times, neutral safety switch, complete tune-up. still no luck. *tr

I have a 1998 chrysler cirrus with 84,730 miles on it. this car keeps shutting off while i am driving. i've been told i need to replace the computer, the fuel injection system, crankshaft/camshaft sensors, new battery- you name it i've been told. now my check engine light is on as well as my oil light and no one can tell me what needs to be done! the following website, www.carsurvey.org/reviews/chrysler/cirrus/r64403/comments/page-5/, has a list of complaints about this vehicle and the same problem people have experienced- sudden stop syndrome. something needs to be done about this car because i have four children and i do not like risking our lives, but it is my only mode of transportation. i cannot afford to make these costly repairs, especially when no one can tell me what is wrong. the brake pedal becomes hard to operate and if i go under 15 mph, it will shut off. sometimes it won't even turn back on for at least 10-15 minutes. i thought i was the only one with this problem, but i'm not and chrysler needs to be held responsible! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 1998 chrysler cirrus. while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine races on its own. he must place the vehicle in neutral or a lower gear in order for the racing to stop. the failure does not self-correct. the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. the contact believes it is a manufacturer defect. the current mileage is 134,776 and failure mileage was 132,200.

Tl-the contact owns a 1998 chrysler cirrus. while the contact was driving approximately 45 mph, the engine began to overheat and steam emitted from underneath the hood area. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and towed to an independent auto shop. the technician stated the coolant hose fractured. the part was ordered. the vehicle would be repaired once the part became available. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the mileage was 170,000. js

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - ENGINE

I recently purchased a 1998 chrysler cirrus. not even two weeks into driving i've been having problems with it. the car stops without any warning. i have taken it to 3 mechanics for them to hook it up to a computer with no resolution. the car stops when i am idle and stalls when i am driving. i have not driven the car once without it stopping on me. the check engine light only comes on when it stalls out. the engine has been replaced, new spark plugs, evg valve, fuel cleaning, asd relay, sensors, and so on. this is a big problem. thanks *tr
