The rear window is detaching from the convertible top. it has gotten progressively worse over the past year and the window could fall out at any time without a repair. this is a known problem with the 2005 roadster models, chrysler has refused to issue a general recall. as a result, my local chrysler dealer in seminole florida will not replace nor repair the top.

Convertible top rear window became unattached from the convertible top

The rear adhesive on my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadsters rear window, that holds it to the soft top convertible, has begun to detach. i have called chrysler about the issue and they explained that my vehicle was not covered by the warranty and they will not assist. this is a huge safety concern for me because the window could detach while driving and possibly cause harm and/or death to other drivers on the roadway. i found a service bulletin on the issue with a bulletin # sb-23035-11reva that recommends that the convertible top be inspected and/or replaced if defective. chrysler is not helping at all with this serious safety issue to help me fix it and make my vehicle safe for myself, and the others around me. i am a member of crossfireforum.org and there are many other people with this issue that have either gotten it replaced by chrysler for free, or paid a co-pay to help them fix the problem, but i was offered neither for this extremely unsafe issue my vehicle has. please help me in any way that you can.

Purchased this vehicle in april of this year, from a chrysler dealer. it came with a plastic window, which i found out, is not factory/standard. the dealer refused to take care of it. found out about the x31 and sb-23035-11reva bulletin, contacted chrysler about it, got turned down because we are the 4th owners of the car, and it was 3,000 over the 100k mile limit. i wrote sergio marchionne, the ceo of chrysler, got a review, but was turned down again. told that it would not make good business sense to fix my car! what!!? the problem is widespread, and since chrysler has owned up, they should continue to be a good manufacturer, and take care of their customers, original or not. the condition is dangerous.

The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster is failing on the drivers side almost 3 inches across top and bottom, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. this adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top. the window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. this presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving. very costly to the consumer to repair should be recalled as it looks like there are many others with the same problem.

Rear window in roadster (convertible) top is becoming unglued / delaminated from the fabric top. if it comes completely unglued at highway speeds it could be quite dangerous.
08/06/201150000
The rear window glass on the roadster separates rapidly from the roof lining and if not caught in time will completely detach and become a projectile to the internal occupants or to other road users. chrysler have indicated on their x31 recall for the problem the expectation that certain vehicles are warranted for 10 years/100,000 miles due to a manufacturing defect, but only for vehicles shipped to some 8 southern states. their contention is that other vehicles are not affected but this is at odds with the experiences of myself and many others.

The rear window has separated from the canvas top and may fall out while driving. this will be a serious and costly safety issue.

Chrysler has recalled and/or provided extended warranty for crossfire convertible tops (x31 recall i believe) where the rear glass window is failing and becoming loose or has come out of the roof top completely. chrysler has stated that only vehicles delivered to dealers in select southern states qualify for this recall/extended coverage. this is a safety issue for all crossfires with convertible tops! do you wait until the window glass comes out completely while driving with the potential to cause an accident or damage to subsequent vehicles and or other property? no! this defective item should be replaced by chrysler for all crossfire vehicles with convertible tops. chrysler should contact all registered owners and advise them as to how to have there defective components replaced before an incident and/or accident occurs.

The rear glass window is coming loose and separating/delaminating from the fabric convertible top. it seems the glue/bond is failing and i am very concerned that the window will completely become detached and cause an accident while driving. i believe this problem is a manufacturing defect and needs to be addressed by chrysler as a recall. this problem seems to be related to hot/humid weather conditions causing the delamination failure.

This is a 2005 chrysler crossfire we have owned and garage kept for 3yrs without any problems until today when the back window on the convertible top became delaminated. searching the internet i found that this may be a common problem for other owners of this vehicle.i dont understand how this method of installation from the factory could be considered quality work because its just glued onto the denim cloth. this car has never been in an accident or treated in a negligent manner it is well taken care of and there is no reason for this to happen except for poor manufacturing processes.

Rear window simply falls out of chrysler crossfire convertible top. no support for glass other than thin strip of heat seal to canvass. could be serious if failure at speed. chrysler offers co-pay ($890.00) to owner for a new top so they acknowledge the problem.

2005 chrysler crossfire roadster rear window fell out of the top. this could have fallen behind my car and hit another vehicle and injured someone. i belong to a chrysler car club and found this is a common failure for this year model. i have contacted chrysler and am waiting for their opinion. i am told the top replacement is about $3000.00.

Chrysler crossfire convertible 2005 rear glass has defective glue that allows the glass to detach from the canvas.if the glass breaks passengers could be decapitated. this is manufacture defect that needs to be fixed.

I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire ltd. roadster that has just reached 50k miles. the rear windshield has fallen out of the soft top and is mearly holding on by the wires for the defroster. i have been told that this is a manufacturers defect but chrysler declines replacing it as a defect. i have contacted auto upholstery businesses to repair the window and was told that there is no way to repair this problem and that a new top has to be purchased which will cost me $2000 for the top and they must have the car for 10 days (include another $400 for rental car fees). fortunately this incident occured when the car was parked and not while i was driving for it could have ended up in worse property damage or a car crash.

Chrysler crossfire 2005 back window fell out, came unglued for no reason, requires replacement of whole top. manufacturer's defect so insurance won't pay and chrysler corp refuses to do anything to correct. safety hazard, unable to drive car, put top down, etc. cost to replace at my dealership 1700.00 parts plus 700.00 labor!!!!! help - make chrysler pay to fix!!!!

The rear window is falling out of my 2005 crossfire roadster convertible. it is a glued in window and the glue has failed. we were told today by chrysler that it was not warrantied and could not be repaired. the only solution they offer is to buy a new top for over $2100. this appears to be a common problem. not only is it unreasonably expensive to remedy, it is also a safety issue. the top could easily fly out, injuring a passenger or someone in another vehicle. chrysler should offer a reasonable solution to take care of this as it is obviously a design defect and their responsibility.

The rear window came out of my 2005 crossfire was informed this was a common problem, the only fix was to replace the top.the top is like new ,the problem is the adhesive failed. this car has been kept in a garage for years .there should be some recorse to solve this problem!

The glass from the top of my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster sunk in as the glue from manufacturer did not hold up. it is under a maximum coverage warranty from chrysler and they still did not want to cover the repair b/c it is material. however, it is the way manufacturer made the car(with a soft top) therefore the warrany should cover the top even if its cloth b/c it is how they made it.

Vandalism to convertible top, slashed. convertible top needs to be replaced, replacing top by manufacture will take until at least january 29, 2010 from october. this is hazardous due to driving with a slashed top creates a major noise distraction as well as inclement weather problems such as snow and rain distracts driver and may somewhat impair vision etc. *tr
